  1. Yes, I agree. DoW 1 is still one of my most-played games, would love to see something like that done for AoS.
  2. I'm guessing you put Festus on top of the Balewind for LoS for the plague squall - so what did you use the second cast of the epitome for normally (assuming its first was its own spell)?
  3. I'll tell you what other matchup gives lots of -1 to hit: Nurgle! You have Cloud of Flies, Favoured Poxes, Gift of Contagion... 🙃
  4. Hehe, that hasn't stopped SCE and Khorne from getting stuff in the past 😛
  5. I was thinking of endless spells (Battletome too much to hope for) - if they could release some Nurgle endless spells, they could really help our army as a stopgap measure if they did some of the following: they provided a new way to generate contagion points they did some hefty MW output and/or debuffs they provided us a +1 to hit bubble, thus making BKs and Blades do their thing on 5+, or 6+ even with the legendary "-1 to hit Meta(TM)"
  6. Hi all, did anyone read the story on warhammer-community on Friday? Firstly, it was nice to see that GW haven't forgotten completely that Nurgle exists, but secondly do you think we might be able to take that narrative as possibly a sign that some nice things might be on our way? For one, this object of power that was in the Stormvault is now under Nurgle's control - could be a way to give us some endless spells maybe? Also, Horticulus says, "The next great sowing is a-coming, mortal. Ye should feel honoured to be playin’ your part in the cycle.". Could it be that after waning since AoS 2 / GHB 18, Nurgle's power is going to wax again sometime soon ...
  7. Am I right in thinking this FAQ confirmed that spells / abilities that work off characteristics also take into account modifiers? If so, that makes Cloying Quagmire a bit more tempting, especially if you are likely to face Fyrelsayer 1+ saves or SCE 2+ saves.
  8. The fact that they have been updating the errata in a more agile way now, and ours still remains untouched means we can finally put the Blightkings unmodified 6s thing to rest. Ain't going to happen until a new Battletome is out.
  9. I would also add here that 30 HGBs on 32mm bases, 3 ranks of 10, 1" apart, has a table real estate of, what, 21" x 5"? So that's a theoretical charge range bubble of 66" x 29"? So avoiding them is not always so easy. And if they are Hermdar, there is nothing in the game that can charge them and come out on top. If I were nerfing, I would make a couple of changes: that command ability in YOUR combat phase, rather than THE combat phase, so that they are at least able to be alpha struck by a low drop army; and ideally the FNP would be dropped or never go above 6. They are still the strongest combat unit in the game without the FNP, why that was tacked onto their Warscroll is beyond me.
  10. I'd really love to see the Lord of Afflictions go down to less than 200. Same with Plague Drones. And seeing as every other faction's mickey mouse battleline units seem to get rend these days, a discount on the Blight Cyst would be most welcome.
  11. The thing with monks is, if you have the woe stave, a Plague Furnace and a Glottkin and they charge you get 3 -> 5 -> 7 -> 9 attacks per monk (if anyone can add to this list, feel free to chip in🙂). That's 360 attacks for a full strength unit, so 60 mortal wounds on average for your Blades-buffed monks, not to mention the extra rend and damage they get on unmodified 6 to hit/wound. It's just a pity that if they charged Hermdar Lodge Berserkers, they'd all be dead before they even got to attack 🙁
  12. Yeah, the Plaguebearer fluff looks like: I'd like to see those Plaguebearers in my army some day...
  13. What gives me hope was that that was right in the early days of AoS 2 and the state of meta hadn't played out. Now in the era of "if everything is OP, then nothing is OP", older battletomes look much tamer than they did a year ago. I still think we are in a decent enough place, but we have to be a bit smarter in our play than other factions with more cheese. "Get better at Warhammer" as the Honest Wargamer likes to say.
  14. Blightkings up? With Hearthguard Beserkers currently costing 40 points less for 5, the only thing that would justify 180 for BKs is unmodified 6s and -1 rend. I hope the Glottkin gets reduced in price to somewhere in the 300s, as well as the Lord of Afllictions to about 200. I also think our battalions need a points adjustment, there can't be many factions with more expensive ones. And in terms of effectiveness, Chaos Warriors should be worth as much as a Feculent Gnarlmaw 😀
  15. Are you talking about volcanic blood not going off on mortal wounds, or bloated with corruption?
  16. Also, does the +1 to hit from the Chaos Lord also include the horse? It says "re-roll charge rolls for that unit and add 1 to any hit rolls for them".
  17. Yes, I like it, great stuff! And what about allying in a Beast of Chaos wizard to cast the Wildfire Torus, send it into that Ghoul King on Terrorgheist to make it fight last, and then hit it with the putrefacted knights. OK, that's a lot of moving parts there, but I bet it would be immense fun if it came off. 😁
  18. What about blades with Chaos Knights? If you have the Lord on Daemonic mount (who I take sometimes and use him to buff drones) he gives them +1 to hit with his command ability, meaning their blades putrefy on 5+, and the leader on 4+. (And you get the mounts' attacks on top of that as well).
  19. That's some evil genius right there. I like it! If someone complains that you are measuring from the second portal, just say, "oh yes, the caster..." and expand the measure to go from the second portal all the way back to the caster and start measuring out a circle with that radius ....
  20. Sorry to return to the Magmadroth again, but do you know how volcanic blood might play with the command trait Bloated with Corruption? Would the mortal wounds that the damn thing causes to my hero, then potentially be bounced back again to it via the command trait?
  21. Agree with everyone else, your input is very much appreciated. Like you, i am also only dedicated to Nurgle really, although I have some Skaven and a bunch of (now retconned/obsolete) Orcs and Goblins from my WHFB days. Regarding Skaven, you say we can take non-Pestilens as allies? Is that true? I only have general's handbook 2018 as my guide, and haven't seen the new Skaven book, but there it lists our allies as basically non-Tzeench StoD, Everchosen, Beasts and Monsters. No Skaven. If we can, then a cheapo Skyre wizard + WLV is tempting...
  22. Yes, that's what I was thinking. Also, if you roll a 6+ to hit so get the MW, but fail the wound roll, or the thing passes its save, have you really inflicted a wound with a melee weapon? I would say not.
  23. Hi all, Long time lurker here with my first post! A couple of rules questions as well as more general musings. First up, presumably the Lord Of Afflictions benefits from his own reroll 1 to hit buff, but does that include all the drone's attacks too or just the Festerspike? Secondly has anyone seen the new warscroll for Magmadroths? It says that any wound allocated to it "afflicted by a melee weapon" reflects a mortal wound back on 4+. Do you think this also includes any mortal wounds caused by Blades of Putrefaction or could they be exempt? Lastly, has anyone been keeping up on rumours regarding a possible new Slaves to Darkness Battletome? Or rather what do you think we could see and can we hold out any hope for more punch for our Nurgle army via updated Warriors or Knights etc? I am also slightly worried they might do away with the mark of the gods, and replace that with their new fad of hosts, lodges, enclaves within an StoD allegiance (ie allegiance Slaves, Host: Nurgle), thus removing Warriors et al from our Battleline.
