  1. Thanks @michu and @Still-young, i guess i missed the source! Ok i think we all have reason to be fairly excited for the rest of the year. Its worth noting that GW have done two dual battletome releases in the last year, SE/NH FEC/Rats, so thats a potential option for them, especially if there are more battleboxes coming!
  2. But who said it? If it was Ben Johnson or someone from the AoS studio in an AoS preview session then fair enough, if it was the guy who moderates the facebook page or runs one of the stores then thats about as reliable as me guessing whats coming next 😁
  3. Weve all seen the faq where it says you can place faction terrain models as unique terrain picks but they dont use the warscroll and instead just generate a random rule instead right? Im pretty sure only Awakened Wyldwoods placed as part of allegiance abilities or unit abilities will use the rules for Awakened Wyldwoods, any other trees would just be Wyldwoods from ghb18. Am i missing something?
  4. Re: expectations of new battletomes, id be wary of believing there will be 4 more battletomes this year. Ive followed the rumours as closely as anyone and never seen a named source for this - it feels to me like rumour reverb. This time last year we had stormies and nighthaunt aroumd now, then a complete surprise with beasts of chaos in september. Tje year before we had nothing after kharadrons in may. The year before was sylvaneth, beastclaws and bonesplitterz in august then nothing til tzeentch in january. I think GW use the back end of the year to work on the battletomes for the front end of the following year, with a few exceptions, giving players around 6 months with the meta established by the latest GHB. Happy to be proved wrong, but thats what i think the past few years indicate!
  5. If i recall correctly GW used to do a line wide price rise pretty much annually up until Rowntree took over. For the last five years prices have increased on new releases but have otherwise not been adjusted. With no new edition of 40k or AoS in 2019 I think it makes sense to do a general price increase now to drive their continued growth. Its a pretty sound strategy as it reduces the wailing and gnashing of teeth to once every few years instead of annually. I remember when the plastic Bloodthirster was released during the End Times for 70 quid, when my metal one cost me 25 quid back in the day. That was enough to stop me buying anything for about 6 months, until they tempted me back with the free rules for AoS when it was first released. Since then ive set a monthly hobby budget that goes up only when i get a pay rise, regardless of what GW does with its prices. And to be fair i spend more on beer than on Warhammer so i cant really begrudge the business for fulfilling its responsibility to its owners, the shareholders.
  6. I prefer to play fully painted armies, whenever i use unpainted models they tend to die horribly and demotivate me from painting them!
  7. The new terrain looks lovely, it will fit in well with all the TT Combat Venice stuff ive been buying this year to create a nice Free City (and get some use out of the garrison rules for intact buildings!)
  8. It looks like shadowspear up for pre order next sat, then maybe khorne AoS the week after. Im not convinced theyll drop Black Legion and a bunch of new kits at the same time as a heavily discounted box set, and even dropping Abaddon separately would be precedented by Calgar and co being released outside of a codex release. So im expecting khorne BT in my grubby mitts by 23rd march, or 30th at the latest!
  9. GW has been publically traded since 1994! This https://investor.games-workshop.com/our-history/ gives a good overview of what GW themselves say their priorities are. "Playing" and "rulebooks" are mentioned but only after collecting, modelling and painting. I think selling models is absolutely GWs top priority, and having rules to play games with them is very much a secondary consideration. Same with the lore, its just their to create some emotional resonance with the models, and with AoS theyre going whole hog by advancing the narrative in tandem with the release schedule. An interesting approach, but seems to be working for them!
  10. Um, sorry for spoilers if thats the case, consider them to be Tzeentchian misdirection!!
  11. It was Kairos Fateweaver, as shown in Quest for Ghal Maraz. The news didn't help him as he still got hammered by Vandus and Thostos 😁 Thats not to say there arent other interested parties though!
  12. What are we expecting from this updated Khorne book? GW have indicated they will make playing pure daemons of khorne or bloodbound more feasible. Im gonna guess the bloodsecrator is gonna get the wholly within treatment and maybe even be limited to khorne mortals only. Theres also an opportunity to completely review the warscrolls as we've seen with skaven and gloomspite, so id expect buffs galore to all those 4+ abbilities and rendless attacks. Simplifying the battalions will be nice too. Also i wonder if there will be free terrain, or if those not endless spells will fill that role?
  13. I believe Brets and Tomb Kings were usable at launch, the ranges werent discontinued until the following year when the Order and Death GA books were released and loads of stuff went on Last Chance to Buy. The way GW have kind of surreptitiously removed Gitmob and common trolls, then the weird way they discontinued Greenskins has started some alarm bells ringing. What could be next for the chop!?
  14. So the Stormvault is a boardgame eh, phew! Ive not yet even finished the Sacrosanct guys from Soul Wars so the thought of another chamber being released was making me antsy!
  15. Well the last three years have had no battletomes in the last 4 months of the year, and last year saw 7 books released so with gitz out id expect only 5 or 6 more. GW are pretty good at doing the unexpected tho so heres hoping for more!

  17. Crikey all those things on last chance to buy is a bit of a worrying trend, on top of the confusing disappearance of greenskins, which are still advertised in this months white dwarf!
  18. I like that theyre bringing back the odd old world character here and creating tons of new ones as well - to me the whole point of AoS is that gw and the players can do whatever they want and not be confined by the stagnant narrative of 2520 IC! Anyway, who else is excited that Karanak now gets 2 attacks per head rather than just 2 attacks!? Im more excited for Wrath n Rapture than for Xmas! 😁
  19. Im sure i saw a collection of Undying King and Neferata scheduled for sometime next year but cant find it now, can anyone confirm?
  20. Really good overview thank you! Ive grabbed the Hammerhal, Legends and Realmgate Wars omnibuses and they are superb value for money!
  21. The choice of factions for the battalions are a bit underwhelming, but this may be a blessing in disguise as i will definitely be picking up wrath n rapture and those terrain bundles look too good to pass up...! I still regret not getting the ironjaws and sigmarine boxes from 2 years ago, they were ludicrously good!
  22. Sold! I converted my azyrite ruins to be 2 storey anyway, but you can never have enough terrain ?
  23. I wish they made more units available across multiple armies (not just as allies). The way Slaves to Darkness can be used on their own or to bulk out God specific allegiances is really flexible. Making beastmen part of Darkoath and still playable as Brayherd couldnt hurt!
  24. Is Balthus an Anvil of the Heldenhammer? Theyre all supposed to be souls from the World that Was nicked from one of the Shyish underworlds i believe. In theory Karl Franzs soul could have been acquired from there too!
  25. Id be amazed if all those factions got boosted with new releases... but I didnt believe GW would fully replace their starting range with more Sigmarines vs Ghosts and here we are! Im ready to be amazed again! Im half expecting them to spam release updated battletomes for all the existing battletome factions like theyve done with 40k, so heres hoping new models might fit into that!!
