  1. And never forget that a charge roll is 2 d6 so auto 12 inch charge . Sadly he does ****** damage till turn 3. And even then it is often not enough.
  2. I almost do the same i use the foot celestant with 3 commandpoints and vindicator stormhost. It gives both paladin units plus 1 attack and plus 1 to hit rerolling 1 on the charge. It does decent damage.
  3. Yeah u need the lord celestant on foot version sadly. Nice plan tho.
  4. Played against sepharon yesterday. 2000 points skyborne slayers into an monster list supported by a slan. I oneshotted his engine and bastilidon turn 1. Thought it was nice till the salamander and slann starting to unleash hell upon me. Underestimated these salamanders bigtime. Even in melee they hit like a truck. As sce i dont see we got this amount of punishment on any of are models.
  5. I would say yes with low armour type of units. But against 10 mortek guard or 10 guys with a 4 up save its no where near enough. Decimators are great on paper but lack damage on the job. They only doing really well against 6+ armour save dudes on small bases. There isnt a lot of those in this meta to be honest. And the few that are out there you wanna hit hard because they going to hit like a glass cannon on you aswel;) The main damage still come from the starsoul maces from my experience. I used to run skyborne with 5 decimators but i feel like 10 are doing a decent job.
  6. The way it works for me is dropping the lord celestant and 2x10 paladins on a target they can kill. While the liberators shieldwall protects them from counter charges. I use my 2x5 juds to soften up units that are anoying or hard to deal with. I sometimes only use the 10 protectors and the lord celestant to hammer an unit and the rest to stall the enemy of objectives. The prime is there for the turn 2/3 hammer blow against stuff i need gone. Like support characters or an lord kroak. Doesnt always work cause like the gav bomb people know what to do.
  7. we got 25 people events and soon in germany an 100 player event. Im not to worried to be honest. I think if the numbers are still oke we slowly see some tournaments starting to take place again.
  8. i found that xbolt judicators dont work well with a lord relictor but bow judicators are awsome. Its cause of the range so would keep the bow dudes. I like how the new points make this list possible but i dont think its strong cause its 1 treath and thats 20 juds. Would love 2 treaths atleast:)
  9. Last few games im playtesting my "new" skyborne slayers list for tournament play. Last 100 player tournament in Belgium i went place 32. Could easy be going 4-1 but lost unlucky on a run move to grab the last objective. On 17-18 October there is an 100 player tournament in Germany. Im going to take my Belgium list updated to the new points. So far ive tested it against a few strong lists against players who i play al the time. Starhost is my opponent next game on friday. So far i did good and made no errors playing. This list is shown below. For the new battleplans i feel its nice to have an teleporting lord relictor and some more battleline body's thats why i updated the liberators.   12. i love the celestant prime as a turn 3 hammer that you cant kill if its not on the table... Doesnt do anything either so it has its good stuff and its bad stuf.. But i would love to give him higher points with better rules. The thing i would like the most is more damage. Like on turn 3 i do like 15 damage average in my games with him on the charge+shooting. Thats not enough to kill most stuff and he's 3 turns in the sky sitting there for that 1 hammer blow... Its should be a K.O blow when u drop him. I would like the whole warriorchamber range to ignore -1 rend.
  13. haha, i have somewhat the same experience with doing starcast stuff last year. I did run 2 stardrakes cause i thought it would be fun to starcast everything to dead with double rains. But after 2 tournaments tabling a lot of fights i felt a bit hollow cause the mechanic was so boring to play with. its almost as easy as sit back and kill al the hero's turn 1/2 and mop up the rest of the army. No i know that in the new meta things arent so easy and i make it sound it was tournament winning and it was not but it still felt super boring after a few games. I rebuild my army to be the underdog skyborne slayers and having less wins but a lot more fun. And im getting really good at the game making tactical calls or playing for the middle tables.
  14. i agree but with the new meta we about to face no 5 wound heroes are going to be there long. So that synergie we be looking for and we think is needed just wont survive till turn 2/3. Atleast im up against a competive envirement with oldschool stuff.:) Im still not sure we can build around heroes in a non combat meta.
  15. im thinking about going minimum heroes. Going to test my 2 hero list on friday just to see if i miss it. Cause in the new meta it feels like im better of with more bodys then heroes that have a high chance of going BOOM in turn 2. R.I.P My fav lord relictor character. Not sure i keep seeing u on the field my bro
  16. i do think there is something for us here. Mayb just mayb if we enter the long range mortal wound meta. Skyborne slayers are decent against that. I havent lost a match vs a shooting army so far with it. Most of the times i was just ahead on objectives. We can stay in the sky for a long time and if there is no decent screening we can do some damage. Its not meta breaking but i see some thing to be said for the slayers here. Hope 1 of the realms fit us well
  17. no need to panic you can just do 1 after save but cant stack that to 2 after saves. This isnt really a problem for us like it is a problem for skaven/death and mayb nurgle

  21. I cant agree more. With the judgement sword gone we miss a hero/monster killer. And protectors are a lot but not monster killers. That ability has never worked for me in so many matches i forget the number. I did try it with 10 and 15 and the starsoul maces are doing oke but the 6 to hit hardly passes the wound and armour save roll.
  22. Yeah i love skyborne slayers, but right now its a uphill fight against most players that i cant suprise because they know my list. Mayb with the new point changes we free up a couple of points to be a little bit better. Sad to see my lord celestant with judgement bomb gone. cause he was making games. Any sugestions how to run him now? Was thinking about staunch defender and mirrorshield or something protectives cause 5 wound hero aint going to survive much.
  23. Yeah, its nice on the internet. But in practise i can tell it aint going to work. I do play skyborne slayers for a very long time weekly and most things on the theorie crafting part works not atm with stormcast.. Because simple not enough damage... Funny enough the knight venator gets mentioned;) must be a narretive game:)

Sure you have to set em all up at the same time and within 12" of a point, but not fully within, so leaving some room on the flanks and behind your line. While its tempting to add more paladins and/or redeemer units, its well worth adding 6 longstrikes and a venator to do some sniping, add the Anvils of Heldenhammer stormhost, and really add some extra fiwfiw, say the are from Hysh and laugh maniacally, when your Aetherquarts Brooch gives your your commandpoint back! or add a 420 point Templar on a Star Drake and say they are now from Shyish, and give him ethereal :). The battalion (imo) plays best with 15 protectors, 10 sometimes dont get the job done. and would prefer 6 longstrikes and the venator over the dragon. they add more consistent mw output and work very well with the stormhost! Note that you always give the protectors max star soul maces, and for the Decimators, you could, but just thrown them at a horde unit. theyll do more work with 50 3/3/-1 attacks than 30 attacks and 2d3 mw. As for the Lord Celestant, just keep him behind the protectors incase you want to spend a commandpoint fighting them twice! you have to give him the garbage command trait and weapon from the Stormhost, but he wasnt gonna do alot in melee anyway, just use his cape? to shoot. Same for the Judies, give them crossbows, and for the special weapon take the bow, theyll soften up the enemy for the Protectors. With the 2019 Points changes to evoc going up and protectors going down, its a strong battalion, and a valid strategy.
