  1. I'm just not sure if an "all in one" kit is really super viable/practical different weapons different heads different backpacks Really only the main body would be the same, and that's less than half the plastic. And since it's skaven, these are probably single pieces of plastic. so you have what, 2 bits in common with each kit? You're going to have a ton of people with weapon team heads/arms/weapons glued to lumps of greenstuff... I think the options probably are: Single weapon teams in blister packs (like heroes). A small box with 1-3 quarter sprues that builds a few weapon teams. does it build a few of the same or a mix? Who knows. Originally released as part of a box set, but hopefully this time on a seperate small sprue to prevent the IoB problems?
  2. What little platform?? Seems like it would be quite an easy magnetization project even for a beginner. Just put a magnet under the buts.
  3. Darkling Covens and Wanderers both have Allegiance abilities in the GHB, and several other factions have pitched battle profiles with conditional battleline, so they are very much "part of the game". I think LoN, BoC, Glompsite, And Skaven all being release within 1 year, covering many (most?) of the non-covered models shows GW is giving a good bit of priority getting all of their in production models covered by battletomes. Yes they are also refreshing the earliest battletomes at the same time / in between, but I don't think it's accurate at all to say they have "priority", if anything the contrary, it seems like "non-battletome" factions have been getting priority lately.
  4. Indeed, The Carrion Empire batallions are 100% legal for matched play. who knows why they are not in the battletomes. I think they will be legal until an errata comes out saying they are not. (this is how the batallions in the "Grand Alliance" Books were eventually invalidated, besides no longer having point values) amazing! I Was ognna do the same thing with my weapon teams. I do have a lot of plague monks but I do not have 40k or spare gas mask bits =( maybe I can find some due to all the WLC being put together from Carrion Empire
  5. I like the model a lot better=) Also the engineer and bombardier are both easily sniped. Arch-Warlock is sensitive to mortal wounds but is a lot more survivable otherwise. The extra spell is also worth 60 points alone I think, especially if using endless spells.
  6. Before, if you had a unit of 6, you could have any combination of weapons. that's a LOT of combinations (sorry i don't know the formula for that).... Now, for a unit of 6 you can only have a max 2 of each weapon AND only 2 of each group of 2 weapons (each model is designed to take 1 of 2 weapons). I don't know the formula for that either, but it is a small fraction of the other number. Yes, you can have 1 of each loadout. That is really probably the least competitive option though (master of none)
  7. Yes and also i would expect "recommended" base sizes to turn into "strongly recommended" to turn into "required" over time. The only reason base sizes are not enforced right now is because they don't want to ****** off WHFB players (anymore than they already have). But 10 years into AoS, I can't see round bases being "recommended" anymore. It makes a gameplay difference, i wouldn't use the wrong size round base just because you think it looks better if you ever plan on playing with strangers
  8. They are too similar because you receive 3 of the exact same thing. Basically, the rocky part is 6 pieces. alternating sets of 3 that can be moved around a bit to look slightly different. The wooden pieces assemble into 3 straight pieces with 2 supports. that connect to the base. All 3 places for these are the same, so you can interchange them. If we label the 3 wooden assemblies A, B, C, On the box art, the gnaw holes are assembled like: AAB.... ABC... BCC, so that the 3 gnaw holes don't all have the exact same plastic. From above the wooden assemblies form the skaven triangle. You could build your own wooden structure out of the bits, it would be more difficult/time consuming and wouldn't hold up to scrutiny as well (brackets/wraps/grain on connection points won't line up), but I think I may do it just to not have near identical models. It is a lot of plastic, which would be cheap for GW standards (especially based on the gloomspite prices, $80 for 1 large sprue, ouch), but terrain is made in China so it's not the same premium pricing. It certainly feels required to have gnaw holes (or proxies) to play Skaven since they are free. I got mine for $42 (~$5 off internet price) and I am not real upset about it, except for the fact that all 3 are identical without any significant amount of customization designed in.
  9. Do not trust warscroll builder or azyr to properly model the rules. It often has bugs, particularly with things like this. Let's wait for the FAQ.
  10. The same reason Deathrunners and Poison Wind Mortar Weapon Team are not in the Skaven book. GW will not put minis in a Battletome if they do not sell the mini on their website. All these minis were in box sets on mixed sprues, there is no chance of the sculpts coming back.
  11. you must choose Nurgle army or Skaventide Pestilens army. If you choose Nurgle, you use the nurgle battletome, with skaven warscrolls. But you must have plaguebearer or blightking (or generic chaos) battleline , since monks are only battleline in Pestilens army.
  12. definitely gonna be playing my deathrunners as deathmasters now, since the former did not make the book. I don't think there's any reason they have to be limited to a eshin's army, assuming you don't need a pure clan list (and the allies thing doesn't pan out)
  13. dont understand the logic. If you lose 1 stormfiend, and you roll a 6 for battleshock, you are going to lose 1 more, no matter if the unit had 3 or 6. If you lose 3 models, sure you could lose the rest of the unit, but you have to ask yourself why you got yourself into such a situation in the first place (That you lost 20+ wounds with a 4+ save in 1 round...)And presumably you had 2 groups of 3 instead... if you charged them into the same place, I don't think the results are that different Not saying a group of 6 makes sense. It probably doesn't. but not for battleshock reasons
  14. 3 carrion empire halfs is not really the best start to an army.... You probably do not want 3 WLC or bombardiers, you definitely do not want 3 doomwheels, and we don't know yet if stormfiends are any good after their changes. It's just not great variety of good stuff. If I had 0 skaven I still would probably only go for 1 half, 2 max. Anyway, even if it were good to run all of those models in one list, that's only 18 models. You won't really be able to score any points because you'll lose any objective your contested at (since most objectives are "most models in range"), which is why people are suggesting clan rats. It's the same reason BCR is in a bad spot, and Gloomspite pure Troggoth lists, and any other such list will always have an issue.
  15. I can't decide if the quality of the IoB sculpts over the variety box is enough to justify so many duplicates. I already have a few sets of IoB, kind of want to sell some and buy some more variety, but I think i'll play with them for a bit and see if i even like the units in game.
  16. How is everyone playing their various packmaster models? I have a bunch of SoD ones I guess I will run as a group of 3 packmasters (find a way to designate one with a thing grabber). I ordered the skweel gnawtooth model for my master moulder, because I like the model and needed to differentiate from my packmasters. I don't have any of the ones from the plastic combo kit, or any of the other models (thought I had something with a whip but must be in a random box somewhere)
  17. Except that's not how kill team worked, which is a better comparison. He is saying there will be 24 factions. I think it's very safe to say that if that is true there are no plans to create new heroes for all 24 factions. They just don't need it. Just like with Kill team, all you need to do is put an existing hero on foot in a box with a regular unit and stick it on a shelf.
  18. Do you think Its worth it to insert a block of 60 stabbas in lieu of some spider riders? I'm going moonclan first, so I'll have the grots painted. Right now I have 3 arachnaroks, a scuttleboss, and 25 spider riders. I was hoping to not pick up anymore spiders for a long time, what with skaven tome coming out and all.  Between these 2 times I'm basically gonna want 8 differentarmies....
  19. I don't think it is intended for Pestilens to be able to include Nurgle. Nurgle does not have any rats under its allegiance list, but it doesn't need it. All of the Pestilens models have (still have) the "Nurgle" keyword. Pestilens are not allies in a Nurgle army, they are just in it. One way allegiances / includes are not uncommon. Goblins can join an Ironjawz army, but no Ironjawz orruk would follow a Goblin army... The old Clan Pestilens Battletome (and GHB) had Nurgle as an ally. That is going away (that battletome is invalid with the new one) I think everything is as intended here. You can still make a Nurgle list with pestilens, but the servants of nurgle will not follow the cause of the Horned Rat.
  20. my bad. Already read your review by the way, thanks!
  21. Um, they still have the Nurgle keyword, and you can put as many Pestilens models as you want in your nurgle army (You still need Nurgle Battleline) You can not include non-Pestilens Nurgle units into a Skaven army, though. But I don't think anyone was really trying to do that.
  22. It's ok to be more restrictive if it makes sense to them from a rules perspective... That doesn't violate the policy. If the warscroll said "you can take up to 5 banners" when the kit only had 4... that would violate it.
  23. It has nothing to do with nurfing them. GW has a new policy where a unit can only contain models that can be built from the exact number of currently sold GW kits. We first saw this with Gloomspite, where because the kit only contains 1 staff for a banner, you can only take 1 banner of any type per 20. This is to make the game more friendly to people who just want to buy kits from GW and be able to build a viable army. They don't want to give an advantage to kitbashers, or people willing to buy more models just to get certain bits. It is unfortunate for people who built their models under the old rules. hopefully not too much work to convert your models since it's just the tips of the arms... It's annoying, but it's the way rule will be written now, that is obvious.
  24. Does not have skaventide keyword and skaventide have no allies....
  25. @ZinnarThey can't ally with anyone..their allies list is "skaventide" (probably so people aren't confused/asking questions)
