  1. Beasts can't take BoK as allies, so that is not an option. For those wondering about the main issue though, unless there is an FAQ, even though the battalion gives all the units within it the god keyword, since the battalion itself lacks the keyword, the whole thing and all units within count as allies. Per the FAQ: "Q: The rules say that a warscroll battalion can include allies and that they don’t count against the number of allies in the army. Does this rule only apply to battalions that share the same allegiance as the army, but that have units from two different factions (a battalion in a Daughters of Khaine army that has Daughters of Khaine and Stormcast Eternals units, for example)? A: Yes. The faction a warscroll battalion belongs to is shown on its warscroll, above the title of the battalion. In addition, the battalion is assumed to belong to the Grand Alliance that its faction is a part of. Warscroll battalions that share the same allegiance as an army can always be taken as part of the army, and if they include any allied units, these units do not count against the limits on the number of allies the army can have (or against the points limit that can be spent on allies in a Pitched Battle). An army can include a warscroll battalion of a different allegiance to the rest of the army, but if it does so the units in it do count against the limits on the number of allies the army can have (and the points for the battalion and the units in it count against the points limit that can be spent on allies in a Pitched Battle)." Now the designers have said leading up to the books release that the battalions were meant to let you take BoC units under the god allegiances. So this is probably just an oversight. However we have had book designers overturned in the past (such as when the writers of DoT said you could use destiny dice on mortal wound rolls).
  2. You don't pay points for summoned units anymore and they do not appear in you list. If you have a rule that creates new units, it just happens as long as all conditions are met.
  3. That was actually changed in a recent FAQ. He is effectively a 9 wound wizard now. Gaunt Summoner and Chaos Familiars, Chaos Familiars Change the first paragraph to: ‘If any wounds or mortal wounds are allocated to this model and not negated, you can choose to remove one Chaos Familiar. If you do so, the wound or mortal wound is negated.’
  4. Thinking about giving this list a spin the next time I break out my Tzeentch stuff. I know Enlightened are probably FAR better than Skyfires at this point, but I just can't bring myself to paint 6 more disk riders after spending days on the Skyfires last year (same reason I wont be painting 5 more foot Tzaangors to replace my extra shields). So really just rolling with things at this point and playing with stuff I like. Allegiance: Tzeentch Ogroid Thaumaturge (180) Gaunt Summoner and Chaos Familiars (180) Magister (140) Tzaangor Shaman (180) Chaos Sorcerer Lord (160) 10 x Kairic Acolytes (80) 10 x Kairic Acolytes (80) 20 x Tzaangors (360) 6 x Tzaangor Skyfires (400) Mutalith Vortex Beast (200) Balewind Vortex (40) Total: 2000 / 2000 Extra Command Points: 0 Allies: 0 / 400 Wounds: 125 Its not a straight nerf. For 1 thing, a single shield now covers the whole unit, allowing you to go fully offensive the rest of the way. Also, the +1 attack now also applies to beaks, and not just hand weapons.
  5. I am guessing you mean who can take them as allies rather than who they can take as allies (which AFAIK is only StD)? Unless there is an FAQ or a reverse allies chart in the book, nobody will be able to take BoC as allies. Instead the current Brayherd, Warherd, Thunderscorn, etc keywords from the GHB will stick for that purpose. And that is probably the most likely scenario. Remember that IDK and DoK got no reverse chart when they came out, so nobody could take them as allies until GHB 2018 dropped (except Stormcast who can ally all ORDER).
  6. Yes, there are only 4 in the box, but 1 can easily be put on a prime. For the 5th you have 3 options, but a Soul Wars box and wind up with a ton of extra unusable models, convert one yourself, or buy the small 3 man snapfit box.
  7. All you have to do is put greatmace arms and a prime shoulder pad on the same model. No conversions necessary.
  8. Too bad half my Tzaangors have shields. I would have to buy, build, and paint a whole other box to replace the extras. That or start chopping.
  9. Ya, I really don't get it. At least they get access to extra rending, attacks, and ambush in BoC. And they are still more than twice as durable as Bestigors. Maybe GW thought they would be too good with their native rules, plus all the new stuff. Leaves them in an awful place for DoT though.
  10. Unfortunately, they are not (though it is a common and easy mistake to make). Take for example Ironjawz who can take grots as allies, but not the opposite. I don't know if there is a reverse chart for FW factions somewhere (as far as who can take them as allies), but that is what would be needed. Because GW is not going to list FW units or allegiances in any fashion within the GHB ally charts (which does complicate things).
  11. Not everything is "wholly within". Even the new Herdstone for beastmen prejects 2 auras, 1 wholly, and 1 simply within. Seems hit or miss with which abilities they decide on honestly. Rumor is Skyfires are going down to 200. We also know Enlightened on foot are getting a separate points value, which might possibly make them a decent option.
  12. Unfortunately, unless there is an FAQ somewhere that allows it, you would not be able to take those units as allies in a Khorne army as they lack any of the relevant keywords Khorne can take. You can make a LoA army with Khorne allies, but that would be wildly different, and probably far off the mark of what you wanted to do.
  13. And remember, Hexwraiths don't actually need to pass over and land on the other side of a unit/model for a chance at damage. You can actually move up just enough to clip a base, then move right back to where you started (other than in a retreat) if that is a more advantageous position. I have heard the suggestion that their ability should work every time they move, rather than just in the movement phase. That is probably way too good though.
  14. No because you are running an army based off the Beast of Chaos allegiance/keyword. Regard of what other keywords your units have, that is the one keyword your army is built around. Archaon lacks that keyword. Now you could make a god army (Khorne, Tzeentch, Nurgle, or Slannesh), take the relevant BoC battalion, and stick Archaon in there since he has all the god keywords.
  15. The Mumakil is ready available once more and has always been a popular conversion base for a CWM. https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-US/Mumak-War-Leader-2018
  16. Under the normal rules for AoS 2, if your battalion does not have the keyword for your army, even if all units within said battalion do, the battalion and all included units count as allies. Apparently these battalions will be given a special exception.
  17. Would not an allied Vampire Lord be a better option than a KoS/KofoES for the same points? Natively a mage, can be almost as fast/fly, brings invocation to the table, and a much better (though similar) CA.
  18. Thinking about giving this list a try tomorrow. Thoughts? Allegiance: Nighthaunt Dreadblade Harrow (100) - General - Trait: Ruler of the Spirit Hosts Knight of Shrouds on Ethereal Steed (140) - Artefact: Midnight Tome Reikenor the Grimhailer (180) Spirit Torment (120) Guardian of Souls with Nightmare Lantern (140) 20 x Chainrasp Horde (160) 20 x Grimghast Reapers (280) 5 x Hexwraiths (160) 20 x Bladegheist Revenants (320) Black Coach (280) Chronomantic Cogs (60) Aethervoid Pendulum (40) Soulsnare Shackles (20) Total: 2000 / 2000 Extra Command Points: 0 Allies: 0 / 400 Wounds: 110
  19. Invocation works exactly the same way (as do gravesites). Its heal OR resurrect, not both. And its dependent on the status of the unit when used (floating wounds mean you must heal, no floating wounds mean you can attempt to bring back dead stuff). What makes Invocation better is how plentiful it is (most Legions heroes have it), its only restriction is range (otherwise it just happens), and it can target multiple units at once depending on the character.
  20. If there is no errata, the battletome should always take precedence over the app (which also said Ironguts had 20" reach and goblins needed a 44+ to ht a few weeks ago).
  21. Thinking of giving this list a spin: Allegiance: Stormcast Eternals Lord-Arcanum on Gryph-Charger (240) - General Lord-Castellant (100) Lord-Relictor (100) Knight-Heraldor (100) Knight-Heraldor (100) 10 x Sequitors (240) - Tempest Blades and Soulshields - 5x Stormsmite Greatmaces 5 x Judicators (160) - Skybolt Bows - 1x Shockbolt Bows 5 x Judicators (160) - Skybolt Bows - 1x Shockbolt Bows 5 x Evocators (200) - 5x Grandstaves - Lore of Invigoration: None 4 x Fulminators (480) Everblaze Comet (100) Soulsnare Shackles (20) Total: 2000 / 2000 Extra Command Points: 0 Allies: 0 / 400 Wounds: 103 No idea on trait/artifacts/spells/stormhost yet. Thoughts?
  22. I think Reiknor and Cogs are really important for Nighthaunt. He makes sure that Cogs goes off, and Cogs makes our 9" charges as easy as 7 inch charges. I also like the Dreadblade Harrow as a general more than the KoS. His native teleport ability, combined with the command ability gained for being the general, I see as a very potent combo.
  23. It has the Nighthaunt keyword, so yes.
  24. There is precedence based on some of the Stormcast battalions from the previous book. Vanguard Wing (the one we all know and love) required units of Prosecutors. There was no unit simply called Prosecutors then. Its possible the tiny font subtext found on some units is meant to be just that, subtext. At least that's how Stormcast players played it for well over a year at the highest tournament levels.
