As others have said often times heroes function more as leaders contributing to the fight but are more suited for giving out commands and fighting alongside troops... But honestly sometimes style points simply matter more than victory points 😎

Okay good to know that I did not miss anything in that regard, it does feel a little out of place to introduce this new Vanquisher unit with so little fan fare especially as they look like they could so easily fill out the future generic battleline role in the next edition starter set 😁 But overall the Thunderstrike units all look aces to me particularly the archers even though I will have a very, very difficult time fitting them into my lists/collection. Especially as the Cellestar Ballista is likely a cheaper option and can easily help fill out the grand battery Battalion.

This is an odd question but will these new sword units have optional parts to build Vindicators or are they only available through the Starter Sets? I do not remember any indication of this and the parts seem fairly different but it still seems weird to me that there is no current info on a generic Vindicator release (unless I am forgetting something). 🤔

Also I somehow missed Lord-Commander Bastian Carthalos sneaky Warscroll preview (clearly distracted by that Chaos Model)! Seriously I think that he captures the epic Primarch feel with such casualness that it is insane. Seriously he is in the pantheon of Sigvald and Morathi tier of named character sculpts for me. I hope that Chaos Undivided get a rival champion such as a resurrected Chrom, Wulfrik, or Engra Deathsword. Between Yndrasta, New named Dragons, and my pal Carthalos I am curious how they will have rework the Celestant Prime? I still like the model, but the others are just so much cooler and their rules are all really great. I hope the ol' Prime at least gets the priest keyword going forward.

In my group's games we are quite forgiving and always keep in mind the budget of players. For example I purchased my Ogors second hand and it came with 10 fenrisian wolves which I use as frostsabers... I prefer the models and don't really have the time and money to rebase them all. However, if I were going to a tournament setting I would likely opt out of using them... but I would never mind if someone else were to use them in that setting.

Do we have a list of the kits that have the updated rules in them? Is it only Orruk Warclans and Stormcast that have the updated Warscrolls or are the rolling reworks being introduced to other armies? Is that a good indication of which armies may get future updates or will it always be announced prior to the rerelease of boxes? I want to know as this can and likely will inform my purchasing habits for units.

Underworlds is always at its most fun when it is showcasing an upcoming faction or subfaction. Like when we first got to see Zarbag's Gitz and Skaeth's Wild Hunt. We still don't know what grand alliance the Silent People fall under so that is a possibility. Also I would love, some swashbuckling Grotbag Scuttlers!

I hope that they get 1/4 allies but that it is tied to the general's mark: Nurgle - Maggotkin Tzeentch - Disciples Khorne - Blades Slaanesh - Hedonites Undivided - Beasts Now here is where things get interesting I hope that Skaven don't ally with S2D but instead can ally 1/4 with the God specific factions based on the Clan. Pestilins: Nurgle Skyre: Tzeentch Moulder: Khorne Eshin: Slaanesh Verminus: Beasts Masterclan: Can mix different Skaven Clans but looses the 1/4 allies. This will give some variety in different ally options between forces while also giving certain limitations. But most importantly it makes Slaves to Darkness feel again like the crossroads for various chaos worshipers. Ideally I would also like certain named characters from the old world to gain the Slaves to Darkness Keyword alongside their Godspecific one such as Sigvald and the Glottkin. If GW were to do this I would buy a start collecting set for Demons of Khorne, Demons of Slaanesh, a box of Dragon Ogors and the inevitable Plastic Shaggoth. To create some varied and themed lists based around certain marks. I also think Chaos Dwarves would work well as a Slaves to Darkness expansion. But I don't think GW wants my money... I also want Demon Prince's to become mages with Khorne prince's becoming Priests. I also really want the Eye of the God's table to get a massive rework along the lines of points for other chaos factions.

This WD update for S2D alongside our countless expansions made me wonder what will be carried forward. For those who play 40k were the updated rules throughout 8th edition such as characters, rules and subfactions from Psychic Awakening included in the 9th edition codices? In other words can we expect the rules from Broken Realms and Wrath of the Everchosen to carry forward into our eventual tome?

Run them your army as Gavspawn and when you get turned into a chaos spawn it will be a blessing... that kinda three dimensional chess will get you promoted to a Tzeentch Demon Prince so you'd be Spawnprince! But as someone that can barely afford one army developing a narrative around opposing factions has been one of my favourite aspects of the hobby. The conflict between my Slaves to Darkness, Stormcast, and Ogors has become a really fun world to play within and the fact that I developed a narrative in which each army feels justified makes it more fun to play these engagements from different angles. I have been really considering getting some Khorne and Slaanesh demons to my Slaves to Darkness to have a schism within my undivided army with growing factions of dissent and also to put me in a position to start a Legion of the First Prince or 40k Demon army. Sadly I can no longer find Wrath and Rapture anywhere at retail price. 😢 @Nos' is firing on all cylinders on this project and I cannot wait to see that Mega Gargant!

I made a nurgle marked beast mage in WHFB and painted it like a skunk when I was a teenager. I will always think of Pestigors as Skunks 😆

The real question, is it even possible to improve on the Harbringer of Decay? I didn't think they would have improved on Kroak and Be'Lakor and I was gladly proven wrong, so lets see if they can do with the best extant resin Chaos lord. Although, I still want ol' Vardek Crom to get an updated plastic model in the style of Sigvald.

Wow I might break my 40k ban for that Custodes vs GSC boxset. Also I am sad as the Warpsmith implies we are not getting a standalone Dark mechanics set anytime soon... oh well I will put my non existent Darkmech money towards some Varanguard, Smug the Dragon, Be'lakor or some other AOS model that was way beyond my price range

I also live in the Chaos Canadian Wastes and I have seen White Dwarf at Indigo. I do not know if it is kept regularly stocked though.

It is funny I only use warcry models for rally the tribes and enjoy them for that reason... like a bunch of random heavily armed psychos that don't have marks just showing up on a battlefield and seeing hulking viking knights and thinking... I think I will take their side in this fight. 😉 But yes other than that one aspect making me laugh it is a really stupid oversight and I already think Idolators proved they will be moving away from that.

I am tempted, it will be my first white dwarf since I was a teenager. I really hope that they eventually update the Eye of the Gods Table. I think it would be cool if it worked on a point system like the other Chaos factions and depending on the mark of the general they would follow the basic point proceeder of their associated god. Undivided will need a new method for gaining points as slaying a hero/monster is a pretty inconsistent way to generate points. What would happen is that as you gained points you could spend them on the chart for your chosen blessing. I would update spawndom to retain the flavour of the original, but function as an upgrade by following the rules of Gift of Morghur, namely if the hero is slain they are replaced by a spawn. I would think of it as their failure is punished by the gods by turning them into a spawn a fate worse than death if you are not already a Beast.

I mean that is why I am distancing myself from rading tea leaves these days, everything looked like swamp debris so I assumed Kruelboyz were inbound.

Dude holding the tree and dagger in the front on the left... it is funny that they used the same dude for two different rumour engines that I was so certain were for AOS and he is such an unmitakably 40k model 😆

I do not personally play 40k and find the medieval to science fiction ratio to always be a little confusing especially when it comes to rumour engines. This is a perfect example, as to me this seems like an AOS model but I typically see people assuming it will be 40K related: Meanwhile I had naturally assumed that these were Age of Sigmar related rumour engines but they were all 40k related:

Aren't Chaos Chosen also an option in 40K? I really hope lore/model wise that they update Chosen to be unmounted Varanguard.

Also could be new Demon Prince(s)!

@ManlyMuppet88 is correct it is an old chaos spawn model and a fantastic one at that. If you want to use it as a demon it would make a pretty dope Demon Prince!
