  1. What I would love to know is this: will the Warscroll Cards that are already out for factions like Nurgle, Idoneth, Daughters, hell, everyone apart from Stormcast, Nighthaunt and (upcoming) Beasts, be reprinted in the new style? I have Daughters, Seraphon and Idoneth forces, and I'd love to get the warscroll cards for them, and I know it would be a bit sore for people who've already bought the existing ones, but I ain't investing in the old chunky format. So, rumour mongers... Whatcha got?
  2. I actually wish the model came with something other than a weapon- it makes me think he's a melee hero and then I throw him into 20 Dryads...
  3. +1 to hit, +1 to wound against the model that takes out that g o o d b o i
  4. My wallet literally cannot handle a Skaven release. Please, no.
  5. He's not nearly as impressive (or difficult to transport... ?) without the wings!
  6. Poor old Glaivewraiths. And I have 12 of them too!
  7. To be fair, it wasn't entirely representative as it was such a massive game that the Stormcast player simply failed to focus on her- she only took two wounds in the 3 turns we played, and I still had her one-use D6 heal/mortal wounds. She was a mortal wound machine: in the face of a strike force of Retributors, her spell Grief-Stricken was amazing for helping my Spirit Hosts and my ally's Wychelves to strike down the Sequitors and Retributors, and her shooting attack brought a lot of pain too once I was debuffing their bravery. Plus she's no slouch in combat!
  8. Anyone got any Skryre-specific suggestions for playing Daughters of Khaine?
  9. Well! A 1000 v 1000 game ended up as a 1000+1000+2000 v 4000 point game! What would have been Nighthaunt versus Sylvaneth became Nighthaunt, Sylvaneth and Daughters of Khaine against monstrous Stormcast army in the Focused Points (I think?) scenario. And we won! Men (trees?) of the match were the twenty Dryads who sat on the centre objective tanking three rounds of massed Stormcast shooting, but my Nighthaunt contributed ably. Lady Olynder is a beast, Spirit Hosts are awesome and the buffs from the Guardian of Souls and Spirit Torment should never be left at home. My Chainrasps did more damage to a Celestant Prime than he managed in return, and the Bladegheist Revenants wrapped up the game by securing objective 3 for us for a turn, ensuring a healthy six victory points on our final turn in spite of being shot to pieces next turn. Takeaways: - I am going to play Daughters of Khaine soon and that scares me. - Olynder! Olynder! Olynder! - Bladegheist Revenants should be in units of ten or they're too fragile. - Stormcast remain BULL$H!7 but open up the mortal wound can and they die all the same. Allegiance: Nighthaunt Mortal Realm: Chamon Leaders Lady Olynder, Mortarch of Grief (240) - General - Lore of the Underworlds: Reaping Scythe Guardian of Souls with Nightmare Lantern (140) - Lore of the Underworlds: Spirit Drain - Infernal Lantern (Artefact): Wychlight Lantern Spirit Torment (120) Battleline 6 x Spirit Hosts (240) 20 x Chainrasp Horde (160) Units 5 x Bladegheist Revenants (90) Total: 990 / 1000 Extra Command Points: 0 Allies: 0 / 200 Wounds: 60
  10. Hell, the Knight of Shrouds remains, IMO, the best of the Heralds and the only one I actually wanted.
  11. Easiest bits to get hold of will probably be the Stormfiends, Warplightning Cannon and Doomwheel, as they all have very nice plastic kits and are generally available. Some of the rest, like the old metal Arch-Warlock, can be found on GW's website, but the really nice plastic Warlock, poison wind mortar and warpfire thrower can only be found on the second-hand market these days. For Skryre Acolytes, you'll have to cough up for ancient metal models or, as many people do, convert your own (mine are mostly kitbashes of Stormvermin and gasmasked heads from other Skaven kits). Skryre allegiance abilities can be found in the General's Handbook 2018, for what they're worth (not a great deal), and the rules for the Skryre battalion and Enginecovens are in the Grand Alliance: Chaos book. Hope that helps, now go forth and delete your opponents with mortal wounds!
  12. Ah yes, Endless Spells- the 'Eavy Metal-painted Mortalis Terminexus (the hourglass) has the mouldline highlighted ?
  13. I will be very happy to see Destruction players get some love, and also relieved that the next release is not something I want any part of. My wallet couldn't take it, I've bought three new armies this year already ?
  14. Not quite to the heights of lunch in the Tzeentch canteen, but the considerable weight of discussion WRT Beastclaw Raiders moobs ended up making me lose it while I was in the queue for late-night fast food. And thanks for the shout-out lads, more positive descriptions of me laughing in front of bemused onlookers to come if you keep this up.
  15. Let's get this chat back to the real issue here: giving Sylvaneth a good raddishing. How does the Fly rule interact with Wyldwoods? If models run or charge across Wyldwoods they have a chance to get tree-buggered, but surely flying troops who can just go over the top with all the enthusiasm of Frenchman at Verdun are immune to that?
  16. Yes- they did it "because it would be cool". Nothing stopping you from doing that in anything other than a strict rules tournament, as long as your opponent doesn't mind!
  17. If you wanted to take Wave of Terror in its current form away, you would need to replace it with something that made it more of a sure thing but less often (like a twice-a-game ability, maybe). That said, there's no reason to take it away, so we're all good.
  18. So. Allegiance: Nighthaunt Mortal Realm: Chamon Leaders Lady Olynder, Mortarch of Grief (240) - General - Lore of the Underworlds: Lifestealer Guardian of Souls with Nightmare Lantern (140) - Lore of the Underworlds: Spirit Drain - Infernal Lantern (Artefact): Wychlight Lantern Battleline 6 x Spirit Hosts (240) 20 x Grimghast Reapers (280) Units 5 x Bladegheist Revenants (90) Total: 990 / 1000 Extra Command Points: 0 Allies: 0 / 200 Wounds: 55 Thinking of swapping the Revenants out for a Spirit Torment given how it's consistently performed over my first three games, but then I only have two units...
  19. Thanks for the advice everyone, really appreciate it! I'm not so butthurt now, I've started building my Bladegheists and I'm going to rip open my second box of Spirit Hosts today. Then it's on to Olynder so I can really open the mortal wound can!
  20. He didn't have a 2+ save, he was rolling 2+ to hit and wound thanks to an artefact.
  21. Right, now I've calmed down a bit, I can process. We generated a scenario from the GHB18 and the deployment zone... threw me for a loop I think, it was the one where the deployment zones are right next to each other so you can get in the fight straight away and something about this appears to have scrambled my brain, as I merrily plonked down my Chainrasps in range of his Spirit of Durthu, which promptly killed almost all of them when he got first turn. Six damage, and with the Ghyran artefact that gives +1 to hit and wound, so 2s and 2s... If it weren't for my remembering my death save I would have lost the whole unit right there in the first turn. And that's after doing 4 damage to Reikenor with his ranged attack. I hate the Spirit of Durthu. This is a point I may return to. Already playing like an idiot, I apparently decided to go full moron and, after a vaguely successful magic barrage (got some wounds onto the SoD and healed Reikenor back to full health), I got it into my head that the best place for the Grimhailer was in combat against 20 Dryads. In case any of you reading this have head injuries as brutal as the one I appear to have been suffering from, the best place for the Grimhailer is not in combat against 20 Dryads. SoD polished off the Chainrasps and then munched his way through the Spirit Hosts, before trying his luck against the Guardian of Souls, who was able to dodge survive where almost 30 wounds of ghosts had not. The Dryads finished off Reikenor, and the Spirit Torment won the coveted Nighthaunt of the Match award by being the only one to actually achieve anything, clubbing the Branchsomething (wych? Wraith? I have no idea. The one that can summon Dryads) to death. My Reapers did a lot of damage to the Dryads but then SoD turned up to do something stupid like 12 wounds to them, and given that by that point I had about 5 Reapers, a Spirit Torment and a wounded Guardian of Souls left, I threw in the ectoplasm-soaked towel. He had not even brought his Kurnoth Hunters or Spite Revenants onto the table. Even if I had not deployed like a gibbon or thrown Reikenor to a twiggy death, I am uncertain as to what I can do against SoD. The only thing that made a dent in it was all my spells, and he just regenerated. I am also at a loss about what to do against Wyldwoods- do I just have to try and pop terrain down to try and minimise how they can be placed? The set-up seems so lenient on them, and on a small board (48"x48") they are impossible to ignore. What can I do better, apart from get better dice? Also, I hate the Spirit of Durthu.
  22. Had the game. Aside from being dispirited by some absolutely appalling dice, I have two main takeaways: 1) The Spirit of Durthu is ******. 2) I am bad at this game.
  23. I've got (built): 30x Chainrasps 20x Grimghast Reapers 8x Glaivewraith Stalkers 4x Myrnmourn Banshees 3x Spirit Hosts 2x Chaingheists 2x Dreadblade Harrows Knight of Shrouds Guardian of Souls Lord Executioner Spirit Torment Reikenor Still to build: spooky ghosts aplenty (Black Coach, Kurdoss, Olynder, 10x Reapers, 4x Stalkers, 6x Spirit Hosts, 5x Hex Wraiths)
  24. I haven't been able to build Kurdoss yet, and I only have 20 Reapers built, so that won't work for me. I won't even be able to use my Revenants, as I didn't get the time I thought I would to build them, or even base my second 10 Reapers. Bit grumpy.
