  1. Coldone knights make for a good dragon themed mount. Essentially you can make a very fluffy list with Black Dragons, Corsairs, and Coldone Riders with a Hydra/Kharybdis to round it out. Just make sure to have the Corsair cloaks match the dragon/cold one colours schemes to better tie your infantry in with the rest of your force.
  2. More info on building an all drake army. Seems like Hammers of Sigmar get Drakes as battleline by default that is pretty cool. https://www.warhammer-community.com/2021/08/12/build-all-dragon-armies-and-other-fierce-forces-with-the-new-stormcast-eternals-battletome/
  3. Personally I do not mind at all it is even more reason for me to skip it entirely and save some money for actual models and better streaming services.
  4. I think that Kragnos actually looks really cool alongside Ogors and particularly BCR which is a shame because they are also the Destruction faction he has had the least interaction with so far. 😥
  5. @GothmaugI love that this makes charging a unit of mounted knights into a dragon a better trade off than sending in a horde.
  6. I wonder if these two represent the future standard for ancient named dragons in terms of stats and rules. I feel like the breath attack and tail attack could be standard for all future named dragons with their special rules tying more to Krondys' spell casting and Karzai's fire of vengance: https://www.warhammer-community.com/2021/08/10/magic-and-mayhem-the-dragon-princes-rules-make-them-a-ruinous-tag-team-in-battle/ So many dragons!
  7. I think you are right which is why earlier on I argued I would rather a unit of smaller troggoth riders preferably with hobgrots as an alternative to traditional cavalry. @Warboss Gorbolg It is strange I keep looking for some good visual comparisons between Kruel Boyz and Ironjawz but I am having a lot of difficulty. I personally prefer the more creepy and realistic approach to Orruks with this release than the cartoony and often homogenous aesthetic of the more typical GW orruk design. But honestly I am having difficulty finding an image of them next to one another to determine how well they scale and if they look good with a shared aesthetic. This is the best image thus far and the Ironjawz are separated by the Bonesplitterz and in that garish yellow scheme. It almost feels like an intentional move in terms of their marketing to separate the two in most images but they also are really tying them together in terms of lore.
  8. I agree with everything you said here. Although I have talked to my friends about how if they ever wanted to split a dualbox with Space Marines or Adepta Sororitas, I might make a heretical chapter using my S2D bits and run them as either Chaos or Imperium on a whim. But I feel I will get harassed by obnoxious Heresy jokes everywhere I go outside of my friend group. 😔 But I love the point you make about the open narrative nature of Slaves to Darkness. It is a fantastic faction and the heavy armour opens my mind to more possibilities rather than restrict imagination in the way we see in 40k. I have often had my chaos warriors fulfill the role of pretty much any possible fantasy race in tabletop RPGs and in my mind within their ranks stand orcs, beasts of chaos, elves, dwarves and mutant monstrosities. I painted my Chaos Warriors armour in red, as I imagine that they are trying to emulate the demons that they worship and they view all mutations as gifts. So much like their faith in these dark deities, their armour unites them. But this same narrative openness applies to so many of the new factions. Stormcast are heroes that transcend upon death and can come from any background or race in the mortal realms and also make use of heavy armour that can allow an open interpretation of who is in anyone's army. For my new Stormcast force it is founded by the soldiers of my Chaos army that did not succumb to the call of the dark gods and the later people who resisted their unholy crusade. Once again in my mind they are every bit as diverse as my Chaos army. But this is also why I am excited by every rumoured unit and faction in AOS as I look forward to seeing how people will reimagine it to fit their own narrative. The Ossiarch's had a bit of a mixed response upon their reveal but the second people started painting them as metallic skeletons or charred bones with internal flames people got really into them. The monotony of Fyreslayers becomes less of an issue when they are painted as frost or flame elementals. Imagination makes the hobby better and I am happy that AOS players are less likely to just paint and build models according to the box art.
  9. They will always look like silly off brand chibi Star Wars Imperial Stormtroopers to me. If I did 40k I am obviously going to lean towards Chaos but I feel pretty much the same way about Chaos Space Marines. This is why I always hold out hope for Dark Mechanicum to get support.
  10. Sorry if this is too far off topic, but are these different Space Marine models actually significant or could you paint this one in blue and run him as an ultramarine or in white and run him as a Whitescar? Other than some iconography and some associated lore this looks indistinguishable from any and all other space marines. This is meant to be a functional question, as I have just started Stormcast with Dominion and I expect more and more similar releases in AOS over the years. I already cannot tell the difference between many of the combat oriented heroes in SCE and I expect this to only become more pronounced throughout the years. But I am just going to choose the models I like best for the role that I need most.
  11. I know that this far from a counter to Teclis, but I do love that this vulture riding prophet can lay the hurt on the god of magic and might force make more use of the limited spells at a higher casting power. But so far seems like a really cool unit and I hope that its presence on the battlefield matches my favourite model so far from AOS 3.0... which is saying a lot 'cause I chose the Thunderstrike side from Dominion.
  12. Here's some news AOS still exists: https://www.warhammer-community.com/2021/08/09/gobsprakk-uses-swampy-magic-bad-smells-and-a-screaming-plant-to-dominate-the-battlefield/
  13. That would be great and that rider would make a great colour scheme for SCE in general.
  14. With all this Gotrek discussion does anyone else wonder if he will remain avalible to all order armies in the future or be included as part of the much debated Duardin Soup? I hope he stays an open pick but that maybe a Keyword will give him just enough synergy to be taken more often in a Duardin book with out making him even more powerful.
  15. This is a great idea and I play Beast Claw Raiders. As such I will probably still strive for a demon engine just to give some hobby variety but I might proxy a Stonehorn for the meantime to see if I want to run a Soulgrinder 😁
  16. Hey folks, I am contemplating using a demonic engine from 40k as a stand in for a Soulgrinder. I feel that the Soulgrinder looks more like a 40k model anyway, so I thought why not lean into it and choose a slightly cooler (imo) model. I am not particularly partial to the Defilier, Hellbrute or Lord of Skulls and would choose a Soulgrinder over them any day. Between the Forge/Maulerfiend, Heldrake and Venomcrawler which do you think would best fit the aesthetic of a Soulgrinder and Slaves to Darkness with the least conversion work? I am also open to suggestions from other ranges as well.
  17. Hmm... alternatively the lack of BoC in the getting started book could mean that we are getting them folded into a different faction. Slaves to Darkness being the most likely candidate. As much as I would love to bring some Dragon Ogors into the fold, I am left with the immortal words of Switch from the Matrix.
  18. I am good with all of those options. I guess I have a thing for spikes. 🤭
  19. Sorry that I default to the rumour thread but this should also be posted here? I typically like posting such things there as it can then be cross referenced to any rumours, particularly in this case as I am personally hoping this is related to Malerion or the Umbraneth. https://www.warhammer-community.com/2021/08/03/the-rumour-engine-3rd-august-2021/
  20. Either this is DOK/Malerion/Umbraneth or Grimdark Batman? https://www.warhammer-community.com/2021/08/03/the-rumour-engine-3rd-august-2021/
  21. Lost Kingdoms Miniatures has a fantastic line of Knights including Pegasus riders: https://www.lostkingdomminiatures.com/en/kingdom-of-mercia/319-339-wind-knights-command-group.html#/26-supports-pre_supported @Overread knows of many fantastic artists and possibly can help fined some more winged angelic/valkyrie models or pegasus riders.
  22. I think adding some chaos heads and filing off any Sigmar iconography might be an easy fix. I am thinking of using Chaos Heads on my Stormcast but cutting off their horns and running them as the warriors that resisted the beckoning of the dark gods... but I would have to cut off the heads of any second hand stormcast I purchase which seems like too much effort for me. Luckily I have a while before I get to my Stormcast and have to decide on my flavour of dragon.
