  1. I honestly don't think it's viable to play without Kavalos, he is the cheapest of 3 models that can use our only auto-working and the strongest offensive buff in the book - a +1 attack.
  2. And now on topic, there is 2 main objectives you need to accomplish to crumble his army: Kill Harbringer and debuff blightkings. To kill Harbringer you can use fighty flying units like Morghast, that would be a one-way trip for them, but it's well worth it. Or you can kill him with spells, like 8 arcane bolts from Nagash, Curse of the years from Arkhan, Amaranthine Orb through Spellportal. To debuff blightkings all you really need to do is cast Overwhelming Dread and they no longer get exploding attacks or blades of putrifaction. On top of that - add geminids to render them completely useless, they can also help killing Harbringer. With those 2 done you can proceed to destroying his army - a Purple Sun can be a great addition to your roster since it doesn't care about any of their defensive abilities. And just destroy everything with 40 skelletons buffed with Dance Makabre. To hinder his advance whille you try to kill HoD - bring dire wolves, they work as a perfect screening units. Also being a Death player you shouldn't have a problem with MWs sniping your characters, Nagash and Mortarchs have a lot of wounds as does VLoZD which can heal d6, Necromancer can simply shrug wounds to chaff. The only support pieces that can be in danger are Corpse Carts, VLs on foot and Wight Kings and you don't really need them to build a good list. Is there anything else that troubles you about his list?
  3. They weren't. And they are still worth it
  4. First, you quoted wrong person Second, @Pejzub mentioned taking at least 1 wizard in addition to kavalos and Arkhan. Which kinda makes sense to do
  5. Them dark bones sure look great, I think I'm going to try your recipe on some test skelletons, looking forward to see OBR painted by you
  6. I guess such core would be good: Arkhan - 360 Kavalos - 200 Shield-Corps - 120 Soulmason - 140 3x10 Mortek guard - 390 Nightmare Predator - 40 That's 1250 points, actually a lot of room to add bodies and fighty units EDIT: So, based on how I'm going to approach buying OBR I think I'll add 6 stalkers, 5 deathriders, boneshaper and +1 to hit obelisk spell to the roster above
  7. Any suggestions on how to push RD points generation to 5-6 a turn? I can't find situations where I'd want to bring 2-3 supporting wizards instead of bringing Arkhan the Black
  8. Such grand battles are amazing, we have a yearly local event which involves playing it - last year it was 48 000 points with 2 6k points armies from each GA, Order and Destruction against Chaos and Death. And in this battle Kharadrons actually did increadibly well shooting down everything that get's close, that was what won the battle for Order+Destr. team.
  9. I wish this box came out last year, right now I already have everything I want for my Sacrosanct chamber but 3 dracolines and 2 LOrdinators
  10. Buy it if you like Dracoline models, they are a decent unit, if not - tempest is probably better, as well as normal unit boxes
  11. Warcry isn't a way to get into aos as it only supports a small amount of armies.
  12. It is 2nd, the picture was somewhere on the previous page(s)
  13. Swords only do better against 6+ save, +1 attack makes them equal, -1 rend from petrifex make swords better against 5+ and 6+ without extra attack and they tie with extra attack. And overall morghasts damage output won't justify using them against hobo infantry - they are better suited as hero and monster slayers and that means better saves.
  14. GWs still haven't learned Staunch Defender lesson, which is very unfortunate
  15. Characters being faster is actually not a problem - Archai get the ability to intercept wounds from characters the same way Immortis do, the real problem is that 6 Immortis are way more resource-efficient than 3x2 Immortis
  16. As mentioned - all morghasts come with halberd flavor, Immortis Guard are about 25% less killy when you don't swing with shields again (which is very costly when you run 2 small units of them) and almost equal when you do attack a 2nd time with shields EDIT: I made calculations with +1 to hit and +1 attack from Kavalos with artefact and Stalkers in precision mode. Than I added improved rend from Petrifex Elite, top damage from 3 Stalkers against 4+ save is 20, from Immortis 15,33 / 18,33 (no 2nd shield attack / with 2nd shield attack)
  17. Good call, that might be a redeeming factor for Volkmortian
  18. Does someone have a picture of Feast of Bones battalion organisation? In previous starter boxes those battalions were restricted to fixed model count, if that's the case with Volkmortian's battalion - it's not worth taking since Volkmortian is such a joke.
  19. And this is quite possibly the biggest BS that GW might come up with, right in line with introducing mercenary companies, but than some of those units don't make it into CoS book, or releasing Gaming Book a couple of month after GHB
  20. Those rules are not intended to be enforced
  21. Nighthaunts and SCE got only spells, no terrain
  22. Simply swaping out one terrain piece with Nexus would be an easy solution, but I would expect TO's to re-arrange terrain according to how OBR player wishes to place Nexus
  23. I like both acronyms and jargon, sometimes it might be unnecessary, but writing down something like: Without acronyms is tedious and not worth it for me, especially when typing from smartphone. P.S. What's TLA?
  24. @Nizrah You get to make 3 wound rolls, 1 of which has increased damage
  25. It is written on Legion's rules pages before describing effects of traits and artefacts. You must use Legion ones
