  1. @Eldarain thanks, very interesting (and cool considering i don't think hysh aelves were mentioned in blades of khorne which did speak of malerion's aelves), i think its going to manifest (atleast partially) as endless spells and unit buffs. but ancient hysh spirits sounds different to constructs (not that i would be against constructs, it sounded like it came out of no where)
  2. *most likely won't be back, GW has done weird and surprising things before, and there i nothing stopping them from doing what they want in AOS I ope not as it would reduce the chances of wanderers getting new and unique stuff, rather they stay separate.
  3. the hatch is not very very sister of battle, it doesn't match any sister vehicle in the past nor does it have fleur de lis (it is closer to the cross of Saint James the Greater), it is however identical to scion(and guard)/admech hatches so its more likely a new or updated vehicle for them. thus it should be moved to grey box, with the caption; " admech/scion (maybe sister)"
  4. plus malerions aelves are mentioned as no longer hideing in the blades of khorne book (unlike light aelves which aren't mentioned)
  5. @Chikout *crosses fingers in irrational hope for an army that captures Brettonian visuals to be released 'soon'*
  6. disagree, every other god gets their own tome, why would two gods who; A-don't share a home realm and B-hate each other share a tome, it just does not match GW's current buisness model for battle tome themes aditionly the blades of khorne book teases the release of shadow aelves but not light aelves aditionally mixing two contradictory themes towgther would just make a mess of an army; - what would the free terrain be (one army is going to loose out) - how the hell is the battle traits going to work - how limited is the endless spellls going to be -speaking of limited think of how limited the theme will be on a tactical level. it would not only make no sense fir GW but suck for us players. I also doubt GW would waste the opportunity to expand and sell two major aelf armies (double the units, terrain and endless spells to sell) especially since aelf armies tend to sell really well and be very popular. besides they have been hyping these factions as SEPARATE for eons now, just can't imagine they will be like "yes you know those two new factions we have been teasing for ages, yeah we desided e could be be bothered treating them like even the most minor factions and jsut through them in 1 tome even though they share nothing in commen thematically, or in the lore so far but they are both aelves so they should be in 1 tome" it would be like putting slaanesh and nurgle in 1 tome and largely sharing the same kits while khorne and tzeentch get full unique armies. if this happens i won't buy a single model or the battle tome (ok thats a lie, but it still makes no sense and would be lazy as anything) they aren't even the same race (sure they are both aelves, but they are created by different gods with completely different traits), i can see a combined free city aelf tome, i can see daughters of khaine absorbed into shadow aelves (as they both come from ulgu) but cannot see the realm of light and the realm of shadows being put into one tome with only 2 units (not including heroes) each and then a whole lote of old stuff that don't even match the new themes properly. AND this is before we talk about wanderers who are not even associated with either light or shadow aelves (they are sylvaneth if anything)
  7. i doubt this for a number of reasons, firstly they come from completely different realms, and barely associate with each other in the lore, shadow aelves are already mentioned reltatively alot and are always by themselves (never with light aelves) unlike daughters of khaine (which have lore with them working with non-daughter of khaine aelves) secondly they are mentioned as different factions in the lore, spoken about in different sentences etc, for example the khorne book mentions the shadow aelves as a faction but makes no mention of light aelves. and tyrion is gathering an army in hysh and is (so far not working with malerion for his army) the two realms are described as haveing an intense rivalry in the lore, and tyrion and malerion hate each other. GW is unlikely to combine two very aethestically different factions like this, it would also limit the way they can make each army play. what would the free terrian and endless spells be? if you have two literally opposite themes all you end up doing is heavy limiting the models, units, spells, terrian, etc of the each theme and make a mess of an army as a whole. you limit the lore of both sides, and why would they take two major aelf (hell major AOS) factions and combine them when KO, DoK, DK, etc all minor factions get their own battle tome. GW is following a theme where each god has their own army battle tome (sigmar has the storm caste tome, khorne has blades of khorne, nurgle has his maggotkin, etc. why put two major gods have to share a battle tome [and not get their own] when even every other god has at least one battletome dedicated to their followers/minions? we will almost certainly see separate light and shadow aelf battle tomes.
  8. you forget that modern sprues are designed on computer not molded by hand, that means they could easily make new molds for the models on old spures (they effectively do and did this all the time when they recycled parts between different sprues, such as old space marines) the problem is more the cost of making the mold for a sprue vs how much it will likely sell. basically, at any time they could with minimal effort bring back those units on the joint sprues, but they would only do it if they new it would be profitable. it would be cheaper then making new units (as it cuts out the majority of the design aspect, keeping only the arranging of the model pieces on the sprue, as opposed to designing new pieces from scratch). what i am saying is its not a matter of difficulty but of cost vs expected returns, i expect when Skaven get a model update we will see the mortar returning as it would be relatively easy. additionally, I wouldn't be surprised to see the some of the aelven side of dawnspire return in whatever the faction that ends up with the skycutter (as they match the aesthetic of the skycutter which is a unique and dynamic model and thus very likely to stay even if the older aelves are squated/partially squated)
  9. more like a taurox hatch (and thus imperial guard) to me (sorry for the 40k)
  10. honestly wouldn't mind if they re-did some of the high/dark aelf stuff to fitt a closer visuals. some kitts (the newer ones like skycutters) could stay the same while new dynamic 'generic' stuff could be added. so a free city aelf book would have a unit called aelf spearmen (or some such name) and they get upgraded in various ways depending on subfaction (swifthawks would give them bows for example) and the new kitts would include the upgrades for the generic stuff. it could have a generic foot lord and mounted lord, generic spearmen, swordsmen, archers and medium-light cavalry and then each subfaction would add unique units and lords aswell as upgrades to the generic stuff. that would be my ideal result for the legacy aelves.
  11. I disagree, because A-they share a kit with the wanderers (meaning unless they get absorbed [in which case you are fine] or wanderers are squated [but they are aparently very good sellers so i doubt that] you are fine) AND the skycutter is both a unique and dynamic kit. at worst they will be absorbed into another aelf faction, they are arguably one of the most likely of the 'city aelves' the be expanded apon tho (other then wanderers)
  12. energy constructs? why would it have energy constructs? hysh magic is made into edible cristals so far in the lore. the lore so far says Tyrion is gathering a force (not just making it) which implies his army is at the very least going to have units other then recovered souls.
  13. its quite clearly [insert faction]'s [insert missing unit/terrain/etc]
  14. so I was browsing black library and noticed the gie on this cover looks very wanderer-y and but his chain-mail armor doesn't exist on any models, do any of you think this is what the new wanderer aethestic will look like when they eventually redo heroes (and units i suppose)
  15. Skarbrand hates knocking sounds! Skarbrand also hates going outside! And going inside! Skarbrand shall stay in the doorframe. He hates it slightly less! sorry couldn't resist
  16. I would think "war takes root" is more related to Sylvaneth then Wanderers and Sylvaneth still need a 2.0 battletome... but, what if the reason its Gloomspite and Sylvaneth is because gloomspite have a duality in their tome, mayhaps the Sylvaneth will have a similar thing with wanderers.
  17. the funny thing is that the most likely way GW will 'bring back' bretonians is by expanding upon free guild knights in a subfaction
  18. It would be super cool to have brets vs tomb kings
  19. well, I know the British army did this exact thing during the Boer war in South Africa. both sides marched up a hill on a moonless night and built defenses 20m away from each other, only noticed in the morning when the mist lifted (and the shooting started) But I agree, it would be better if you paid points for the terrain, that way they are not auto-include and the games where both players have less mobile terrain are more easily justified as it happens less often.
  20. @awcamawn calling them weird tree things was supposed to be a joke, and I fully well know their relations the Sylvaneth have with the wanderers. I was just pointing out that "they share just as much if not more" with free citie aelves to counter the idea they share nothing in common. Aditonally Wanderers are grouped with Aelves not Sylvaneth and in the faction focuses a while back they were grouped with the other aelves into the aelf faction focus. Greywater fastness lore has aelves liveing in the city, but the only aelves they can use in battle are wanderers yet the city is hostile to Sylvaneth [well the other way round], plus as you say they share much in common with lion rangers. I probably should have said "argueably' they share just as much with the other aelves as they do Sylvaneth. I also think mixing them with Sylvaneth would be lazy and pointless, Lazy as its just old wood aelves with rather then something new and interesting. and pointless as Sylvaneth have stuff for elite archers, and both cheap and elite infantry. they only lack cheap archers and cavalry. but this is my subjective opinion. I can see it happening both ways honestly.
  21. I would think they would have a few more than three, theres not much that unites order draconis and lion rangers anymore, but Eldritch Council and swifthawk agents work together in hysh, and both eldritch council, order serpentis, darkling coverns and order draconis have dragons, lion rangers and phoenix temple are both described as monastic orders, darkling coverns and scourge privateers work together in the lore, shadow blades are literally from ulgu and order serpintis are linked to mist (if i remember correctly). swifthawk agents and wanderers are bow focused factions, etc. I imagine we'll get hysh-themed (swifthawk agents, order draconis and eldritch council), ulgu-themed (order serpentis, and shadow blades atleast), monastic order themed (phoenix temple and lion rangers), wanderers, dark free city (darkling coverns and scourge privateers, possibly combined with ulgu themed) this is 5 subfactions (same as legions of Nagash) and groups them based on lore and themes considering in the lore the Wanderers work for the armies of the free peoples (like all the other aelves factions) and live in the free cities like all the other aelf factions, you could say they share just as much in common if not more with other aelves then weird tree things hawk riders should be part of swiftHAWK agents, I mean imagine reavers but they fly (could release a plastic kit that allows for both like the dark riders/doomfyre warlocks)
  22. you forgot imperial guard, which have pretty old models. other then the scions the IG plastic kits are just as old as the eldar plastics (both are needing updates) and many of the regiments are still metal (it would be nice if we atleast got an upgrade sprue for them), not saying eldar don't need it too, but I think the IG need it aswell.
  23. yes you are correct, i did mean order serpentis
  24. I wouldn't be suprised if swifthawks are included in Tyrion's aelves, nor would i be suprised if order draconis is with Malerion's aelves. but I do agree that the magority (if not all) of the 'classic' aelves will most likely be in a combined tome with Tyrion's and Malerion's aelves being largely (if not wholly) new. I wonder to what extent GW has desided things on the aelves...
  25. I don't Ironweld will be split up. we already have books that expand apon Ironweld lore, and they have made it clear that the Ironweld Dwarves are not lead by dispossessed and have closer relationships to humans. what i think will happen is 'free peoples', dispossessed and aelves all all have battle tomes based on the website, but all three tomes will have the 'free cities' keyword allowing for mixed human-dwarf-aelf armies.
