  1. Not saying you're wrong but maybe you're talking from Tournament play experience?. They were never popular amongst competitive players, but they were one of the most common sights in all the FLGS I have put my foot in over the years. Still, I agree with you about not expecting vanilla orcs for the foreseeable future.
  2. It's a bit weird how both Ironjawz and Bonesliterz are described in relation to regular orcs (Ones being the toughest while the others being the craziest) yet nothing as a "normal orc" is talked about. I understand vanilla greenskin are not a thing anymore, but maybe they could have use ardboys to fit that role?
  3. Interesting. If those hopes are fulfilled, do you think we will see a format where you have to play all warbands with the deck that comes with it? I know it sounds very limiting, but it will ease the "Gotta catch 'em all" feeling that stops some people from getting more involved with the game. Of course for those who enjoy the deck building aspect it would suck, but something like that won't replace other formats (After all, GW wants you to buy all the cards).
  4. Not sure where this idea of IJ and Bonesplittersz fused together is coming from: Thematically they work better as separated armies, and as others have pointed out, battletomes like FEC or Fyreslayers proves that GW is still ok with armies with a limited range. They're even differentiated factions in Warcry, something that won't make sense if they're going to be reunited before/at a similar date. I could have seen vanilla orcs fused with IronJawz (or with regular goblins) but seems like those miniatures are done for good.
  5. My solution is similar to @JPjr, in that I would group vanilla dwarfs, whatever elves don't fit the new factions and humans. But humans would be made from new kits that actually fit the AoS aesthetic, while I will squat most of the old Empire range. I really think historic cultures don't have a place in this setting. Having said that, I understand that would suck for many Empire players, and judging by GW new approach, they're more likely to be satisfied than me. So hopefully they won't harbor bad feelings towards me!
  6. Something specific? Have skaven driven them to extinction again?
  7. I dislike that too, but that's the same problem I have with the herdstone and the loonshrine. Seems like going forward all the armies will fight at home. (The gnawholes make sense, thou. I actually like that idea). That aside, I think this release is good news, not only for the respective army fans but for most players with old or non-existent battletomes.
  8. A bit disappointed with the new "rockgut troggoths". They're not bad minis, but compared with the old ones, I think they lack character. Alas, it was a matter of time for the old rock trolls to disappear -they've been there since Fourth Edition, which I think speaks volumes about how cool those models were- but I hoped for replacements that either looked closely like the originals, or have at least as much character in their own unique way.
  9. Love the video. Really makes you want to make an army for each of the three factions.
  10. Gloomspite, uh? Seems like they're scaling up the creepiness. Also, as others have pointed out, a new name means they can put together moonclan and spiderfang under the new tag (while keeping the old ones). A hybrid like the scutlings won't look out of place then. Looking forward for the new miniatures.
  11. Are we sure this will be only a battletome? By the teasers looks like a small event with the Bad Moon "rising in the Mortal realms" and all those poor sods getting transformed.
  12. IIRC, there were rumours of a stone golem before the army book was released. A model like that would be enough for a Dispossesed battletome, since as others have pointed out, the aesthetic doesn't look out of place in AoS (unlike other old armies).
  13. Thanks @TheWilddog,! That looks like a fun army to play. And definitely makes sense to play to the strengths of the army; I'd give this a try.
  14. I'd had given some thought to this idea, and although it makes alot of sense competitive-wise, I'm a bit romantic when it comes to list-building and keeping the theme. Although I guess it could be converted to look more like bonespliterz... Anyway, I'd been toying with another list (just another box for stabbas and custom wardokks, still good value) that seems harder to counter, although the lack of cavalry may be a problem: Allegiance: Bonesplitterz Wurrgog Prophet (140) - General - Trait: Prophet of da Waaagh! Wardokk (100) Wardokk (100) Wardokk (100) 20 x Savage Orruk Morboys (240) 20 x Savage Orruk Morboys (240) 10 x Savage Orruk Arrowboys (140) 10 x Savage Orruk Arrowboys (140) 2 x Savage Big Stabbas (100) 2 x Savage Big Stabbas (100) 2 x Savage Big Stabbas (100) 2 x Savage Big Stabbas (100) Kop Rukk (200) Drakkfoot Warclan (140) Chronomantic Cogs (60) Total: 2000 / 2000 Extra Command Points: 2 Allies: 0 / 400 Wounds: 173 Maybe dropping one unit of stabbas for another wardokk? Thoughts?
  15. Ideally, they'd be replaced too. They're the original big, fully armoured guys, and should be as big and flashy as the Stormcast. But you know, with skulls and spikes.
  16. Hi, guys. Indulge me on some theory crafting, if I may. I realized that my stash of miniatures includes a Wurrgog prophet, a Wardokk and what looks like a savage boss from an unknown manufacturer. Since bonesplitterz' boxes are pretty generous in miniatures (which almost made it up for the lack of an SC! box) I tried to make a functional list with a small number of boxes (4 in this case). Allegiance: Bonesplitterz Leaders Wurrgog Prophet (140) - Artefact: Ju-ju Wotnotz - Lore of the Savage Waaagh: Squiggly Curse Wardokk (100) Savage Big Boss (120) - General - Granite Choppa & Shield - Trait: Prophet of da Waaagh! - Artefact: Lucky Bone Battleline 30 x Savage Orruk Arrowboys (420) 10 x Savage Boarboy Maniaks (280) 10 x Savage Boarboy Maniaks (280) Units 2 x Savage Big Stabbas (100) 2 x Savage Big Stabbas (100) Battalions Kunnin' Rukk (200) Endless Spells Chronomantic Cogs (60) Total: 1800 / 2000 Extra Command Points: 5 Allies: 0 / 400 Wounds: 153 I'm clueless about how to fill up the remaining points. Maniak weirdnob? Trolls? Anyway, let me know what you think. Cheers!
  17. I see. I never buy anything at the GW webstore, thought we might have found another repacking. Oh, well...
  18. Looking at GW's webstore right now. Several items are "temporarily out of stock". Not only moonclan units (warboss and hoppers) but also vanilla orcs, boar chariot, and wolf riders. Make of that what you will.
  19. Definitely. Not trying to ****** off Empire players, but I honestly think the Landsknecht look doesn't fit AoS aesthetic. But I don't think GW will openly ditch them, neither.
  20. There's beauty on a list that can be done with exactly two "start collecting!" boxes and nothing more.
