  1. I fully expect Warcry to be like Killteam - ALL the factions can play! The differences being that its got a more complete campaign and game system; uses cards to speed up and make setup much more easily managed for newbies and also has "unique" models in the Chaos forces
  2. If its a book I really hope it does have more warbands inside it. Right now its madness that skaven are left out or indeed many of the chaos demon armies and suchlike.
  3. Kill Team was never a new model line, it was always the into game building off the core 40K sets. The idea being you bought into Killteam as a means to buy and play with 40K models without having to buy a whole army to get started. It was more a big marketing and game move to make something that has been in 40K for a very long time (kill team) and make it more interesting, more individual and also more aware to the market. Boosting its popularity to the point where it generates its own games and interest both from existing gamers and with a view toward newbies and oldbies who might have less free time and who still want to game. Warcry is broadly the same, only GW has been using it to deliver a bunch of Slaves to Darkness models alongside. I think they've also built it up from the ground to work smoother at being a quick-round quick to start game iwth the terrain cards and the like. I think that was aiming to really make it fast and also accessible. Solving two key issues - fast so that it doesn't waste time for those who don't have much free time; simple for those brand new to wargames who might not even have much of a local gaming scene yet. Cards that define terrain and all the objectives and such from the get-go means that you can play it with very little experience at setup.
  4. Nice also nice to see GW give a heads up that the core set is going to go out of stock before Christmas! They've also been a lot faster at bringing out the individual content for it than normal, which is very encouraging!
  5. Ogor ogre oger are all different spellings however only ogre gets a green light for most auto-spellcheckers. So it easily could be someone using Ogor as GW would use it and then getting a red underline and spellchecking it to ogre. Interestingly we do have Bonereapers scenery but no mention nor hint thus far of endless spells
  6. I don't see that. If GW wanted to discontinue the Cities armies I think they would have just discontinued them. Moving to 2.0 is the last perfect time for them to remove armies (like they have done with Greenskins and most of the Highelf stuff) before cementing them into the future of AoS as a game. If they start culling whole armies again its going to throw a spanner in the works and lose so much marketing and consumer confidence in AoS. Instead I think we will see one of several approaches: 1) They will flesh out Cities and expand upon it, new and updated sculpts replacing existing ones to build upon what they've established. 2) They will treat it a bit like Legions of Nagash. A short term catch all combined arms army that keeps several concepts and armies ticking over and popular and will then address, in time, aspects of the army. So in 5 years we might see them release an update to Dwarves which uses most/all of the models in Cities and expands upon them, adding reinforcements and updating some sculpts along the way. Note this doesn't mean they all get an update, it might just mean that one or two aspects get updated and expanded upon, since Cities would still remain.
  7. I think there's a few things to consider: 1) The competitive scene isn't the only metric by which to measure Death. Indeed the nature of the competitive end means it can attract more people of the "sell it and buy the best most OP" type of people, so sometimes armies that are good but not "broken" good can get left behind. 2) As for the many subfaction groups we will lose some and other might get boosted up. What GW's plans are is impossible to divine these days. They could expand some out like taking the vampires, and make them into big armies; they could update existing lines with new models (FEC) do both or even release another wildcard like Bonereapers. 3) Remember the whole "GW IP Protected" stuff is JUST NAMES. Nothing GW has produced in, say, the new bonereaper army is protected besides their names. You can right now go out and design your own undead bone construct walking corpse harvester with a gators bone head and a little set of arms at the groin and no one can stop you. Heck people already compare them to Skeletor and Skeleton warriors in design and concept. As an Alliance I expect it to grow by at least one or two more armies worth over the next 10 or more years. I'd expect to see Vampires fleshed out and perhaps Deathrattle (or a similar regular skeleton army) as well. That would give them a ghost army; a vampire army; a skeleton army and a construct skeleton army; not to mention Nagash's legion.
  8. Still got lots of stuff up for sale! Chariots, woodelf battalions, some heroes !
  9. I'd really love to see GW bring back Bretonnia in concept - knights, horses (well cavalry as they might be riding horses and pegasus and giant cat snakes as well), chivalry, castles etc..... A bit of classic Arthurian style then throw a nice bundle of magic on top and some AoS twists and magic and such. They wouldn't be Bretonnia but the concept would be a really sound one.
  10. I think some concepts such as high and low fantasy can be somewhat down to personal interpretation. High fantasy doesn't have to have everyone blinged out to the eyeballs with finery, sometimes some rough and ready rustic is needed too. Many times it can balance things out. Plus many high fantasy series still rely heavily on the same core components and things like humans and dwarves should not be overlooked. Heck Malazan Book of the Fallen is VERY high fantasy epic and yet one of the core sets of characters are sappers. Dressed in nothing but standard military gear, nothing more than (mostly sorta kinda) regular humans from the visual side. Dirty grubby sappers and yet they hold their own against incredible odds of high fantasy. Later on in one of the most epic books one whole "faction" goes to war with peasants weight of numbers style (like skaven clanrats, only people). So again whilst you might have epic wizards and the like; never underestimate the power of lots of regular people. As a setting I also think it keeps it grounded in a bit of reality. Because not every army is going to be chock full of heroic heroes; having your Cities of Sigmar armies comprised of mostly the "normal" peoples of the realms is a fantastic thing. It shows that they aren't just pawns to be fawned over by protective superpowered Stormcast. It shows that humanity, dwarvanity and elfininty can survive in the hostile and powerful worlds of the Realms I would agree many of the models do need revitalising though, esp many of the core troops, however don't underestimate the power of paint. Sometimes a model can look dated because it was painted as such and a different style can result in a big difference. As for the future I'm sure that GW would love to release new models - in fact most of the AoS armies would benefit. From armies like Skaven and Seraphon who have extensive model lines, but a lot of old sculpts in metal and finecast or just early plastics that could be replaced; to armies like Fyreslayers and Flesheaters who need more models to increase their overall army diversity and visual appeal.
  11. Yes, the Grey Seer and the Clawlord are both in the book. They can both be allied to any of the current Chaos Warbands in the game.
  12. It's more that the competition is on the 7th of November but that's well over a month away - just seems early to tease us those details when normally you'd want that info right up close. Still that gives us a whole month to work out what to put on those christmas lists.
  13. Kinda curious that the competition doesn't start until November and yet they are advertising it now - a month early I'd say Still neat looking mini and nice to see another from the distance past getting to reappear!
  14. I could see DoK getting some elite guard type warriors, heavily armoured and perhaps slower but a solid tarpit unit to compliment their glass cannon witches and sisters. As for new armies there's always hints, the lore is rife with options in AoS from realm themed armies to subfactions to niche groups. As for today all hints suggest more Underworlds. We might also get some 40K and heck GW could pair them up, otherwise expect more Beastgrave.
  15. DoK actually look fine with their current crop, the only odd model is the Cauldron and that sort of looked odd always. Most of their sculpts are pretty new anyway, the only older sculpt might be the riders, but I don't think they'll be updated any time soon. I'd rather see them fleshed out with more options - perhaps some beasties or shadow monsters, a form of artillery; some new infantry types; a giant monster; a new leader etc... Same for many of the other smaller forces, I'd rather see them diversify and broaden before they are revisited for updated sculpts.
  16. Mono themes depends on the army though - Gloomspite Gitz has about 3 core themes within its army and does really well for it. It was a massive release though and a lot of new and updated stuff was added to the force; many other AoS armies are thus far much smaller with only a handful of models (many of which are duel kits) so that drastically reduces their visual variety. It's something that will hopefully be resolved in time as GW adds more variety to those armies. As for Chaos there's no news at all. Right now it looks like the last thing for AoS that's big will possibly be Ogres which, far as we know, is still on for This year, though could always slip its dates and they are already hinted at November, the last month before Christmas and not forgetting November is also full with Sisters of Battle that will likely take up at least 2 weeks of releases (half the month). So now its looking to 2020 for Slaves to Darkness to get an update, when itsn't known nor its nature, but I'd water Q1 along with Seraphon, KO and Tzeentch getting updated 2.0 Battletomes which should take the whole game nearly into 2.0.
  17. The light change around this time of year, shifting from summer into winter and the shorter days is a trigger for SADS which might be influencing your depression. You might consider some daylight bulbs or look into other methods for avoiding/reducing the impact of SADS. Other methods can be things like exercise and diet. Both of which can have quite dramatic effects on our mood and mental health without us realising. Finally don't beat yourself up about it, its your hobby, your free time. Sometimes all you need is a little break, try something new, or paint a different model or something totally not model related at all. A little change, sometimes even just one evenings worth, can help you recharge your enthusiasm.
  18. Just the Grand Alliance rules, no specific army rules are in the book. So it doesn't fully replace the generals handbooks.
  19. Really great work there! Love the video as it really lets you get a look at all the detail you've put into the diorama!
  20. Reviews of the new mini rulebook. Overall sounding really good and cuts down on a lot of bulk carrying of rules. The only things I think that really feel like they are missing that would have been nice to add are the mercenary and meeting engagement rules; otherwise they seem really well put together. I can accept FAQ/Errata not being thrown in because they tend to update fairly often and the logistics of design, print, ship, supply of a physical book would have left it already out of date in those terms by the time it arrived now (to say nothing of in under a month when Orruks and Cities get FAQ and Errata documents of their own).
  21. Normally we get just a hint or two if its visible on a warscroll pack product photo. Otherwise we still have a week before they will likely update the army stats.
  22. Ossiarch might or might not be a good time; their core release is so close to Christmas that I would wager many keen on them would already have blown large chunks of money at the launch event. If there were a month or two back sure.
  23. Current theory is "Hero Man" the poster character that appears in a poster on some pages in the comic when showing the humans. Also the Orruk Warclands and Free Cities tabs are now up in the GW Store! It's coming - the Pre-order is really coming - its happening people!
  24. From memory they tend to get previewed around the stat of December and get released during that month. They are produced in large numbers, but once the stock is gone its gone. A Gloomspite I'd wager could sell out really fast; whilst Slaves to Darkness (army with no battletome) still has theirs from last christmas on sale. Note if you're intersted in that expect it to vanish from sale come November/December (GW generally clears them out)
