  1. The pdf of this morning told us "what new 40k starter?" meaning maybe that they didn't want to reveal the box content so soon. We will have 40K rules explanations and reveals in a dayly basis according to this very same pdf file (which comes from warhammer comunity). But indeed, this reveal was super poor in term of miniatures but rich in term of strategic products and orientation(digital rules, digital centralized codices and rules, new 40K -v9-, totaly new units, etc...). More to see soooooon .
  2. That is super good for you: buy X (x=2 or 3) starter sets, there are so many Primaris armies, that you'll be able to sell the SM half at good price in no time. Sell also the goodies and the book and done! You have already a nice necron army for super cheap!
  3. Nothing about AoS.. It is a BIG thing about their main cash cow. The focus and the the hype are maximum. Some leaks (pics about necrons/primaris) are already spreading out there and it is indeed huge and magnificent.
  4. Well, if you read the text correctly, they don't say "here is a new shinning 40K new box", but they say "dark imperium will disappear in few weeks blablabla new necrons". So, GW humour here to say......hummm new starter box 😛
  5. It's official, 40k has a new release. So, expect a massive 40K release schedule (probably) from end of june and then summer... https://www.warhammer-community.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/P5bh1SJn8q0P6qV8.pdf
  6. I don't agry about that: horrors are fine: they quicly lose on fight. They don't do much more that shaff. Bataillion, dunno. What make the horrors so in despise is the gaund wich will probably go up by 20 , not more I think. I think that 20 is a bit high. Some will go -10 (kai/tz/HQ ), few -20 (sky/LoC/kairos) to make a heavy tzaang chicken army (like I'd like). (Probably one of the most beautiful in DoT). But I expect a large discount on max unit.
  7. LoC/Kairos , tzaangors , enlighten/skyfire, kairic , spawn are a bit high. Emphasis on "a bit". Just need a little adjustment. But 10pts here and there and you get another unit somewhere that make the difference. Gaunt will probably see a slight up. dunno for the others.
  8. I think that next week (06/30) preorder will be all the 40k range (Psy Akekening 7 + Admech , eventually zoat etc...) and then the Lumineth range (maybe split in 2 weeks/times) making the whole thing less than a month. We will be fixed Saturday with the BIG reveal. My guess: saturday, big 40K v9 anouncement. Calendar as usual for such a thing: summer 2020. They (almost) won't delay anything about this big release. That's why I think PA 7&8&9 will be out in no time and lumineth ASAP (to keep AoS interest & focus as high as possible). For AoS, my main interest goes to Sons of Behemat, but honnestly, I don't see them out before september the sooner.
  9. and now , list in £....but with price difference. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1yLzaadQA1_XpSDRHMpMrpM4lO-S1Uhank7eC8KGVsxw/htmlview?usp=sharing&pru=AAABcl_Dznk*nGmqU2PR9yj6VK0GiQ7q3Q
  10. Here a list that seems "legit" about old/new price (in €) https://imgur.com/a/3mQ4ve7 I'm at the end of finishing most of my armies but I intended to invest this year in few things. Especially this summer to get done with my main armies (Archaon and several secondary HQ, not mandatory ...). The budget was around 250€. TBH, now, I'm seriously thinking of postponing buying to invest in a resin printer (same budget). Not really to replace the miniature, but more to enjoy this hobby in another complementary way that opens so widely on another world! (for far less money). BTW few things that I noticed: - several BASIC troops increase: unacceptable! (skeletons, skitarrii, rubrics, etc....) - several old not super detailed kits with poor sprues but MANDATORY in several armies: spawns (I love this kit through...) daemon prince (golly gee!!!???!!!).... - monsters/behemoths: worst example is vermilord: was cheap, already raised last year dramatically and now will be priced sky high!!! - most things +10%, several important kits (= mandatory in several armies and efficient=spamable) are way more 20% increase
  11. I'm not in UK but I foresee a drop in the £=>€ exchange rate: that'll compensate a bit this price increase 😜 (or not mouhahahahaa)
  12. I like the theme. But here are my 2cts: 2*20 kairic: at least I'd go 1*10+20 30 tzaangors: a bit overkill: I'd go 20. that gives you 280pts to get something more useful. Some skyfire+ES, or a gaunt sumoner+ES, or something else...
  13. @GunslingerOy you know , you can hit the little symbol of the lower right of the message to say THANK YOU (or SAD / LOVE IT etc...?) It is a nice part of this amazing forum to share some feeling or experience and get some rewards 😉 .
  14. The V9 40K starting box set is rumored to be SM vs Necron. Buy 2 (even 3!) ressell the SM and the books and even the goodies: you'll have almost a necron army ready for super cheap.
  15. I'm not really counting on it (even if I expect it 😉 ) but I just did 2 daemon princes and 4 spanws: so many bits to chaossizing the upcoming gargants!! Those are the best kits to get many chaos little pieces to kitbash anything and make it chaos looking.
  16. Tzangors are good but need to be buffed; a bit exensive and a bit slow. Enlighten and skyfire are good and can be deadly if played/buffed right. Shaman is a must have in a tzaangors list. Kairic to help and feel the battlelines. After this, you have to think about your strategy: heavy hitters? hordes? harasment hit'n run like? Magic (need more wizzards)? etc... Final note: do you need (ultra) competitive? in this case, tzaangors heavy list are not the best in tzeentch.
  17. As most other already told you: depend on what you call "fun". So, here a little "strategy to decide" 1: define "fun" 2: define "timeline" : is it an army "one shot lets have fun" or is it something you want to play for a long time, build around it etc... 3: what do I like? aesthetically, lore, gameplay... 4: budget. I can't decide for you but I have few suggestions. Ogors are indeed interesting and not that expensive, especially with a pseudo spammable Start collecting! . I tend today to invest in armies that have a wide range of miniatures. Skaven are in this category. But you have some ultimate choice if you want ultimate richness of builds...and fun : chosing an army that have possibilities outside its own battletome. I have 3 main examples: 1: Cities of Sigmar + stormcast or whatever order (KO etc..) Not the best example but it works. 2: LoN + some NH or (more efficient) + OBR 3: My actual ultimate choice: chaos !! I am building DoT army during lockdown. This is probably one of the richest tome we have. So many things to have a blast with. So many fun things! Infinite builds, from "with ton of fun" to "top tier". They can do whatever you like (assuming you like the design). gret movment (mounted on discs) great infantry, great gunline, so many magic , etc... From infinite build, you can go to double infinite build by adding StD. In fact, I started with StD and then went DoT. And this is not finish: From StD, you can fo all 4 chaos gods, or Archaon etc... So, you got me? You want fun? Try magic with some endless spells that make weird effects in glass canon list. Try a list full of disks (skyfire/enlighten, gaunt, magisters, shaman etc...) with Kairos or LoC who play cat and mouse game and summon some spawns everywhere. ...
  18. Speaking about them....stardrake has 2 builds, Vermilord has 4 or 5 builds, Ancient tree 3 builds, etc... if the teclis mini is stuck to ONE build, it'd add a layer of disappointment on a miniature that already disappointed a lot of people out there... At least, they could have pushed the concept to a mounted/fighting phoenix to get another behemoth...
  19. Well, look back the last 4 new armies (all with (too) few entries): If they had done only ONE less army, they could have add 2 multi kit to each new army, meaning probably 4 more entries per army. This is A LOT. And I would have prefered this solution whereas adding new armies for the sake of only adding things. I think that with 24 armies now, AoS should add some new units to existing armies. But maybe, that's what is planed for AoS 3 and the rewrite of all battletomes... (look what they are doing for 40K & PA , especially with admech in the next few days...) OK. Back to the topic.
  20. During lockdown, I'm buiding my Tzeentch miniatures. DoT has a so HUGE range of minis!!! wow!! My first in this kind of army was LoN and the big range of minis and builds make me fall in love with this army back in the early LoN days... I also have lesser range armies (FEC & Ogors for example) and I must say, when you have under your finger so many different miniatures in a sole army of DoT, it is difficult to dive into something like the lumineth, especially when the biggest doesn't please to me. Add to this that you can even widen the range of minis by adding some more StD minis (even in a pure DoT and AS DoT), this is an endless fun ! In addition to this, waiting for giant to add one, because while building the DoT I also added 2 daemons princes and 4 pawns: those minis left sooooooooooo many little bits to kitbash more evil things that I'm looking forward to personalize my upcoming (chaos) giant! This is another difficult thing with the newest armies: they are relatively hermetic to adding some other miniatures, by rules, by look and by design. (ex: KO, ID, DoK...).
  21. If one can use this ES more than once per turn, I think that it is OP. Teclis+another mage make this thing both (almost) auto casting super powers! Teclis autocast => the ES become +5 then second mage cast at +5 ? Or even better : teclis use 2 autocast then ES=+3 then second mage use his first spell at +3 then teclis use his 3rd and 4th spell then second mage use it at +3 again??? wow the party's nuked mouaaaahahahaha
  22. That clarifies things but rises new questions: can we use it more than once per turn? Can we use it when it is at dice=1 (=cast+1) ? Example: 2 Lumi wizzards around it. Dice=3 (for example). Wiz1 casts at +3, then dice=1. Iets say Wiz1 has another succesful cast dice=2, then wiz2 cast at +2 ?
  23. Yep and that's why all my attention focuses on the Sons of Behemat. Why? Because not only it is an army but the fact that you can add one giant in all armies make a whole new game. And I don't care if it is competitive: it is a new tool to have some big fun with all your ready armies. That has no price for me. (Add to that that I'm in love with big/tall minis -except teclis- and you have a winner here!)
  24. TBH, time and technology aren't the same anymore. My WFB armies are full of metal miniatures. Now, you can have a block of 20 squeletons/kairic acolytes/whatever troops for cheap (hummm cheap in GW price scale). Nowadays, I'm pretty sure that a WFB costs the same as an AoS army. The WFB fail was mostly due to the bad development/marketing strategy and the focus on the cash machine 40K. At least they thought that way and that was their mistake (AoS proves they where wrong). With better management, they could have continued several superb if not best games in addition to 40K: 3 of them are my all time fav:battlefleet gothic (battleship miniatures!! miam miam!) , warmaster (in 6mm scale: loved this scale), Epic (oh dear! what a sublime game! super loved the scale and pace! definitly best of the best). For those 3 games, the fatal thing was: full metal mini range. GW couldn't manage. (In fact, they were afraid that the sales of epic could vampirise the 40K ones.../ same for warmaster and WFB/ what a shame🤔)
  25. I feel you. It is why I'm focusing only on eltharion as ally atm. ...or not(hing)
