  1. Oh definitely not trying to single lumineth out that was just the experience I had. I'm sure Lumineth has its own struggles against certain armies or the hero sniping isn't as effective which is probably why its not at the top of the meta. I get the idea of talking to him about not using those units, but that feels ******, poor dude loves lumineth and Teclis, and now hes stomped a few of our little gaming group with the list he doesn't get to play the models anymore. I play OBR and often get the same thing with people saying they don't want to play them, and it is a real ****** feeling after the money and time spent on the models. They basically come out for competitive stuff and stay tucked on the shelf for anything else @whispersofblood thanks for the advice I will look into it. It just seems unfortunate that the best way to play khorne is... to not play khorne and use S2D models instead. I'm sure its not just khorne that struggles with this. I suspect any army that has a reliance on small 5-6 wound heroes or is weak to bravery shenanigans would be in the same situation. Anyways, I didn't want to turn this into a lumineth bashing thread, just wanted to share my experience of balance. Back to your regularly scheduled programming people.
  2. I understand what you are saying. But I didn't even have a turn. I could have had the best list possible and my secrator and priests, arguably the best units we have, included in alot of competitive lists, particularly the priests, are dead before I get to do a single thing with them, with no way to protect them. So you are saying the only option I have is to build a list that is specifically tailored to fighting lumineth? Doesn't that seem to suggest that the game is not balanced?
  3. Recently took part in a 5 week league of 20 players and ended up 4th. thought I'd do a quick write up for you ladies and gents. My list was all about catapult buffing. Katakros, Zandtos and soul mason. 2x 20 Mortek, 5 Deathriders, 2 catapults. Game 1 - This game was against 5 bloodthirsters. Real good dude to play against. Unfortunately for him the catapults murdered both skarbrand and an insensate rage thirster in my first turn. The mortek cleaned up another one and it was all over from there... This was a great win, but would prove to be my downfall as I scored max VP and max Auxillery points and rocketed me to the top of the table and make all my next match ups insanely tough. Game 2 - Against more OBR! Nagash, boneshaper, harvester and 3x20 mortek. Unfortunately I couldnt get any buffs onto the catapults and they were essentially 400 wasted points and Nagash was just too much of a machine gun for me to deal with. Lost in a nail biter Game 3 - Against FEC. Poor guy couldnt roll dice that night. The amount of 1s and 2s coming out from him was outrageous. His gheist attacking a unit of mortek with six attacks rolled 5 1's and a 2 for his first gaping maw attack, then feeding frenzied and rolled 6 2's. The rerolls were just as bad. If I didn't know any better I'd say his dice were loaded the wrong way round. Max VP and Aux again shot me to the top of the ladder and put me up against 2 of the toughest players, Game 4 - Changehost tzeentch in knife to the heart. YUK. Before I even had a turn I'd lost a unit and a half of Mortek. The changeling had deployed on my catapults and I almost could have conceded before having a turn. But the dice are fickle, and the soul mason managed to pile in and kill the changeling freeing up one of the catapults. Katakros wiped the unit of Pinks that had teleported and charged the catapult behind him, so I struggled through. My deathriders and Zandtos were the absolute MVP's this game. charged around the board murdering everything they touched. Special shoutout to the catapults who did their full 40 wounds to the final unit of pinks sitting on the objective which wiped the unit after battleshock, allowing zandtos and his deathriders to catch the objective. Again max Aux on this putting me up against the undefeated cities list. Game 5 - Tempest eye Gunline. Absolutely disgusting list and it had tabled everyone he had played by turn 3... I found out why during the game... He had his ranges wrong and was treating the crossbowman as if they had a 30inch range and the handgunners as if they had an 18 inch range. He was also rolling for an extra CP despite not having a hero who was under the amount of wounds needed. Lucky I knew cities and corrected him as the game went on. Unfortunate for his previous opponents. These mistakes were a pretty big deal because his CP abilities were insanely strong and he got bonuses for not moving, which he didnt have to because of the longer ranges. Benefit of the doubt whether he knew or not. He was up a significant amount going into turn 3. but OBR did as OBR does and stayed in it and ultimately got me the draw, he was fairly shocked that I managed to claw it back to a draw... and it meant he came second instead of first. Finished with a 3-1-1 and overall 4th. Not bad for my first proper competitive list with OBR. especially as my only loss was to OBR haha. With the way the points were worked out, I had one of the toughest draws, which I didn't mind it was a good learning experience. To give a bit of perspective, the dude who came first was playing big WAAAAGH and he lost his first game to Lumineth, the loss helped alot and his draw was - Lumineth - Stormcast -Grand allicane Chaos - Trolls - Gargants. Great fun but the competitive OBR list is shelved for a while I think. The catapults were awesome, but didn't make for the best play experience for opponents. Keen to try an all pony list but!!
  4. Yeah mate. you described it really well here. Getting stomped by an army that is strong against your armies particular skill set is fine. But the opportunity to at least play the game would be nice. to have half your army literally dead or flee to battleshock before you even have a turn is a horrible feeling and just makes the game no fun from the get go.
  5. Thanks man. I really like the models haha.. I get what your saying with there being a disparity in the power of the lists. And I don't expect to win against the top tier armies with this list. But... In terms of balance. Is the list that bad that I lose before I even have a turn?? Looking at the options in khorne, outside of potentially one specific build that I need amazing luck to pull off ( reapers of vengeance artefact on a wrath of khorne thirster).. I can't even see a list where I get to use my models. All the heroes my army relies on are dead turn 1 before I go if the lumineth player so wishes and I lose a significant amount to bravery. All from spells that can't fail and I can't unbind, then anything that survives is murdered by bows I don't even get to roll a save for or am able to hide from. From a balance point of view. That seems outrageous. I surprised myself by winning against a fairly competitive shooty DoK snake list and that was a fun game for both of us. Lots of dice roll fun. I won cause of good dice rolls. I'm sure if we rolled the same he would have beaten me, but at least I would have been able to play the game
  6. ahh i dont recall his list exaclty but it was Teclis, cathalar, and then archers and spears in the first game. He swapped out a unit of archers for horses in the second. I ran - Chaos lord on Karkadrak Bloodsecrator Priest Priest Blood warriors x5 Blood warriors x5 Reavers x 10 5x chaos knights 6x skullcrushers 5x skullreapers 5x skullreapers 5x wrathmongers gore pilgims Skulls
  7. Khorne friends. Can confirm, Lumineth are real strong - versed lumineth and got absolutely creamed. Was a fairly ****** game play experience wise. Teclis had the portals and between him and searing white light and the archers I lost my secrator, both slaughterpriests and my general before I had a turn. Was also -2 to bravery and had to use 2CP to save units so nearly every unit lost models. Having 1 exalted deathbringer and the remnants of my other units left before I had a turn, I suggested we re-rack and try again. He gave me first turn to try make it a bit more competitive, but it didn't matter. I just lost in turn 2 instead because I was able to spread out and avoid some searing white light damage. Highlight of this game was him auto teleporting his cathalr chick to 9 away from my unit of six skullcrushers. doubling the horses speed, charging them, they killed 1 skull crusher. I killed 8 dawnriders, then all 5 of my skullcrushers ran away cause of her ability. Now I consider myself a fairly decent player and a few days prior I managed to beat a competitive shooting DoK list, but what is the answer here? I have been tabled quickly before, but usually because of dice or my own dumb mistakes. These games i was powerless to do anything about it. I couldn't even hope for the spells to fail because they just dont. I couldnt hide my heroes cause the archers don't need line of sight. It was brutal. Any ideas?
  8. Was looking for a Balance thread and found one! I played a game against LRL with my mortal Khorne list. And I fully understand that some armies counter other armies. That's fine. But LRL didn't just counter me. There was literally nothing I could have done to make the game any more competitive, except not run Khorne. Teclis had the portals and Searing white light + archers kill my secrator, both slaughterpriests and my general before I had a turn. Lost models from nearly every unit due to bravery, not being able to use CP and being -2 bravery board wide. Thought thats fine Ill play the objective game knowing lumineth need to stay somewhat castled and his whole front ranks are -1 to hit and I cant afford to be losing any more models in combat cause they will just run in bravery. Didnt matter, essentially lost by turn 2. Reracked. Tried again, my opponent gave me first turn to try see if there was anything else to do. Same result, just took an extra turn because I was able to spread out slightly and not cop the full searing white light. The archers still killed the secrator and a slaughterpriest turn 1 (couldnt hide them) Highlight of this game was bravery chick making 5 of my skullcrushers run away after they managed to kill 8 dawn riders who had charged them, by teleporting the cathalar to where the dawnriders were gonna be in the hero phase. Im just happy rolling dice and drinking beers and stuff and dont mind a good flogging if its dice or something I did wrong, but this was neither of those. Even my opponent agreed that there wasnt anything significant that I could have done different. Im fairly new to the game, but consider myself a pretty good player. I managed a win against a shooty competitive DoK list a few days prior with the same list. Any thoughts?
  9. God I love Khorne. I would give my worldly possessions for them to be at the standard their lore implies they should be. We have all these 80pt heroes who, in the lore should be absolute animals on the table. Most of them don't even have rend. Perhaps the most disappointing is the mighty lord of khorne though. This is how the battletome describes him; Clad in iron and brass, and commanding countless savage warriors, the Lords of Khorne are the Blood God’s greatest mortal champions. The deep scars that criss-cross their bulging muscles tell of lifetimes spent waging wars and committing atrocities. When a Lord of Khorne espies a worthy enemy, he falls upon them like the blade of a guillotine, bringing swift and inescapable death. He wades through ranks of soldiers with the full fury of his god, severing heads with every swing of his axe and roaring challenges for any brave or foolish enough to answer. Under showers of arterial blood he butchers champions and monsters, kings and beasts. All are but skulls to be piled high in honour of Khorne. How is this represented on the table? 3 attacks, 3s and 3s, -1, d3 damage. This dude should be an expensive eltharion level foot hero. make me sad
  10. Anyone able to PM me these "theories" Can't find any on reddit
  11. Just picked up a massive khorne daemon army lot for 40k. including skarbrand! anyone have any fun daemon lists for AOS or skarbrand focussed murder lists?

Moved all his fleshhounds onto the objectives and moved all 5 blood thirsters up. I deployed in such a way that he had to roll 10's ( he had a reroll and +1 so needed 9's) to get his charges off. Luckily he failed all of them. I took my turn.. buffed the ****** out of my catapults.. and the poor ****** didnt roll a single save. Shot off both Skarbrand and a Rage thirster in my first turn. Charged the left objective with 20 mortek and the right objective with 5 horses. My centre unit of mortek charged into the blood thirsters sitting on the middle objective and took the other rage thirster down to 2 wounrs and the fury thirster to 4 wounds. I took all the objectives and in this turn had killed Skarbrand, rage thirster, 2x units of fleshhounds. TURN 1 SCORES - OBR 7 - KHORNE 7 Turn 2 Rolled priority and he won. he had 4 blood tithes and decided to try get the unit of mortek in the middle by fighting in the hero phase with blood tithe. He whiffed and killed none of them. He attempted to finish them off in the combat phase but whiffed again with both the fury thirster and the rage thirster. His wrath thirster had charged Zandtos, but only took him down to 3 wounds. The flesh hounds also charged him but did no damage. My centre mortek killed the rage and fury thirster, and zandtos killed the unit of flesh hounds. At this point my opponent had a single wrath of khorne blood thirster left. On my turncatapult shot him off and he was tabled. OBR VICTORY - Final score OBR 35 - Khorne - 7 Full credit to my opponent. His dice rolling was absolute garbage when it came to the catapults. He had every reason to be salty. I don't think he rolled a single save. but he just took it on the chin like a champ and was just happy to roll some dice. we talked about the game afterwards and had he made a single charge with a rage thirster in the begining of the game it would have been completely different. We rolled damage for a "what if" and he would have done 8 mortals to every one of my units and wiped the centre unit of Mortek.
  13. Okay I asked previously about some lists for a potential league and I've narrowed it down to 2 lists. Essentially this. Mortis Praetorions Katakros Zandtos Soul Mason 20 mortek 20mortek 5 death riders mortek crawler mortek crawler nightmare predator OR Same list but swap zandtos and the soulmason for Arkhan. Thoughts? A photo of the boys included minus one of the catapults.
  14. This is why I ask in here. I hadn't even considered that. Thanks man. Another unit any of those three would really beef up the effectiveness. Skullcrushers for more of an anvil and the delicious charge or knights / reapers for the extra oomph. Thanks mate! Photo of some of the boys attached
  15. Been having a bunch of success with the below lately, managing wins over squigz, goblins, lumineth lately. Ran something like this.. please excuse me not knowing the names lol. Unnamed Cow monster Eltharion The bravery tranferral chick Dude floating on rock 20 Pikes 20 Pikes 10 archers 10 archers 10 Horsies We rolled better part of Valour up (the one where battleline needs to babysit the objective to score). He had his archers as battleline sitting on the objectives so I thought I was in for a tough game. Turn1 I went first and moved everything up the board leaving the blood warriors and a unit of bloodreavers to babysit my objectives. He did something totally unexpected that I should have expected.... and charged his pikes into my skullcrushers on his turn.. as soon I saw what he set up I knew I fecked up. I killed 12ish of them and the bravery chick transferred the bravery and made all my pigs run away. god dammit. Turn2 I rolled priority and charged my knights and reavers into his left flank where he had a unit of 20 pikes and eltharion. The knights whiffed somewhat, only killing 12 of the pikes, eltharion and the pikes managed to chop down the knights leaving 1. The reavers managed to kill noone. good job guys. The middle of the board saw my reavers charge into the archers holding his centre objective managing to kill 1 of them (thanks to shining company and he cow I was hitting on 6's) and he killed 5 in reply. I did manage to get the skulls off so on his turn he failed every single spell he tried to cast. His archers left 2 reavers alive from shooting, and 1 ran from battle shock leaving me with 1 Reaver left. The cow charged direction to come back and deal with the reaver left on his objective, but failed his charge (unlucky). The archers failed to finish of the last reaver in melee. On the right flank he moved down the board to my unit of 10 blood warriors but didnt make a charge. Turn 3 - this turn earned the solo blood reaver a name. I won priority again and got the axe off finally which chopped down the rest of the archers that my reaver was in combat with. He moved and took the objective. .. with a giant cow staring him down... and the floating rock dude. The skulls were set up again, few blood boils, the karkadrak on the left flank finished off the pikemen on his objective and had a stare down with Eltharion. (bit of history between these 2 from previous games). On his turn he set the skulls off by rolling and 8. 5 units of wizards in range... I rolled 4 1's. Ouch. Rolled a 4 against dude on rock. The Cow charge my last solo Reaver and the wrathmongers who were exaclty his base size away from the reaver, god dammit. He charge rock dude to try finish off the reaver. and he charged all his horses and pikes into my blood warriors on my right flank. He had faith in his rock dude to kill the reaver and put all his attacks with the cow into the wrath monger finishing them off, then decided to attack with the horses (he can pick twice) thinking that the mathematical chance of my reaver killing his rock dude is slim (hitting on 5's wounding on 4's, 1 attack against his 4+ save)... He killed all the Blood warriors with his bravery shenanigans. Eltharion and Chaos lord had their showdown leaving each other on 1 wound. And to win the game ... The Reaver killed his dude on the rock. ... we were both laughing when this happened and immediately called the game because that meant I was gonna score that objective again in my turn if I won priority (which we checked and I won) making me way ahead on objectives. This was one of the most fun games I've played in a while. Just throwing hordes of my things at his pikemen while he shoots from behind with his archers, crazy rolls. Was good fun. That lone blood reaver has earnt himself a name. And my mate is gonna give me an elf head to stick on his base so we can always remember what he did. Titarion, Elfbane
  19. I really hope that blood warriors come down, and skullteapers come down. Although I also have a feeling nothing will change at all lol.
  20. Hey lads. Just painted up the ultraforge War Daemon as a Insensate rage bloodthirster. I dont actually have a real one... anyone have a pic with size difference?
  21. Hey guys. We all know the tried and true thirsty bois lists. What off meta mortal lists are people doing well with??
  22. Hey guys, Looking to start s Khorne army for a year long slow grow / Narrative campaign. Looking for some advice on how to build a list. (Brand new, own no models yet. but keen for some blood for the blood god.) Keen to do a mortal List. Maybe have some Daemons set aside for summoning. The list will be built around my general who will likely be a; Chaos Lord on Karkadrak Command trait - HEW THE FOE - +1 Damage to melee weapons Artefact - GORE CLEAVER - +1 Rend., sixes double the damage My understanding of this combo is, if I make his Axe the Gorecleaver, he will do 3 damage on a hit... 6 on a 6 to wound... plus his other attacks Is this a suitable General? Or should I be looking at something else? The idea is the General has to remain constant throughout the year and this dude seems like a good choice. I plan on buying the heads of heroes he kills through the campaign and make a little shrine dedicated to his murder. How many of the other heroes should I be looking at? 2 slaughter priests? a secrater? a stoker? And what battleline and other units should I be looking at for Gotetide / gore pilgrims... I forget which is the alleigance and which is the battalion... Like I said... I own nothing... so please make some suggestions on what you would do!
  23. Had my Very first game last night with the nighthaunt with a variation on EnixLHQ's list all takers list. was versing an Ogors list consisting of 3 wizards, Gluttons, ironguts, leadbelchers... all the foot dudes. Lady Olynder - Soul Cage GENERAL - Spirit Torment - Ruler Of the Spirit Hosts - Pendent of the fel wind Guardian of Souls - Beacon of Nagashazzir - Shademist Reikenor the Grim Hailer 30x Chainrasps 10x Chainrasps 5x Hexwraiths 5x Hexwraiths 9x Spirit Hosts 20x Grimghast reapers The Dolourus Guard SETUP We were playing force the hand? the L shaped deployment. Basically set up in 2 lines across from each other. I had my basic formations set out. The spirit hosts and the torment. The rasps and the guardian of souls, and the reapers operated as a sweeping independent force. The hexwraiths, reikenor, LADY O and her screen of 10 rasps were in the under world. TURN 1 - 3-3 He gave me first turn and I pushed everything up the board and captured my 3 objectives. He essentially did the same, except he got a huge 12 inch charge off on my Spirit hosts with his 12? gluttons. He managed to take down 4 of them... and then they hit back real hard and did like 11 mortals and 2 damage? It was alot of sixes. rolled for the torment in battleshock... back came a torment. TURN 2 - 7-6 I won priority and he nearly threw up when I rolled 3 hosts to come back to the board making the unit full strength again. I pushed the reapers up behind the spirit hosts expecting a retread from the gluttons on his turn. Reikenor and his Hexwraiths appeared on the right flank 9 inches away from a unit of 4 leadbelchers who had a unit of 8 iron guts about 7 inches behind them. Managed to get a charge of on both hexwraiths and reikenor even rolled wave of terror (he whiffed and did 0 damage but haha). The hexwraiths murdered the leadbelchers with the extra attack from dolorus guard and the spirit hosts lost 2 models and took down 3 more gluttons. On his turn, he charged in his irongutz and absolutely destroyed the hexwraiths and Reikenor, but I'd planned for that, and still had my 30 chainrasps and the GOS on that flank as a screen in case I got doubled. He retreated the gluttons as expected. TURN 3 - 12 - 7 I won priority again, but honestly think I would have been fine if I got double turned. My Rasps got shademisted by the GoS and my Spirit hosts brought back 1 model. This round was all objective grabbing for me. I moved my Spirit hosts up with the spirit torment. They had now gone the entire distance of the board all the way to his read objective being baby sat by 4 leadbelchers. My Reapers flew over the top of a building in the middle of the map and landed 3 away from his retreating gluttons. Chainrasps just moved up and spread out keeping the Ironguts where they were. LADY O and the Rasps dropped straight into the middle of about 3 of his units and she pumped out some mortals. Spirit hosts left 1 Leadbealcher alive. The Reapers destroyed the rest of the gluttons and My unit of 10 rasps made a charge into his butcher and managed to kill him thanks to the mortals from LADY O earlier. His turn he charged his irongutz into the unit of 30 rasps and killed 17. At this point in the game he was stuck in a small triangle in his deployment zone. Basically it was a line from halfway down the long edge, to the middle of the short edge and his whole army was in that small triangle and mine was all in front of that in a line. TURN 4 - 17 - 8 At this point He conceded we mathed it out and his Irongutz were the only thing he had that was going to be able to take any objectives, and I still had a full squads all over the board to potentially take them out anyway. THOUGHTS ON NIGHTHAUNT (FIRST GAME) This Army was an absolute ball to play. I usually play FEC and OBR. and this army was so much fun as it was a nice change from just one big scary monster or unkillable Mortek haha. The Underworlds was HUGE. My opponent was so worried about my units appearing in his backfield that he played way to conservatively essentially just shuffling around allowing me to move my entire army up the board and trap him in his deployment zone and then steal all his objectives with my unrendable ghosty bois. I think I might have a new favourite army!!!
  24. Lads, Managed to get a win against Bone Splittaz and KO in my slow grow (1500Ppts) league. I didn't get to run the list I wanted to. (because my ****** didnt arrive in time - 1 Crawler and 10 Mortek) I ran the following. Katakros Arkhan 10x Mortek (blades) 10x Mortek (blades) 5x Deathriders (blades) 3x Stalkers Soul Stealer Carrion 1500 / 1500 The bone Splittaz game ended top of turn 3 when I rolled priority. He'd never played OBR before, and I warned him prior how tough the mortek are to shift but he backed his boarboyz and charged both fronts with his ten man units. Luckily my mate has been talking non stop about bone splittaz because he wants to get into them so I knew exactly what he was going to do turn 1, and set up for it putting the riders and stalkers in a position to pile in after he attacked the mortek. Needless to say the rest of the game was me just eating through his block of boyz. End of the game I'd lost 0 models and he was tabled except for his heroes. Im particularly happy with how the KO game went. Usually this dude just shoots me off the table and to make things worse, the battleplan we rolled was knife to the heart. I know this dude is a big fan of spell in a bottle (Warp lightning vortex), so I knew he was going to give me first turn and go for the double. He gave me first turn and I managaed to shuffle around in such a way that he could only fly high into one spot on the edge of the board in my territory. Id run my deathriders up the flank making him think I'd left my army exposed. He fell for it and flew both his gunhauler and Ironclad high, dropped the WLV and got one of my mortek units down to 4 models. We rolled for priority and I won it... thank f*uck. In saying that, I think I would have been okay, even if he got the double. Arkhan dispelled the WLV and cast some buffs and moved up the board and charged the battleline hed left on the objective.Charged in a unit of ten mortek, Katakros and the deathriders came back down the flank. Tried for the stalkers but couldnt get them in. The mortek spiked big and managed to get rid of the gunhauler which allowed katakros to pile into the ironclad. The deathriders and katakros brought the ironclad down to 4 wounds. Arkhan cleared 9/10 battleline and copped a gunbutt to the head, which let him teleport back into my territory with protection of nagash. My opponent started his turn... had a think for a few minutes and conceded. The ironclad was stuck. and He wasn't going to be able to clear me off the objective with the units he had left (2 heroes, 10 thunderers and 3 balloon boys.) MVP's were the Kata and Arkhan combo bringing back 6 wounds a turn. The stalkers were just an absolute blender against the Bonesplittaz. Good fun, I was the first person in our league to actually beat the KO haha, so that was fun!
