  1. My complete (for now!) Clan Moulder. Just put the finishing touches on the Hellpit. Painted the Verminlord earlier this year, and otherwise have had the rest for a while.

    Edit: typos

In moulder list I did right after the book dropped. They actually surprised me in a big unit. It’s just such a swarm. And on top of the normal bonuses the range increase for numbers means you get a lot in as well.
especially if you manage to buff them from a master moulder and even death frenzy. it’s pretty doable to get the to

    “3  range, 1 attack, 2+, 4+, -, 1 damage. Re-rolling wounds if rabid crown is near...

Quite impressive, super thematic, not at all points efficient especially outside of a clan moulder army.

all that said its been a minute since I played Skaven. But the itch is back 💪🐀

Giant Rats are great! But not super reliable. They either delete things or miss completely. Just got to pray to the Great Horned Rat!

@Nikobot @Cosmicsheep Yeah, sorry I meant to say in units of 10. Clanrats are clearly superioder otherwise.
And yeah, I think I would also favor night runners over giant rats. They are more expensive though. So I wonder, does anyone out there use giant rats?

I do! But then I run pure Moulder. Always have, and always will! They are not super reliable in combat, but when paired with a Master Moulder can put out a lot of pain. Plus they move fast and are fun 😁

@MasterMoulder @Cosmicsheep Nice idea for the Warpseer... I feel we lack some long range shooting and at least with the Warpseer we have the dreaded warpgale...

I wanted to run Stormfiends in my lists, but unfortunately they are not very good without buffs.

I generally hop the warpseer around the table through the Gnawholes. Gives it a bit more range - you can generally position it to hit whatever you want with warpgale or give his battleshock immunity bubble for the giant rats

    Anybody building Moulder lists on the new GHB2020? @Ahriman @MasterMoulder @Verminlord @basement dweller @Cosmicsheep @Orphen1991 @wakadaka

Also @Gwendar do you think that there is no hope for magic anymore? I've got a Balewind Vortex sitting around and enjoyed the times where I threw 6 spells a turn 😢

    My plan is to run:

Verminlord Warpseer (320) w/Master of Magic

Master Moulder (100) w/ Rabid Crown

    Master Moulder (100)

    Master Moulder (100)

    Hellpit Abomination (220)

    8x Rat Ogors (360)

    40x Giant Rats (200)

    40x Giant Rats (200)

    40x Giant Rats (200)

    40x Giant Rats (200)

    2000/2000 exactly!

It will be a while before I can get them to the table unfortunately, as my local club is still in lockdown. Not too different to what I have run in the past, but has an extra Master Moulder

  6. My plan is to play my Eldritch Council as Freeguild.

    Swordmasters = Greatswords

    Loremaster = Freeguild General

    Archmage = Battlemage

All wargear options match up, and they play similar to EC by looking at the warscrolls. Dark evles could work, but I like the rules for the greatswords and battlemages more.

Still reasonably WYSIWYG, so hopefully shouldn't be an issue with people.

    Soooo excited!

Only question is WHAT will move to legacy units. Id love to say nothing plastic but, you know... Thoughts?

If the skaven book is anything to go by, the models that you can't buy any more. So looking at the Reavers, Spireguard, and Griffon aelf dude from spire of dawn? Swordmasters should (I hope) be safe due to still having finecast models.

  8. Has anyone had success using Rat Swarms? I have been struggling to get them to do anything useful. For a Moulder army, Giant Rats seem to be a better tarpit (and can hit back reliably), while Rat Ogors are almost as resiliant while bringing a lot more pain for approximately same points size units.

Just want to dubblecheck if I understand things correctly.

If I want a spellcaster in a otherwise pure Clan Moulder Army, it needs to be a Masterclan General (Grey Seer, Screaming Bell or masterclan Verminlord) and then only the one, otherwise I need to include Clanrats for my battleline?

    /Cheers Rangeltoft

That is correct. Thanquol also works.

You guys do realise that a lot of warscrolls still have Skaven on them, including Clan Rats.

There's a few that oddly down such as giant rats ,which only list skaventide; but otherwise most skaven general units (troops) do have the skaven keyword.

I believe units like Giant Rats do not have the  "Skaven" keyword because they are not a part of the sentient rat race, but arw in fact just rats. They still have Skaventide as the Skaven use them in war, but are themselves not Skaven.

After a few games trying out Master Moulders and Packmasters, I agree there is little use in the Packmasters for my Moulder army - unless you can't spare the 40pts.

The main reason is their prized creation rule, getting to add D3 wounds to a rat ogos or HPA is cool, but the reroll 1s is deadly.

And they do have a slightly extended aura, but I've got 3 Master Moulders around the board, so things are almost always covered.

Good to know. Kinda forgot about Prized Creations while list building haha. Nice to see some other Moulder players out there! I am trying to think of a viable list that uses all 160 of my giant rats. They still seem decent, just not as brutal as they used to be. With Prized Creations and the healing by the Master Moulders the Rat Ogors seem a bit more reliable

You kinda get a few from various kits (kinda like Ripperswarms from 40k Tyranids).

If I remember right, you get a few from:

    Doomwheel

    Plague Monks

    Rat Ogors

    Screaming Bell/ Plague Censor?

None in the Screaming Bell kit. I think you get a few in the Verminlord and Thanquol kits though

Anyone know a good source of giant rats?🐀

If you have a local pestilens player ask them, they will likely have a pile of the base ornament rats left over from the plague monk kits. They are a little bit smaller than the official giant rats, but it is all GW so usually not an issue!

  14. Allegiance: Skaventide

    Leaders
    Verminlord Warpseer (260)
    - General
    - Trait: Supreme Manipulator
    - Artefact: Suspicious Stone
    Master Moulder (100)
    - Artefact: Rabid Crown

    Battleline
    40 x Giant Rats (200)
    40 x Giant Rats (200)
    4 x Rat Ogors (200)
    4 x Rat Ogors (200)

    Units
    6 x Rat Swarms (180)
    6 x Rat Swarms (180)
    3 x Packmasters (60)

    Behemoths
    Hell Pit Abomination (220)

    Battalions
    Fleshmeld Menagerie (160)

    Endless Spells
    Bell of Doom (40)

    Total: 2000 / 2000
    Extra Command Points: 1
    Allies: 0 / 400
    Wounds: 195

Thoughts? I feel like I might be a bit light on leaders

MM 100 vs PM 60 points, PM 6 wounds vs MM 5,  PM three 12in buff bubbles vs MM 1

edit: also you can only use MM command ability one time per phase, so not too much incentive to run multiple unless you want a 100pt backup

Fair enough. You would only be getting a few extra inches to the buff bubble but I guess every little bit helps. Not to worried about the extra wound since the MM has a better save. The backup seems critical since you don't want your MM sniped and lose the ability to revive pack units

  16. So what are everyone's opinions on Packmasters vs Master Moulders? Personally I can't see why I would take Packmasters over a Master Moulder. They have better attacks, benefit from the Skaventide hero abilities, are easier to screen, heal your ogors/ rat swarms and have a handy command ability that you want multiple copies of as a back up. Sure, they are 100pts compared to 60pts. Has anyone had a chance to play them yet? Preferably on a Moulder list?
