  1. Makes me actually a bit afraid of my biggest wish, new models for old armies. What if they do release new Yhetees at last, but offer them for a price that just doesn’t feel right at all? Not looking forward to new releases under these circumstances, because I won’t buy them anyway.
  2. Currently thinking about upgrading my 1500p Ogors to 2000 p. With the choice of a Mega-Gargant (<500p, no synergies, 150€) or a SC: Beastclaw (680p, lots of potential synergies, 60€) it’s not even a contest. Sadly.
  3. To be fair, this is in line with roughly comparable models that were put out recently. And I’m sure they did the math and figured they wouldn’t sell a third more models for a third less of the price. But still... I think 1 2k army>500€ is not a good direction for the game as a whole.
  4. I feel like the „single-species factions“, where the whole army consists of a single intelligent species and maybe some mount, are a remnant of the AoS Grand Alliance beginnings, and it severely limits the scope of many new armies. Why not add Crab People to Idoneth, not only as mounts, but as an allied species? Or some fire species to Fyreslayers?
  5. I think Lumineth will sell over time, esp. if they get new units at some point. High elves always have their fanbase in the fantasy genre, and the models are well done. I’d consider their infantry and cavalry miniatures the most convincing/high quality high elf miniatures I so far saw. And I’m not even a fan.
  6. I’m all for simplicity whenever possible. The less time spent with looking at tables, the more time you can spend with looking at THE table. However, I wonder if a general S/T mechanic for everyone wouldn’t, at the end, be simpler and more fair/balanced than the current save, aftersave, rend, unrendable etc. mechanic, which some get and some don’t.
  7. On the other hand, with the offer of a cheap dual box everyone who already has an old Giant model lying around (quite a few of us, I imagine) feels like he is already half-way towards a full Battleline.
  8. They could easily fill them with customization ideas. With so few models needed for a full army you could really go crazy with each. Pretty sure that’s exactly what players will do.
  9. Aww, man. Generation Z. Party is over. But good for the repackaging business.
  10. They are all mancrushers? No more aleguzzling?
  11. I see. „Joining the model in ambush“ does make sense. So everything must be declared during setup. Thanks!
  12. When I set up, say, a Skal of 2 hunters and 12 frostsabers in ambush, do I have to decide during setup how I divide them up (in 1x12 or 2x6 or 6/4/2 or whatever), and who goes with which hunter? Or can I decide that when they come out of ambush (so I can adapt to the situation)?
  13. Nope. Normally, the outcomes of important events depend on many dice rolls, with lots of possibilities to give a bonus or malus to them. They become more calculable that way, while still creating unforeseen situations to which the players must (and should be able to) react. That’s at least at the moment my opinion of the role of dice rolls in games. But, granted, that’s more of an RPG theory perspective.
  14. I think people just tend to hate losing (winning?) a two hour game because of a single dice roll over which none of the players has any control. Unless they’re playing Skaven. 😁
  15. Thanks for the explanation! That does make a lot of sense. It surely is an involved business model with a narrow margin of gains. Regardless, it’s sad. I find it one of the most enjoyable parts of the hobby to customize with a wide range of possible pieces. Not easy to get exactly what you need with eBay.
  16. I think there’s a lot of self-fulfilling prophecy involved. People realize very quickly if a range or a model is neglected miniature- or ruleswise. Which leads to less sales, less likelihood of investment on GW part, and so on. May be impossible at times to discern what came first.
  17. I recently searched all the big bitzshops on the internet from which I had bought before for conversions. Seems they all got no new AoS parts in the recent months. Is the concept of selling bitz dead? Where do you get yours?
  18. Yep. Though, to be honest, I’m not a fan of Rank&File anyway. Just hoping for some oldworld fluff and some a bit „earthier“ miniatures to use for other purposes. Which will be stuck on round bases no matter what.
  19. He‘s reeeeeally swingy, same as the Aleguzzler. I wonder if a whole army of swinginess could work. Or how they will make them more reliable. Another problem is the degrading wounds system. They have to balance it so that the effectiveness of the whole army is not halved after every Gargant has just taken a few wounds.
  20. I like all those details that give you a feel of just HOW huge they are. Using breastplates as finger protection and siege cannon barrels to strengthen their clubs. 😎
  21. I can’t see me starting another army completely from scratch, just because of the base form. So far, every single Specialist Game was deliberately designed so that you could use almost all models in all games. It really adds felt value to the miniatures, even if you don’t plan to play those in the near future. Weird to move away from this concept. And it divides the player base with every miniature they build.
  22. But then the hunter would have to be General, otherwise there’s only 2 battlelines.
  23. As long as it’s delicious. 😁 Huskard may be the only(?) vulture in AoS so far. But a fourth spellcaster variant on foot for the Ogors doesn’t seem to make much sense atm, with so much more immediate stuff to do.
  24. Yhetees also didn’t get the hungry/eating mechanic, so they aren’t even noticeably faster than Ogors on foot. I somehow get the feeling that many of the older models, like Maneaters, Gorgers and Yhetees, got deliberately lacking rules. I fear they won’t be replaced, but phased out with future editions. 😬
  25. That’s an important point. Even if you could afford it, at some point it just feels like you’re being ripped off, and it makes the purchase more difficult to justify in the light of its usefulness. Buying something has to feel right.
