  1. You haven't even voiced the most terrifying thought.   They may spread the reveal out over both sessions, just to torture us that last little bit more.  The only upside is that we will probably finally start being able to buy models in April.

Although it could have been worse I suppose.  They could have done our reveal on April 1st, and left us wondering if this was all an elaborate hoax...

  2. @Dollface A mobile cavalry chaff unit like the old Ellyrian Reavers would be awesome!  Maybe with some sort of ambush rule....

So I had a thought while discussing Phoenix Guard in the Rumours Thread.  Supposing the Lumineth can ally with Cities of Sigmar, does anyone think we'll be getting a better anvil unit than Phoenix Guard?  Do we want a better anvil, or a different play style in general?

From a playstyle perspective, I want a character who functions as a scalpel, a glass cannon that can remove pretty much anything as long as it gets the charge.  Sort of like Idoneth Morrsarr, but a character instead of a unit.

  3. What would be more interesting is seeing how long it takes them to redesign the current Phoenix Guard.  It seems that they've put a descent effort into really entwining the Phoenix Temples into the background, so I feel they're here to stay, if only as a bridge between the humans and aelves.   The models themselves, however, still bear a very Old World vibe.  If they include both the Guard and the Phoenix riders in the Lumineth book, that will probably ensure their longevity, as well as garuantee new models with a more AOS spin on them at some point.   And to be fair, linking elves with phoenixes is GW's most unique thing they ever did with the race in the Old World setting, so it's definitely something worth preserving.

  4. I have to agree with @michu and @robinlvalentine.  As spiritual successors, I think the models are awesome.  There are enough nods to the Asur of old that you can draw lines to what they were.

But they aren't the Asur.  They're the Lumineth.

And in light of that, I appreciate them for what they are.  They are Aelves.  They are AOS.  They are the best looking aelf faction in AOS so far.  And while the models do slightly terrify me as I live in a home with rampaging toddlers, I also can't wait to get started on them!

  5. Intruiging.  A chalice would also be appropriate for Tyrion as he was the epitome of an Elven Knight.  Good catch!

That's also an interesting observation about the current color scheme being linked to Teclis, as it involves mostly cool colors, colors usually associated with moon light.  I wonder, if Tyrion's faction does exist, if they have a warmer, more sun light focused color scheme for him?

Man, that was a lot of "ifs" in that pondering....

  6. So I know you like to remain cryptic on this kind of stuff, but does that mean that Tyrion is part of his own army, or that we've only seen the Teclian half of the Lumineth, and that Tyrion's half is still waiting to be revealed?  Because I would happily buy the new Teclis model, build it and paint, and then spike it into the wall to get a new Tyrion model.

  7. I'm trying not to have expectations or second guess things at this point.  I'm just enjoying the new models, and will wait for the reveal to see what we get.  At this point, with all of the discussion we've had in this thread, we've all sort of crafted our own perfect armies, which is most likely not going to be what we get.  So from here on in I'm going to enjoy the Lumineth for what they are, not for what I want them to be.  Time to use some old busted Savage Orc models to try out some paint schemes!

  8. I wonder if we'll actually be getting units to represent each caste.  Somebody memtioned that Teclis and Tyrion might represent the only things from "Zenith" since that's supposed to be above them all.  The Hammerers and Stonemage obviously take "Mountain."  That might just leave us with "Wind" and "Water."  I could see the Veiled Damsel being our "Water" piece, especially as her chalice seems to be giving off some sort of fog.  Which would leave us with "Wind."  Assuming they are bringing a Swordmaster like unit back, and that said Swordmasters are not now "Hammer Masters," I could see them being our "Wind" unit in a dual kit with the Hammerers.

  9. I'm going to distract myself by re-reading the Ragnar Blackmane saga.  And honestly, I like the archers a lot, even the helmets.  They have a very oriental feel which I can get behind.  I also love that the unit champion has a falcon.  In my younger days I used to work at Medieval Times (a US diner-theatre) as the Castle Falconer.  I miss my birds something fierce, so I am going to paint the ****** out of that Falconer Champion!

  10. I agree, I'm really liking the Zenith color scheme!

Now for the good news/bad news.  After re-reading the article for the umpteenth time, it sounds like we won't be getting any more articles till Adepticon.  But the good news is we'll probably be getting our full reveal then!  So, we only have to hold out 2 more weeks for our new stuff!

  11. As some one who dearly loved my High Elves of old, I still really like everything we've seen so far.  While they're starting to show their new identity, especially the Stonemage, everything we've seen so far still really captures the spirit of the Asur of old.

On the subject of the paint job, I think their biggest flaw was they kept it a little too bland.  I think you could make the current scheme work still, there just needs to be an additional color of two to make the scheme pop!
