  1. I dunno man I've played a lot of wargames over the years, most of them just... you know, fix the broken stuff. Crazy, I know. Or they do what GW does, and then die and go out of business because other people simply can't afford to be that inept without it gutting their bottom line. I don't think some ambiguous notion of communal responsibility for GW's failures is much of a salve.
  2. You don't think this is a bit generous? Like generous to a fault? That the bar for lazy is "Literally doing nothing whatsoever"? I know you guys are basically obligated to go to bat for GW but this seems a little silly.
  3. I mean they have to get nerfed again. I'm an SCE player, telling you, they HAVE to get nerfed again.
  4. Oh man I haven't thought about the bridge much since the change, but kraggy... kraggy's an army in a can with a 3d6 charge. That's pretty spicy.
  5. That's exactly right! Since it's modified to a 1, and you save on a 1. And if you roll a 2 and your opponent has a -2 rend, then it's modified to a 0 and goes through. And if you roll that natural 1 you fail, even though it would have passed, because of the extra rule that says natural 1s always fail regardless of all other factors. Edit: didn't see @Beliman post before me oops
  6. That's not true anymore, it was because of that weird core rules clause that said a roll couldn't be modified below a 1. Now it can so you can get a 0 or a -1 on a save roll making it rendable. atm 1+ saves exist, and they are exactly what they claim to be: you save on a (modified) result of 1. If you roll a natural 1 you fail anyways because of another rule but it's still a 1+ save.
  7. It's not the worst balance move they've made but I don't think keeping tabs on yet another vector of ongoing digital pdf releases that adjust units is... ideal. If the units are proving unbalanced maybe you should fix them instead of making the game increasingly patchwork Like if the bastilodon is too good nerf it. No need to reinvent the wheel.
  8. New PDF punishes you for taking the best units lol, you hand out a few free VPs when they get killed by other units. The worst armies get an extra VP thrown on top. It's... a weird new balance lever. Not sure I'm a fan tbh
  9. I haven't played any games yet where this would have changed the outcome. But it'll definitely hurt a very specific kind of seraphon list lol Definitely a big Kraggy buff.
  10. Gordy really needs a ward. Given his status I'd say he deserves it
  11. A natural 1 always fails, but that isn't the same as no 1+ Bastilidons literally have a 1+ save right there on the warscroll
  12. I think the cost is less of an issue for gobby than his sort of unfocused warscroll that doesn't add what you're generally looking for in Warclans/Kruleboyz list. You have a very average double casting wizard with a mix of utility mechanics and adequate if unremarkable combat ability. He may not be bad but he doesn't enjoy a warscroll that really drives you to want him in a list.
  13. They need like a way to bring hobgrots as battleline. Maybe combined with an actually rewarding monster allegiance. That would give you a reason to dip outside of boltboy spam.
  14. Sigmar is limping along here, mostly on how people remember it from 2.0 before covid lockdowns. We're only just coming back online for full size in person events so hard to say what impact actually being able to play the game will have on the game.
  15. Seems like the usual brand of terrible internal balance a la SDG. Fyreslayers came out at the same time to a resounding 'meh' so I'm not ready to call power creep.
  16. Lots of good stuff here and I don't really have much to add that hasn't already been noted by more eloquent personas. I would just like to specifically point out that of all the unfortunate turns in the game of late, the worst is new coherency. That needs to die, sooner rather than later. Nothing has done more to create negative experiences than the sheer hassle of saw-toothing 32s, or fighting with two soldiers in a block of 15, or drifting cavalry in the rear. Just... it's an easy problem to fix. Fix it, GW.
  17. I think being reliant on a very expensive, very fragile, middling range shooting unit with equally fragile expensive support pieces is a big pain point with the army. It's the exact sort of list that the best armies in the game right now rip through like tissue paper. And any build other than boltboyz doesn't really seem to get there, it just doesn't have sufficiently strong options for the combat phase to compete with the top table bruisers. Everything's a little too soft offensively, a little too fragile, a little too expensive. This may change going forward if more 3.0 books turn out to be mostly blanket nerfs lol
  18. I think despite the relatively good starting range the army just doesn't lend itself to many interesting builds. Too many units are either support units or ineffective on their own. There's basically The List with boltboyz and very little incentive to diverge from it, and that list feels relatively mediocre next to basically any combination of Ironjawz a couple pages over. One of the best performing lists recently was just basically just 18 boltboyz, 3 shamans, and kragnos. Kinda shows you were the internal balance skews.
  19. It's mostly for the meme. I've run Krusha/Kragnos/Idol in IJ for the same reason lol @Shirtripper Very appreciated! This is very close to what I was already working with so I think I'm on the right track!
  20. @Shirtripper been studying your posts on plasticcraic's blog, I was wondering how you would build a list around a rogue idol. Or even better kragnos and a rogue idol combined!
  21. @CommissarRotke I looked at mine and they do indeed have identical grips to the other weapons, so weapon swaps should be easy if you get the alternate weapons. I think @Dogmantra has a good idea as well, the spear blades are actually pretty big and could be cut down into a short sword if you liked the look of that- might pair well with their smaller shields.
  22. You might be able to find someone in your area who was collecting sacrosanct or strike chamber before who would part with the bits. The multipart kits for a lot of stormcast infantry come with a ton of extra weapons so anyone who kept their bits should have enough to equipped 10 guys.
  23. Oh I must have had the text highlighted from when I was reading it. I didn't mean to quote at all! Probably hit multiquote on reflex
  24. I can look at my NOS Vindictors tonight to see but I did a lot of weapon conversions to sequitors and it was pretty smooth. Stormcast weapons mostly seem to have the same type of material on th grips and hafts making subs seamless. Sacrosanct units especially sequitors and evocators came with a lot of extra weapons that would be good for swaps. Edit: didn't mean to include a quote
  25. These strike chamber 1st generation stormcasts are just jammed with details I quite like what you've done with the banner!
