  1. We probably won't see it until january, because there are probably no more releases until january. They normally take a week or two off, and if something were to be announced for preorder this sunday, it would release on the 24th. If they announce something next sunday it would release on the 31st. We might see preorder announcements on christmas and new years, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
  2. Are they even good in bonegrinz? IIRC they had 3 attacks base last edition (or access to it) on the same profile with rend against monsters, access to exploding 6s, and a double shooting ability and they weren't destroying the meta back then. They were certainly a solid option if you built into it though. I think they cost more than the used to now too.
  3. Seeing all the model releases in a list reminds me of how little aos got this year. We got crossboos, a couple sylvaneth kits, a mega gargant upgrade sprue and the STD box set. Thats like 6 kits outside of the heroes. They were confirmed for december with the roadmap we got a while back.
  4. This rumor stinks. 1. Has been a rumor around for a while 2. We normally get a spring model release, but this one is the first in spring, probably march, but don't we usually get the spring release later than that? Especially since they need to squeeze 4 other books into spring. 3. guess. 4. Wanderers leaving is wierd, they're some of the better looking models in the range. 5. Khorne book is already finalized by now, probably printed as well. There's at least a 6 month leadup between finalizing & getting the physical books into stores, so khorne should've been being playtested around july-september, october at the latest.
  5. The biggest issue with throwing all the rules into one (or a couple) books is that the development time goes way up for those books, which probably makes that system less profitable/sustainable. Plus it would definitely hurt player engagement. Sure it sucks waiting for a rules update, but throwing all the rules out on day 1 of the edition (as the extreme example) doesn't leave much to be released over the course of the edition. The answer is probably digital rules, but they'd need to be monetized, and plenty of players like playing with physical books instead of phones, although maybe white dwarf could be flexed to address the latter part a bit. Honestly I wouldn't hate a subscription based service for access to the rules if it led to a more involved release and balancing strategy.
  6. "Soup" is fine. They still release rules in physical books, at a relatively steady cadence, which kind of puts a soft cap on the number of armies we can have in the game. Souping is a way around this. Just because a book gets souped doesn't mean the individual pieces lose their identity or playstyle either, both warclans and gitz are examples of this. I just want good rules, as bad rules are what plagued the warclans book, specifically kruleboyz.
  7. I just said you could do it, not that it was easy or good. I think Lauchon might have some play though. Its just a useful movement piece. Our foot heroes probably appreciate it, and some of them are pretty good. Plus I think there is some play in moving kairics around with it. IIRC a list did well recently with a block of 30 kairics, where they stacked the extra rend on the 30 unit, and I think you can fit 30 around lauchon within 3", so you increase the threat range by a ton. Plus throwing small expendable units forwards onto objectives and stuff might score you some points, especially since they fit into expert conquerors (but screamers kind of do that already). The biggest problem with it is how contested our endless spells are I think. Sigil and Spellportal are basically auto include, and that only leaves space for 1, which is hotly contested between cogs and purple sun. If the new season is indeed small hero focused maybe it might become more interesting depending on how the battle tactics shape up.
  8. You can do it with a unit that has 6" move, but just barely and the distance has to be exactly 18.01-18.25, but fatemaster and magister on disk are your best bets. Another way to do it would be to bring Lauchon the Soulseeker, since he can move a wizard up to 18" and then it can still move in the movement phase. you can actually move kairics with it if the whole unit is within 3", and moving around expert conqueror kairics is a neat trick.
  9. Magma Tortoises would be sick for fyreslayers as a very small monster. Give it a little howdah with like 2 dwarves on top. You could make some really cool narrative rules for it too. It starts off fast and hard hitting, with an average save, but as it brackets the save actually gets better, down to a 1+ at the bottom bracket and its speed drops to abysmal levels, as the tortoise cools off and hardens when bracketed. Maybe it has a built in heal of some sort too, as it warms up, and when it dies it just stays on the board as impassable terrain, since its just a rock at that point. A unit of priests that "surf" around the earth earthbender style could be cool too, melting the earth around them and riding on stone slabs
  10. A lot of what drives their decision is sales. Armies that are popular and sell well get more frequent updates. Its probably why Gitz got a second wave fast tracked, as they managed to stay incredibly popular despite the abysmal rules. Fyreslayers (as an example) are probably going to be left high and dry for quite a while. Sure you could maybe breathe new life and popularity into them with a new wave, but its probably safer to spend that effort on another popular range.
  11. Its tough to do multiple goblin books because of the factions stuck in the middle. You could have moonclan in one book, and gitmob in another (possibly with some grotbag friends), but things like troggoths and spiderfang will still be stuck somewhere in the middle. It might happen in the future too, but I suspect there isn't enough stuff coming to fill a second book properly. I don't think they were retired were they? Just put on range rotation.
  12. Yeah spider riders make great screens. Fast and cheap, and since they're 5 guys on oval bases they can take up a lot of space if you put them sideways in a line with just under 1" between them. Rippa's Snarlfangs are also good at it, and they're 70 points. Grots would work fine, but they're a bit slow and you're probably overpaying for a unit that you're bringing just to get killed.
  13. Gitz already has a bunch of pretty big monsters, It would be cool in another direction and got a centerpiece chariot thing, like glutos, katakros or the triumph of St Catharine.
  14. True, I ran into a lot of Ironjawz and nighthaunt at the events I went to, and there screens were super important.
  15. If you're not using screens you just get blown up because we're so slow. Finesse armies are usually very mobile, because without mobility you can't pick your engagements. The vulture is fast, and I love it as a piece, but it generally fails as a damage piece because the damage is way too swingy.
  16. I'm not at all shocked kruleboyz haven't moved. They got to save a bunch of points overall, and got some nice QoL changes, but in lieu of an overhaul the army really needs gutrippaz to be great, not just average or good (from a durability/point per wound standpoint at least). Its a slow army, and wants to castle up, but with gutrippaz as bad as they are they have no tools to push onto or hold objectives at all. The spikey damage hurts them on the secondaries, but Gutrippaz really let them down on primary objectives. Bounty hunters vanishing may help a bit, but I doubt its enough.
  17. I've found myself relying on lots of screens instead of bodies, usually 4-5 of them in some combination of hobgrots, spider riders, and rippa's snarlfangs. Plus the gitz allies actually have decent movement so you can rush up and create some distance, or grab an uncontested objective. It would be really nice if some of our monster had a bit more rend though, they don't throw as many dice around so its far easier for them to whiff.
  18. To excacerbate things for Ogor players ironblaster spam doesn't fit into battle regiment at all, so you can't control the turn order at all. Ogors have other good stuff though, so while Ironblaster spam is the list we're seeing a lot of at the moment, we'll probably see some experimentation as time goes on. The ogor book doesn't really force you into a gunline strat for ironblasters to be useful, so I wouldn't be too surprised if we start seeing lists with only 1-2 ironblasters being pretty popular. Also I find your description of the Ogor gunline list pretty funny, since it describes kruleboyz as well, and is better than kruleboyz at doing it too, despite that being the only playstyle.
  19. The marshcrawla only has goblins on top of it anyways. One of the squig hopper grots would probably look great on the mirebrute too.
  20. Khorne might not see one either. The map seems to be shared for underworlds & warcry doesn't it? And khorne got an underworlds warband.
  21. If you're not planning on using the poison on the boltboyz running them 2x3 might be better. Also you've got a pretty melee heavy list, running a swampcalla general with arcane tome and master of magic wouldn't be a bad option. It would help you get off the warscroll spell for +1 to charge armywide, but you'd need to give up the supa-sneaky redeploy.
  22. Books have been getting more modular in nature IMO, but I think that'll be tough to pull off in gitz. For modular design you flatten out the synergies and make each "piece" (could be a solo unit, or a unit + a hero) operate independently. You run into a few issues with Gitz, grots are supposed to be weak narratively, but they have numbers and fight dirty. It doesn't make sense for 60 grots to be dangerous without a ton of support. spiders, troggs, and squigs can get away with it though. troggs run into the elite issue of modular design, where the package costs too much for the unit + the hero, so either that hero needs an aoe buff to justify their points (which creates a linear incentive) or the units need to all be independent operators, which leaves the troggboss with little to do if he's not directly competing with the other trogg units. Squigs and spiders are probably fine.
  23. I'm calling gitmob. Destruction are the only ones that "loot" stuff quite frequently, and this shield looks pretty battered. The rope at the top makes it look like its tied to something, rather than being held by someone, and gitz are the only destruction army left, and are probably getting a gitmob release. This is probably strapped onto a chariot or pump wagon as an armor plate.
