With that being said, I don‘t think it‘ll take a lot to make the KO a much better army. A unit of reasonable objective holders, maybe another battleline etc. and I think we‘ll do very well - without going from meh to omg, they‘re so good.

This would go a long, LONG way to helping KO.

Current meta favours horde units, resilient characters, and summoning - in this respect KO are majorly behind  the times.

The traditional Clown Car does not cut it anymore sadly, mainly because even if you kill off a decent portion of  your opponents unit in early game - it's irrelevant if they have the bodies left to hold objectives. Or, produce new bodies to do the same. KO (as well as quite a few Destruction factions) are just going to struggle now, because their ability to hold objectives is as a huge disadvantage compared  to other factions that can either summon (Seraphon, Chaos, Death etc), are hyper mobile (SCE, Idoneth, Sylvaneth), or are hyper resilient (Nurgle, Fyreslayers etc).

    Cheers man,

Yeh they were definitely good in this game, but overall success has been mixed thus far. Well done on your wins, what did you play against and what was your list?

Seem to be back into the swing of playing and updating at the moment which is nice tbh. I have From Ember to Inferno campaign games this Thursday, so will be playing with Phoenix Temple and not Ironjawz.

Ahh sounds good. I know it's not the place for it - *whispers* your Phoenix Temple look ace.  Will be interesting to see how they perform, have a lot of decent warscrolls, just seem to lack the army synergy (that you obviously get from a book these days)?

I played: KO (clown car), SCE (warrior brotherhood), Tzeentch (Tzaangor bomb, skyfire, LoC).

Felt incredibly lucky to survive all 3 to be honest. The first game the Lobbers abandoned me a bit, despite both being sat on Damned. They did some work against the SCE though, pinging off some vital wounds, freeing up some units for optimal combat conditions. They were invaluable against Tzeentch however. Knocking off a Tzaangor Shaman in a swift clunk. Then T4, killed off a herald-on-disc that was holding an objective, letting my Warchanter run straight on for double points.

They're definitely dicey, at 1 shot a piece, but I'm happy with how they worked!

Ok so here are some photos, if people like this I'll try to do it more often.

As mentioned above, the Brayherd spread out across the table looks pretty scary!

    This is ace mate!

I saw your pre-game shot on Twitter so good to see some follow-ups, and that your Lobbers are working out for you!

I managed 3 major vics the other day, Lobbers did a lot better than I anticipated (not great, but good enough). Might update my thread somewhere if I can dig the thing out!

Also great to see you're still updating this bad boy xD

The other option is to drop one unit of piggies and put in a Megaboss on foot !

Try to abuse that reroll 1s

    :D

This is a huge dilemma now - 140 pts either gets you a hero for Duality with a nice save and is great in combat, or, a shed-load of wounds that move quick and are good for early objective grabbing and are *probably* more applicable for the rest of the scenarios. Definitely no easy answer..

    List 2

Maw-krusha - General, Ironclad, Dabbing (or something - maybe Boss Skewer with so many Brutes)
    Weirdnob Shaman
    Warchanter
    Warchanter

    10 Brutes
    5 Brutes
    5 Brutes
    3 Gore-gruntas
    3 Gore-gruntas

    Gitmob Spear Chukka
    Gitmob Spear Chukka

    List 3

Maw-krusha - General, Ironclad, Dabbing (or something - maybe Boss Skewer with so many Brutes)
    Weirdnob Shaman
    Warchanter
    Warchanter

    5 Brutes
    5 Brutes
    5 Brutes
    3 Gore-gruntas
    3 Gore-gruntas

    Gitmob Spear Chukka
    Gitmob Spear Chukka

FYI these lists are identical bar the latter one being -1 unit of Brutes? Did you leave off Ironfist by accident or something?

    Regardless, my penny....

I played 2 games at the weekend with no Warchanters whatsoever and the performance of the Brutes was noticeably lacking. I missed that +1 to hit in situations where I was fighting lesser infantry (and not getting any re-rolls). I know you've mentioned it a few times, as much as I love Megaboss on foot, (he's choppy and has that lovely 3+ save), but he can go entire games without doing much, especially as 140pts gets you Gruntas now. I'm currently writing lists with 2 chanters instead of a MB on foot, not only re-inserting that +1 to hit, but also making my hero-options more flexible.

That said! Megaboss on foot, does provide that re-rolling 1s, to multiple units (in distance), and it works in every combat phase (rather than the chanter's single combat phase buff) - so, there is scope for saying a single Megaboss on foot (positioned correctly) can have a wider benefit than a Warchanter (or 2).

I'm still debating this, and it all comes down to what you can fit in the list I guess.

I'm also now using 4x5 Brutes, and I didn't miss the 10-strong unit to be honest... it gave me more flexibility and split my opponent's targeting up.

If you took 4x5, freeing up 180 in List2 for some Ardboys? Gives you a lot of bodies and still enough heroes. You've got 2 Warchanters in there so 2 sets of Brutes or your Krusha are getting the +1 each per turn?

the Venator did 9 wounds with his Star-fated Arrow!! When does that happen?! Never! Was pretty awesome tbh.

In this vein, I feel compelled to report my cabbage did 7 mortal wounds with its bulk the other day...! Sadly it was against some Bloodreavers, and he  was subsequently counter-charged by a horde of bloodletters who killed him in one turn...... but hey!

Great to see the reports back on this thread mate, keep them coming. All the best with Blackout! Had hoped to come, but the travel/accom ended up being a bit too pricey, especially with Finals round the corner. Hope all goes well!

  7. I may have missed you doing this previously, but would be great if you could ever do tutorials/vids/photos etc on how you did these?

The line-work, muscles, metals, everything, really quite amazing. The weathering as well - I've not even begun trying to weather any of my Ironjawz yet, but would really like to. I've watched various Duncan vids and stuff on YouTube, but seeing how you did it to yours, and your aesthetic, would be ace.

Even a podcast or 2 on it maybe? I know you've done a few hobby ones in the past (remember a very good one with Matt). Anything though really. I for one, envy the skills of our Ironjawz overlord!

(Also, congrats on your time at EGGs, won't spoil this thread, but from the looks of Twitter you didn't fair badly at all!)

That's FFXV, which is also great. Completed the main story on that, but want to go back and do some additional hunts, dungeons etc.

Final Fantasy games are pretty much the only ones I play haha! I do have The Last Guardian to play at some point as well though.

I have to admit all of my FF knowledge is from the films.... (awful I know). Tempted to try and pick up a PS4 during the Christmas sales, really intrigued by the universe. My FLG has the card game in too now so I've been eyeing up that.

ANYWAY - apologies for derailing your thread with computer games...

Just started listening to the RAW17 episode of TBS this morning, looking forward to updates of your Ironjawz heading into it!

I'd be ok with that.  They pretty much already are just a type of beastman, and my Skirmish warband uses them as the fodder troops to support my blight kings and drones.

Blasphemy really, they should be Destruction. Not hugely fond of their move over to Chaos

  10. 3 more weeks of July left. Few more Primaris and general 40k releases.

See no reason why GH2 can't be end of this month/start of August?

It's been touted all year as a July release, not sure why everyone's in a tizz about exactly when it'll be?

    They started printing it now

Is this a thing? Did they do a print announcement? (genuine Q...)

  11. @Chris Tomlin Look forward to the return of TBS! 3-hour special yeah? :D

Summer is a bad time for me re. tournaments (lots of weekend work cropping up). Got the GT Finals and Blood & Glory locked in though - will be taking Ironjawz to both those I think, as you say, hopefully new GH will throw some new options out there for us.

Re. the heat - managed to basecoat my Ironblaster and get some washes on my Ardboyz yesterday, it was the only thing distracting me from the heat - plus the shortened drying time was actually very useful... absolutely ecstatic it's raining right now though!

What do people think about me posting photos of my 40K Orks here as I when I finish something? They are painted and based the same as my Ironjawz and indeed there will be some crossover models - ie Krunk will lead both armies of course. Unsure whether to magnetise his new power klaw arm or just glue it on? It fits well enough for AoS I reckon and furthers the eventual dieselpunk theme I want for the Ironjawz. Kinda talked myself into it I reckon haha!

I'll defo post photos of nu-Krunk once he's finished his trip to the Doks.

I think that'd be ace mate, Orcs are Orks are Orruks are Orcs, y'know?! More green the better. And I can't imagine anyone would really mind an AoS/40k content crossover on here, especially as many of us are straddling both worlds now.

Also, 'trip to the Doks' xD

I also finally got hold of the parts I needed to finish my Idol of Gork conversion. This is based on a 40K Gorkanaut and I'll be doing this for Realms at War later this year, so that's pretty exciting. Does mean I'll only be taking 9-12 Gore-gruntas, not 18, in my mounted hunting party, but will still be super cool (and will stop me going mental considering how long this second unit has been on my desk!). One day I'll paint all 18...one day!! @Mitzy@Thornshield@Devilreefman@Jimbo

Really looking forward to this - ironically all the excitement for 40k has got me even more excited for AoS again. Are you taking your 'jawz to any more tournaments this year? Or are you still on the Sylvaneth? (it feels like ages since the last TBS and Sigbrah episodes!)

Cheers man. Yeh the Ironjawz did seem strong in certain Skirmish battleplans, but tbh in others the Kharadron shooting @Paul Buckler had was just too much. Love the idea of a Gaunt Summoner led Warband. Skirmish is so cool. Need to play through another campaign. Quite fancy using my Venetian Court actually.

Venetian Court in a sigmarite mausoleum setting would be wonderful to be fair. I'll post a pic of my warband in my thread so as not to clog yours up (as I say, it's Chaos though so hope no Destruction folk get offended..........)
