  1. Shootcast can have their shot at a good spot, mostly because it's very anti-meta build right now. And I'm sure good players can get into top 10 spots with them (and it will happen therefor)... But given how often they are played, you'd expect to see them more often in top 10s than they currently do. That being said, it's also the most beginner friendly army, so the data is probably muddied a bit by a wide variation in player skill within this one allegiance. If you want a very good breakdown of the current competitive scene, I would refer you to Rob from the Honest Wargamer:
  2. It is actually the exact opposite... They are the most played faction by quite a large margin if you watch the LLV stats show, but they don't claim many top spots at all.
  3. That would be a mix of 80% apothecary white and 20% black Templar, with some extra shading of diluted army painter darktone.
  4. I'd go for white then. It really was a pretty pale colour.
  5. Not 100%, but 90+%. I still used metallic paints for the golds and blades/armour (not convinced at all by contrast NMM tbh). And I did use a spot of aggrax earthshade and nuln oil occasionally to accentuate some shading or to shade the metallics. I used darkoath flesh to shade the retributor armor base on the Kurnothi as well. Works like a charm for that.
  6. Grey-ish. I started with a black primer and then hit all the skulls with white artist inks with the airbrush... That kind of made 70+% of the model a colour that resembled Grey seer a bit. I then used aethermatic blue and that spilled over it quite a lot too, giving it a blue/grey tint. Black templar covered most of it quite well though, but it did leave the highlights cold, rather than warm. I'd say the end result looks a lot closer to using Grey seer as a basecoat, rather than wraithbone.
  7. This is just black Templar contrast paint with a light Vallejo wolf grey drybrush. Nothing fancy at all.
  8. Contrast paint sure is speeding up my backlog!
  9. Long time no update! I've been keeping busy, and I plan on going hard on the OBR release too! I've experimented a bit with black bone on my Neferrata model:
  10. Seems like a strong army. It's got some really solid warscrolls, but the points costs for most troops are pretty damn steep... And army wide, there are some harsh limitations. No cheap screens, no cheap objective sitters, no alpha bunker option (just a slow advance) and no way to get them in due to not having any allies. This will be a potent army for sure, but it does have some very obvious downsides to it related to the missions.
  11. I would much rather they went full card system for the rules: cards for allegiances, for artifacts, for spells, for everything. Make lovely looking binders so you can tailor your book to your army (with all necessary rules in one binder) and rules diffusion is no longer a problem. If one card/ability is utterly busted, just replace that one a year later along with GHB as an updated cardpack. And use the freed up space in the battletomes for more background, more painting tips, more "historical battles" your army partook in versus various factions so your gaming group can re-enact those moment better. You might even reduce piracy this way as well.
  12. And one day if they actually reveal anything at SPIEL this extended weekend.
  13. Took my Wild hunt in a different direction than the GW colourscheme: I immediately had to think of the night elves from World of Warcraft when I first saw the Kurnothi!
  14. After LoN (the soup tome essentially) and then the MASSIVE expansion of both the malignant creature type(being nighthaunt) and now, the reanimant creature type (being the bonereapers), I really fail to see how you can jump to this conclusion.
  15. I disagree... I like the cross pollination. GRR was just messy because GRR were undercosted for how good they are, and that's now fixed. I'd be mightily surprised if another Nagash + 2*30 GRR lists float to the top of tournaments now.
  16. I will surely pick up quite a few of the models, the cavalry just looks awesome. I also like the "smaller guys" (apart from the helmets, but that's beating a dead horse at this point), but I want to see just how big they are. A lot will depend on what battleline manipulations can be done. I like the smaller infantry, but after 80 skellies, 60 zombies, 40 chainrasps, 60 ghouls,... I don't feel like having to add a ton more weenie troops to a new army. I'm really hoping this can be one of the first undead armies that actually plays well as a highly elite force (sadly, the vampire heavy LoN lists are fun, but they aren't amazing on the battlefield).
  17. There's also one thing I noticed in the video... The scenery. There's a scene with the army laid out in front of repeating wall sections made of bone and skin. Either their bespoke terrain team made something that they were able to replicate several time (pretty much flawlessly), or we might be looking at a new necropolis wall section for potential use in siege games (like the old Khorne fortress).
  18. "These are not risen warriors or malignant spirits – they are bespoke war-constructs forged from harvested bone and gifted the soul animus of great warriors and heroes. " I'm not even going to try to be humble... called it! I'm just hoping Morghasts are also used in that new book, because that'll make me even happier than I am now!
  19. I'm not sure they are skeletons even... I'm looking at the video and these guys feel too "beefy" almost for skeletons (except ofc the mounts): That, and the armor being identical to the Morghasts, makes me lean more towards reanimants as opposed to skeletons.
  20. I've been saying on the FB groups for a while now, that I suspect this will be more about reanimants than about deathrattle... Especially seeing how the armor resembles that of the morghasts so much. It would also tie in a lot more with the end times releases for death: Nagash and his three mortarchs --> LoN Spirit hosts --> complete nighthaunt/malignant rework Morghasts --> complete reanimant rework.
  21. A full unit of Myrmourn banshees also joins the army! Also, now that my balewind vortex is finished, all the endless spells usable by death, have been finished! Crazy how all of this was released in a year by GW.
  22. Lots of Skeletons backed up by constructs powered by souls captured in shadeglass (think eldar Wraith constructs who are powered by the souls of powerful eldar soldiers). Basically an old 40k trope, but reimagined in AoS, like the soul-raids of the deepkin are heavily inspired by the dark eldar.
  23. Not sure if it's mentioned anywhere, but what is the size of the carboard terrein in the warcry box? Asking because our LFGS has gaming tables that are only 75cm (30") wide and it would be a godsend if those future battleboards are that size (also for those interested in running AoS meeting engagements, as it would be great if it corresponded with the minimum 30"x40" battlefield.
