meet.the.doctor
After a long while I decided to start some kind of a blog on this forum as I come here quite often and it would be good to leave some trace of my Warclan. The idea of starting a Bonesplitterz army came to my mind after seeing the new Battletome which for me had the same vibe like the oldschool Orcs&Goblins Rulebooks from the 90's when I used to play. As a sentimental hobbyst I decided to use that occasion and bring back the whole range of boyz since the 80's till last plastics. Going through the book it gave me an idea that the oldest models would be perfect for regular boyz as they were much smaller than latest Savages (they are ****** in the game anyway) and the new plastics fit the best as Morboyz, Maniaks and Stabbas. Big and Brutish. So I started browsing on eBay... spent a lot of money and got me a lot of boyz to paint... for next couple of years. I'll add all pictures gathered through last year+ of creating the Warclan. Starting with my recent achievement - The Armies on Parade. I took part in Games Workshop Warsaw (Poland) and won as The Best Scenery and The Best Themed Army. Though the competition wasn't that big (only 4 people taking part in Age of Sigmar in the shop) creating the Warclan and the scenery was a lot of fun. Here are some pictures of the Wayang Topeng Warclan. Enjoy and get ready for the story to begin.
Gorks Pokin' Finger
I love the color of the Orc skin, and those old models actually look stellar on the display board. The board itself looks top notch as well. Looking forward to reading more of your stuff
meet.the.doctor
I forgot to update this topic!!! So much going on recently and it is time to give some tribute to the boyz! Warbosses and Prophets! Today I present you the ARRER Boyz of the Wayang Topeng Clan and their brief history: The project started a while after I started putting together Bonesplitterz army. This was one of the first units that I decided to build, of course in the infamous Kunnin' Rukk formation . I decided to go for a full 40 (aaahh the good old days of GHB16 and 120 arrows). The plan was - as in the first post in this topic - regular boyz need to be done from the old 90's sculpts. So I searched eBay and bought most (maybe without 3) existing 90's (and 1 or 2 80's) Savage Arrer Boyz. Finding it all, than stripping from strange paints from past century took me a lot of time( 3 months). To collect all 40 of metals would be almost impossible (and would cost the same as whole plastic BS army), so I decided to cast some of them in resin. It wasn't cheap either but at least affordable and easier than searching the web and bathing in dettol. The only Arrow Boy that is from plastic is the unit Boss. I decided that it needs to look like a real leader so he needs to stand out. Easier to find on the battlefield too. No banners and drummers. Just pure power. To paint them just in base colors was an overwhelming task. I had to ask (not force ) my girlfriend to help me, because otherwise I would cry after first 10. Until today I cannot imagine how we did it and we did it just before a tournament I was taking part in. BTW it were her first minis ever painted (except of one retributor I gave her to "test the skills") and she did great. Doesn't want to paint anymore though The boyz played since that time in couple tournaments gaining their eternal glory and hatred among their opponents. None of them knew at that time that innocent Kunnin Rukk would be nothing comparing to Tzeentch curse coming in the next months... I even bought a special bag for rolling 120 dice (YES!!) and special 10mm Warlord dice sets. 4x 30. Today I have one set of 30 for sale... (Curse you GW!) Last year in march I had to travel in business to the other side of the globe for 3 months. I thought I would have some free time so I decided to take 20 of the boys with me and couple of paints and decided to FINISH painting them. Sounded easy. 20 models 15 paints 4 brushes 3 months. Easy.?.. not quite. Tasmania is so beautiful and interesting that even during rainy days I could barely find some time for painting. And in the hotels it is hard to find a decent painting lamp. Anyway I managed to do couple of layers of skin and base for warpaints. Also decided at that time that if they are "Arrow Boyz" than the main theme for warpaint will be... an ARROW! with the tip on the head. I didn't want to paint them in regular greenskin color scheme either. I play only greenskins. I paint only greenskins. I have MOST of their models. Doing everything in Waaagh Flesh->Warboss Green->Skarsnik Green would be terribly boring. The 90's models look savage and "african" so I thought a darker color scheme would be proppa. Classic red-wood bows and yellow pelts to contrast with that. And all the metal rings in reddish metallic (Copper I think). Dark skintone contrasts really good with bright warpaint. I didn't have time to finish them than, but I was even able to collect couple of bone trophies on the south side of the globe! In May Skirmish was released and at that time I was staying in a hotel close to Games Workshop Hobart. So I played my first (and only) skirmish game there. Lost it against some stinking aelves, but was fun anyway. I got some gray reinforcements from the shop. Thanks guys! After I came back to Poland I have organized a Path to Glory campaign, a special campaign only for destruction players (this is when Wayang Topeng Warclan was born. More on the campaign later). The boyz played the key part of course and deserved some final touches before going to ...Armies on Parade! Inspired by my Big Bosses "Glowing Tatoos" trait and the Aqshy background of my Warclan I decided to paint all of the tatoos with Vallejo Fluo line. It is quite tricky and on these models didn't work exactly as I wanted but at least I learned in the end how to do it. Glazing with brighter layers doesn't work. Fluo paint work like a charm on white. As simple as that. I discovered this while painting the eyes. Here I also wanted to follow the Bonesplitterz theme - so savages ran by a spiritual need for hunting. The green eyes from Warcraft the movie were my inspiration for that (the film is soooo bad, but Orcs look proppa). All of the tattos (except of the arrow going through the head an as straight lines on all limbs) were inspired by Bonesplitterz fluff. So every boy has "Manik" (eng. "Insane") tatoo on their backs, and some have "Mor" ( "Savage, feral, ancient") and "Gronk" ("Kill, die, stupid") on their bellies. Some have also the arrow representing Kunnin Rukk battalion. The boyz are still doing good and are of course the base of my Warclan. No matter how much the opponents hate and how much headache it brings to count all the dice. The Kunnin Rukk iz, wuz and will bee DA BESTEST! No matta whut you ZAPPER and flyin STUMPI warlurds think! Waaaaaagh!!
meet.the.doctor
Another update: This time back to the origins and core of my army: The regular shield Boyz!!! They appeared since the beginning as the core of Kunnin and Brutal Rukks in my army. Always stood ground with their shields... but never killed a snotling even.... My idea was to collect most of Savage Orcs aka Bonesplitterz ever released. And the weakest ones were to represent the weakest units. This is why 80s and 90s boys were chosen for regular shield boyz. Arrer boyz may be exception, as they are absolute core of Bonesplitterz, but they also fit my idea - before you become a real Moreboy or Maniak killer you need to stand behind the lines either with a bow or be a cannon fodder with shield in front. Apart from great appearance (classic sculpts) back from the 80s and 90s they never brought much value to my Warclan. The idea for them was to put them on 25mm bases as they are rather small miniatures and seamed to look good on small bases. And when I realized how crappy they are I was happy with that decision. My Moonclan grots can do better than these guys so I don't regret putting them on "illegal" bases. Despite taking part in most of my games (they were the cheapest ****** battleline in Destruction back in GHB16 days - or at least from my collection) they are on retirement now, standing proud on the shelf with Armies on Parade Badge. Collecting dust They were the first ones I found on eBay and painted. I tested on them 2 types of skintones (maybe the diffrence is not too much visible here) - as I wrote in previous post I tried to make them "dark green skinz". I divided them into 2 units: Da Skin Reaper Boyz: Mainly 90s Savage Orcs, but by accident I bought 3 Harlequin metals (or was cheated on eBay), but they fit the group. There are 2 boyz from earlier editions I think (80s perhaps). All of the boyz in this unit are in leather so it is easier to recognize them on the board. A little warmer skintone also, but even I don't notice it on the board Da Nude Boyz: Hahaha. Boyz in tongz. Poor ****** have even less clothes than the other unit but at least one of them got the AoP badge glued instead of shield finally. At least 4 of these guys are almost as old as me These ones I mean. I was thinking to but some more from the old school range, but since I decided to play them as the weakest shield savages it makes not much sense since I have a loooooot more to paint. Next time - some of Da Great Bosses will apear. And maybe some fluffy background.
Skabnoze
What company makes the huts and other orc terrain on the board? Those look very familiar and I would like to pick up some of them!

meet.the.doctor
It has been a while since last update, so just briefly with some pictures from the phone. This year I was quite busy and had only ONE AoS game with my Boniez... which fortunatelly I won! This was one of Malign Portents matched play scenarios and I was testing Warboss on Wyvern and unit of 4 Stabbas. Both won me the game so they made it imidiatelly to the painting table So I decided to start finishing Bonesplitterz army before new Moonclan arrives (my main army since forever). Not having too much time for hobby (couple hours a month) it is quite tricky and the project is still big. Right now I am working on: 20 more Arrow Boyz 20 Morboyz 4 Stabbas Warboss on Wyvern Warboss on Boar Wardokk A unit of 4 Big Stabbas: Comparing to my regular boyz they are BIG! Shield boys are the skinny ones from 80s-90s on 25 mm bases (illegal now), so Stabbas next to them really stand out. 2 of them are regular ones, but the other 2 I had to kit bash. I used Giant’s club for one stabba, and another club for the other pair of Stabba boyz. The only finished one in this pair is holding a giants head which they tore apart from the body! Morboyz are also more bulky than shieldboyz - I have chosen the 6th ed metals + recent plastics as they seem most savage and tough - exactly as our main foot troops. Because of limited time I started practicing airbrush, otherwise it would take ages. Well anyway it takes ages... I am still on the base color stage. There is also another 20 of Arrowboyz. Along with my already do e 20 they used to be one unit of 40 boyz... back in 2016 - the year of Destruction Glory. and finally my Command Group! Both Warbosses were waiting far too long to use their abilities in Bonesplitterz army. This one I had started juzt when the rumours about allies fir GHB17 were revealed. And dropped the project on the day when I got the book and realised that allies cannot use Command abbilities... well now they can! my Warboss on Boar WITH Banner. Banner is from my almost finished FW standard bearer, boar and body from Gorbad and the head from a Raging Heroes Warboss. One of my favourite minis in my army! and finally my Warboss on Wyvern. I will write in more detail about him one day but here is a teaser: old Wurrzag who replaced his boar for Wyvern. Corresponds to the first art that showed Bonesplitterz on Wyverns... update about him hopefully soon!
meet.the.doctor
I tested my Warboss on Boar with Banner on a small local tournament - 1500 pts. Didn’t win much but added 2 Korgoraths and GUO to my Monster Trophies. Da Boss shined on the tournament so he made it to the painting table. Morboyz even with Waaagh! won’t do miracles. Combo - Waaagh! + Banner + BigBoss + 2xStabbas killed GUO in 1 round. Good punch with decent rend. Next time will add a better weapon for Big Boss and bigger unit of Stabbas. Still WiP but getting closer: and Stabbas: Warboss got his name finally as he reminds me the Warboss from Warhammer Mark of Chaos: Battle March - GORBASH!! (Yes, I am still playing that 2006 game;) ) ”I am da biggest and da baddest!”

meet.the.doctor
Time for last update for this thread... it has been some time. I managed to 90% finish my Warboss, just days before my son was born. Now there is a new Warboss (Loonboss? or Snotboss?) in da house so I have limited time for developing my Waaaaagh! Haven't played a game and finished a single miniature for couple of months. But the young one is pretty good at practicing his "Waaaagh!" shouting on daily basis. He is going to be a proppa boss in couple of years Now the time to reveal finished (in 90%) Gorbash Da Biggest and Da Baddest: Still needs some blood and work on the base, but that will happen in the future when I will come back to the big brothers. Now Wayang Topeng goes to the shelf for some well earned battle brew hollidays and it is time for... Gloomspite!!!
