Grombindal is really nice and I like how he's a regular duardin. Not a pirate, not a tech marine, etc. He's going to fit in more armies I think.

Talking about daemon releases, I wonder if we would see any new types of Daemons. As far as I can see, there have been very few new types of daemons released since the very start, 30+ years ago. Realm of Chaos: Slaves to Darkness describes the servants of Khorne/Slaanesh: The Bloodthirsters, Greater Daemons of Khorne. The Bloodletters, Lesser Daemons of Khorne The Fleshhounds, Creatures of Khorne The Juggernauts, Steeds of Khorne The Keepers of Secrets, Greater Daemons of Slaanesh The Daemonettes, Lesser Daemons of Slaanesh The Fiends, Creatures of Slaanesh The Mounts of Slaanesh, Steeds of Slaanesh Realm of Chaos: The Lost and the Damned describes the servants of Nurgle/Tzeentch: The Great Unclean Ones, Greater Daemons of Nurgle Plaguebearers, Lesser Daemons of Nurgle. Nurglings, Daemonic Servants of Nurgle Beasts, Creatures of Nurgle The Lords of Change, Greater Daemons of Tzeentch The Pink Horrors/Blue Horrors, Lesser Daemons of Tzeentch Flamers, Creatures of Tzeentch Discs, Steeds of Tzeentch Outside of these, I can think of Screamers of Tzeentch (unmounted discs?) Brimstone Horrors of Tzeentch Plague Toads (FW), creatures/steeds of Nurgle. Rot Fly, steeds of Nurgle. Furies - Unaligned Daemon Brutes (FW) - Unaligned?

Darkoath box ordered, luckily it wasn't too limited and I hope everyone else that wanted one got theirs.

Darkoath box is a must buy. I'm guessing a lot of other people will feel the same and it could be a race to get a box Saturday morning.

Less stress when building kits also, go with what looks cool and not have to worry about the best option for gaming.

Scyla arrived this morning and I'm just assembling him as I read this. Plus the only stormcast units I have painted are all on that list. However, I think this is a good thing. It ends all the speculation, it clearly states they can still be used until Summer 2025 competitively and that they'll continue receiving adjustments throughout the edition after that. Even then, I don't play competitively, so it doesn't really make a huge difference to me. I still have the enjoyment from modelling, painting and displaying my units. If I want a game with friends, I can still use the same units.

I wasn't suggesting Abraxia takes her place, it was more that there were rumours about a Valkia update linked to Dawnbringers, which seemed to then get lent more weight with the rumour engine of the spear. Once that was shown to be Abraxia, I was just asking if there was anything still pointing to a potential Valkia update.

With the reveal of Abraxia, which solved the spear rumour engine, has that now killed off the hope of seeing a redone Valkia for Blades of Khorne? The only resin kits left for BoK now are Valkia, Scyla and the two Juggernaut heroes (Lord and Herald) I think. So for the new edition a couple of new plastic Heros and BoK is in a good place miniature range wise?

I was just thinking that, there's nothing that I can see on them that shows them as 40k.

In the meantime I've been able to track down a copy of the Gnarlspirit pack and the Darkoath Savagers came back in stock, so I've gone with those. @TrawlingCleaner, you make a good call on some of the monsters to go along with them. I've kind of wanted an excuse to get a Mindstealer Sphrinx, so this is perfect. Plus Furies and Raptoryx to represent some wildlife going along with them. Perhaps too optimistically, I checked ebay for a Chaos Mammoth, as I was thinking one of those with Darkoath for the crew would be cool. Just not at those prices...

I've noticed that checking Reddit had lots of posts saying "Rumours", that were just wishlists from this thread.

It sort of came, it was just repurposed to be Skaarac instead. I wonder if they will re-release some of the chaos dwarf sculpts from FW as part of the old world.

I would've got it if they hadn't already shown off the Darkoath box coming soon. To me, the Kroot are closer in style and sculpts to AoS stuff. One of the rare 40k releases recently that does appeal to me. However, I can't justify getting them when I know so much AoS (and ToW) stuff is coming down the tracks.

Kroot box is still in stock on the UK GW site and I can see 3rd parties have it as low as £114.75. Fingers crossed the Darkoath box release is the same price and availability.

O&G didn't get any new plastic sculpts shown off I don't think? So it depends if every faction is getting new plastic or not.

With the new Darkoath releases previewed now, I'm going to jump on the bandwagon. I wanted to get some stuff ahead of time to practice paintjobs and get started. However all the previous Darkoath things seem to be unavailable. I was wondering if there are any other current Chaos / Slaves to Darkness units that will fit the Darkoath Theme / potential rules?

The common belief is that there is going to be a new Dwarf lord on Shield Bearers mini for ToW, due to the description in the new rules not matching the old one. There is likly also going to be at least another resin hero for them, even if we don't a plastic kit ala Knights on Feets.

Darkoath look amazing. So much character in each sculpt, like the WHU or Warcry blown up to a full faction. You could really picture backgrounds and stories for every mini. The only thing on the 40k side that is coming close to the current AoS design is the Kroot recently. My only downer is that they mention the WHU and Warcry Darkoath warbands at the bottom, as both seem to be unavailable when I went to try and buy one With so much detail on each mini, I'd like to get some practice in before committing to a full army box.

Is this just for the event or will they have them for sale at WHW going forward? It's about an hour drive from me, so could be worth the fuel costs to grab them.

All these new Darkoath, plus the ones we've seen in warbands/hero minis are incredibly cool. So much character in each sculpt. It also gives you the option of starting small, with a WHU or Warcy warband and building up a larger force. I think I need to get some practice painting skin and furs now...

While I do get the idea behind wanting AoS to be it's own thing, GW only have themselves to blame for how they've been knocking it out of the park with their updated sculpts. Dwarfs for me. I found a box of Ironbreakers I had stashed away, so have started with those and making my own movement trays, while I wait for the current AoS dwarfs to come back into stock and for the preview of what is being re-released/new minis. I can then fill any gaps using the Highland dwarfs.

Ironbreakers are around the same height, but a little less chonky. The Hammerers\Longbeards would fit the scale mail look a little better, but I don't have any of those to compare. Can we please all pour one out for Shar'tor being punished for being AoS and not being included in the Chaos Dwarf ToW rules. I guess you could use him as a Bull Centaur Taur’ruk but he's quite a bit bigger and would struggle to fit on a 50x75mm base Fingers crossed he'll get added back in with future AoS rules and get a re-release.
