  1. nagash - 800 necromancer - 110 vampire lord - 140 40 skellies - 280 20 chainrasp 160 5 direwolves 60 30 grimghast 360 =1910 7 drops Pendulum /shackles + cp = 90/70 Because the more I think about it, grims are finally a good summonable hammer. I've had bad luck with black knights
  2. Yeah saw The guy blood and he didn't get cogs off ruining his ambush charges.. Reik would fix that instantly definitely an advantage because you can't run arkhan in blood. [Edit or is it night I always mix those up]
  3. That's a big damper on the ally potential indeed. Cements grimghast and chaingast as the only nighthaunt worthy of LON. next big question than is the executioner as a cheap hero for lon with its point cost it competes with endless spells additional CPs. Which are extremely important in Nagash builds. But only really gives more pop summonable out of graveyards. But for 60 more you get a VL. Hmmm I'm going to try and build up some analyse for which starter set units are good enough for lon beyond grims and chaingast... What does nighthaunt bring beyond grimghast reapers and chaingast.
  4. Some really interesting thoughts! Definitely going to respond more thoroughly, but your point about chainrasp really got me. Running a 20 man skellies is just wrong but running 20 chaingast actually feels like a solid choice, opening some breathing room for put overpriced named characters! Will do some list building and thinking!
  5. That's a list with a plan of attack! Not sure about the midnight tome, I don't think the magic is particularly strong and with the banshees you have enough to dispel. But I wouldn't know which one I'd replace it with. Also would chainghast be a nice Backline objective holder why they atleast impact the board with a shooting attack? Bubble them with chainrasp.. I don't know definitely going to try this essence this core that you thought up in a vanguard game to get a good feel of what nighthaunt does best. Thanks for the ideas
  6. I agree and hopefully we can get some more generalized discussioned in this thread and some more build/meta specifics in the other threads. I already posted this in the GHON one, but I'd like to hear some other perspectives! What is core for a death list? To paraphrase from the GHON thread; in a 1v1, 1 person will benefit from going long and 1 person will benefit from a shorter game. My idea on what is powerfull in death is pretty basic: Hordes & Magic. A very good example of this is VDM & summonable units, with the biggest one being the recently added Grimghast Reapers. So is a necro core? Or only if you run Arkhan/Nagash to copy VDM? How much is fullfilling a battleline role worth? Should you always pump the maximum amount of Skittles? or is 40/5/5 (skellies/wolf/wolf) enough? What the hell should you ALWAYS be running in any Legions of Nagash set up? Did some random fiddling and don't want to delete my previous thoughts ? Vhordrai and Nagash is 800+480=1280 points, with 720 points remaining you can't even fit a decent amount of hordes in the list which nullifies the best command ability of Nagash. Let alone enough necro's (=Vanhel's Danse Macabre) and summonable hordes and battlelines! VDM and Arkhan is a good combo and Arkhan+Vhordrai (320+480=800) 1200 points lefts.. Necro, 40/5/5 Skellies/wolf/wolf, 30 Grimghasts (110+280+60+60+360)=870 OR Necro, 40/40/5 Skellies/Skellies/wolf, 30 Grimghasts (110+280+280+60+360)=1090 So enough wiggle room for endless spells, another hero, additonal command points etc.
  7. That's some solid arguing in favor of orb. I removed it because I get depressed by the 4+ rolling a 1 ? But I forget the high rolling 7+ MW that I did after double casting it ? Thanks for the info and definitely forgot about it poking through a mirror is a huge upside! Do you consider the mirror to be the starting point of the line? Or did you do really awkward angle measurements ?
  8. Orb over spectral grasp? How big was spell portal for you during the day
  9. That isn't a lot of bodies, what's your plan on taking objectives?
  10. cogs speeding up skeletons does seem extremely powerful, What endless spell would you rather fit in a Nagash list? Or is there no room for it? Also I'm going to shout dust off next time I cast hand of dust ?
  11. Yeah maybe having less topics would be a good idea.. But you gotta box it all some way I think the discussion started with a list with Nagash in it and how tight it is to fit anything in such a list (or was that another thread? mobile phones are terrible for this hehe). Vhordrai and Nagash in one list is way to heavy on points you can't fit decent battlelines in it and it leaves little room for enough necros. Vhordrai and arkhan on the otherhand does leave more room. Reason I switch to arkhan is that I get your 3 army type comment, but isn't all those plusses to cast a strong suite of death and something that should definitely be abused? And after that summonable unit summoning and thus dance macab is the nuts. I'm rambling a bit but my point is, you want to get off dance macab on a big block of summonable units and destroy anything that's on your objective.. So in the end the list always sums up to : strong caster(s) , multiple heroes, big blobs, enough heroes for summonable unit abusal. So you are always ending up with an attrition list because that short sum of strengths suits attrition!
  12. It's an f-ing challenge that's what it is! 1200 points for heroes and 3 battlelines is a big challenge for me. For instance Nagash+necro+VL=1040 points, picking 2x40 skellies or 40/30 skells/GGs leave you with 1610 or 1750.. All in all it just feels super tight. Would you for instance ever run a skeleton squad as sub 40? [EDIT]: Maybe we should just make a list, what is core in a death list running Nagash, with the current available missions in mind. Actually... this does kind of fit... I think I'll just have to accept I can't run 120 skellies, 30 reapers and multiples heroes next to nagash... 13. You let the necro or vl cast the cog. How did the grimghast perform? Absolute blenders? Massive bummer that you had to face the mirror matches.
  14. That's really a way to round that army, although running 2 dreadblades allows for two artefact bearers. BC ain't a hero! Edit : But kosoes isn't a named hero ?. Anyway love this list 100% running it
