Sounds like dragons have 4 attacks each with dmg 2 and there is a normal guy and a prime with 3 attacks and 4 for the prime, probably dmg 1 and rend 0-1, then +1 dmg and +1-2 rend on the charge I'd guess. Decent enough, depends on the breath as well. Question then is if they are monsters or not.
  2. Happy to finally see the tomes, but the initial mini lineup sure leaves much to be desired, oh well, did not expect anything this week, so at least getting the rules out there is going to be nice

I guess those armies should get a buff then, tripple cabbage is terrible, no mount trait or artifacts for all of them drastically reduces the value, see how anyone with a bit of screening and firepower would tear that apart. 4+ base saves will drastically reduce their use in the current meta, no matter how much they improve their baseline damage. Only way I would reconsider is if they get a built in 5+ ward like stonehorns, otherwise the MK is so so much worse than a Stonehorn with the new rules, especially if running multiples.

Now say that about football teams People enjoy different things after all, somewhere millions are exchanged just for one football player, while at the same time some are happily playing in their yard. Thing is the competitive setting will be more in the spotlight and when played to the max, it also multiplies the impact of any otherwise minor issue. GW are extremely slow to respond to any concerns, while also trying to sell and push as many rulebooks they can. They talk about events and the meta, yet does the absolute minimum, or less, to support it. But at this point it would not surprise me if GW begins blaming slow internal emails on "the global situation", as to why they can't just FAQ their FAQ so TOs everywhere does not have to comp this for all kinds of upcoming events.

The whole point is that a 3+ can be increased to a 2+ a 4+ can only become a 3+, the difference here is before you would then only suffer dmg on 1/6 attacks, but with a 3+ cap that is 1/3, which is a massive difference in staying power and makes him go down much much easer to low rend units. I think we might be looking at a meta that is either mortal wounds or massed attack spam, as it is easy to negate 1-2 rend anyway. Also why, just why is Gordrakk so bad still, he sure needs some good special rules because a -1 to save will not get him chosen more often, but I guess it can not be less than the 0 times he is used already. And why does he only have 8 bravery, the dude basically sieged Excelsis alone, if anything he should be completely immune to any bravery related shenanigans.
  6. Option 2 is the hackas and 3 is the gore choppa. Basically both got 1 better rend than before. Standard 2 choppas is the same. Due to the coherency rules the hackas are far superior. If Ard boys do not get rend 2 on anything, that for sure brings the Brutes forward with a clear purpose to smash heavy armor.
  7. Almost like that, AoS right now has no place for those combat heroes on foot, they are overprized and pointless most of the time. Megaboss on foot, Kruleboy boss on foot, who are going to use these for any serious games? Then for warhammer+ another megaboss on foot, yet nobody uses the already great model out there. So yea, ironically it is getting close to that, but only because combat heroes on foot got no place in the game, while there is a desperate need for updates for other Orruk models. Fun at parties, I know
  8. That would be a first time they sneak in an underworld model into promotional material for an AoS army wouldn't it? I have my doubts about this at least, but of course can not deny it is possible.
  9. If only there was some kind of way, perhaps an app of some kind, where rules could be updated on the fly. Of course this would not be entirely free, perhaps some kind of subscription service, surely people would be ok with that... Nah just release it in paper format from a country that can't buy or ship paper or cardboard apparently, that will also be great to carry around with your tome, 300 page rulebook, rulers, terrain, small dog and umbrella.
  10. In general this tires into how inconsistent StD are with their allegiance abilities. Only some non named characters, and not all of them, got eye of the gods, most of these are entirely too feeble to actually achieve killing another hero or monster... Also the marks are incredibly inconsistent and they just plastered warcry units and other stuff in there, which does not tie into the allegiance abilities at all. Like why is the darkoath chieftain unable to take a mark of chaos while marauders are able to??? it makes no sense! Will probably be disappointed in the WD update, but eh, still interested in seeing whatever they come up with, I really dislike the entre wholly within 12" aura system, it would be lovely to see something else.
  11. Odd they are doing a larger battletome update like this in a WD, guess they are on the clock making stuff AoS 3.0 compliant. 6 pages of rules with new allegiance abilities and core battalions. "An official tournament-legal update to Battletome: Slaves to Darkness".

So I got a special event coming up in the start of October, was locked into Stormcast a long time ago betting on a new book and making some dragons and such, but this seems a bust now so gotta make due with a sub par book. The event is rather special, got some special rules but most importantly: 1350 pts list. No uniques/named heroes, no artifacts, traits and host abilities are allowed though. Saves are capped at 3+ (big oof). Factions with no terrain feature can make their own piece and it can be arcane or mystical (this one is important). So if the book is released the week before it will not be FAQd and allowed, so we got to use the old book with the very balanced and super correct FAQ we got right now! So that is exactly what I will do (and also make a point I guess). I will focus on what I got, which is a Drakesworn Templar and 4 concussors at the core, super elite and expensive, but not going to buy any more stuff before the new models come out, which was the plan originally... So I thought to myself to use the expertly written FAQ we got, which changed the translocation prayer to this: Page 123 – Prayers of the Stormhosts, Translocation Change the rule to: ‘Translocation is a prayer that has an answer value of 3 and a range of 9". If answered, pick 1 friendly Stormcast Eternals unit wholly within range and visible to the chanter. You can remove that unit from the battlefield and set it up again anywhere on the battlefield more than 9" from all enemy units.’ So this changes the entire rules for it, meaning no more pesky "it may not move in the subsequent movement phase" nonsense there was before. So my plan here is to make this list: Allegiance: Stormcast Eternals- Stormhost: Knights ExcelsiorDrakesworn Templar (450)- Tempest AxeLord-Relictor (110)Knight-Incantor (130)5 x Liberators (95)- Warhammer & Shield5 x Liberators (95)- Warhammer & Shield4 x Concussors (470)- Reinforced x 1 This way I can use the relictor to teleport the 4 concussors on a 2+, they can then move and wreck something as they please, possibly with +1 to hit with both shooting and combat thanks to the drakesworn (using all out attack on his bow might be a good idea for that hit). Incantor can either mystic shield the dragon when that moves up the board, or begin doing lightning blast, he is also there to run after the concussors for command abilities (WHY did they not get ELITE!?). Heal+healing storm can hopefully keep the elite units going long enough. Knights Excelsior is mostly due to the format, thinking that +1 dmg on the Drakesworn helps him with other heroes and monsters, as the Stardrake sucks against those, with bites and tail doing nothing. I also considered running anvils, as getting that extra fight in the hero phase might make all the difference at some point, but the rest are dirt poor traits. With excelsior if that alpha wipes a unit, having reroll 1s to hit the rest of the game is sweet. My first list was with only the Drakesworn, then 4 concussors 10 vindictors and 5 judicators, to have those 10 vindictors as a hybrid hammer and anvil, but I also really need heroes and 1 x auto unbind, prayers and magic added is super handy, not to mention babysittiers for the concussors...
  14. As expected, these will probably go on for 2 weeks, so AoS tomes up for preorder at 18th at the earliest, so the expected last second preorder at the 25th seems very probable.
  15. In the olden days the articles really first picked up the week before preorder, so after it was already announced for preorder the following week. It is just these AoS tomes that has been teased for months on end now. I expect at best they do the worst they promised last, which is September preorder as late as possible, so 25th. At this point I will not be surprised at all they end up saying "before christmas" and purging everything else mentioning the previous date in older articles. They have picked up more steam for Black Templars now, so the delays probably make it so they fit in Black Templars in the end and further delay AoS stuff.
  16. Yea stomper is mostly for the artifact, and even then getting 3 single mancrushers out with an auto 6 run from the get go can be useful. The Stomper hurts for not having the ability to use any commands on himself though, a big negative, which is why he sort of needs another mega in the area, so that is why I was thinking a Kraken Eater to support the other 2, not really focusing much on the little guys, although even 1 of them CAN mess up a horde if you end up running into an opponent with skaven, massed zombies etc. Mostly it is for the cestus though, it almost doubles the staying power of one of your megas, and the army is all about the staying power.
  17. I like that there is no longer any awkward terrain measuring going on, however it no longer works for charges as it did before, so it is a give and take kind of deal, although more clear at least. And yea 2 artifacts is a no go (Unless you are a kraken eater in taker tribe :P)
  18. It is nice not to deal with that, it does come at a cost compared to before, that it is now normal move, run and retreat, before it was just "a move" so charges are not included anymore, while before you could potentially charge over things like a flyer can.
  19. It is a great great artifact and with less hordes, taker tribes loses a bit of value. I am now thinking perhaps a stomper tribe with 1 of each mega and 3 single man crushers got some play. Cestus and 3d6 charge on stomper and amulet on breaker. For 1 CP you can auto run all 3 single mancrushers into good positions turn 1.the little guys can also assist in clearing any potential hordes much more easily. 3d6 charge is good against the many khorne demon princes popping up lately and with Cestus and amulet there are 2 super tank gargants.
  20. The Warshrine was FAQd to provide a 6+ ward. The Undivided general aura was not FAQ,d so that now stacks with a ward. Chaos shields ignoring mortal wounds now again stacks with all of this, so for example a chaos warrior with sheild taking 1 mortal wound from an arcane bolt, would get 6+ ward from shrine. 5+ for chaos shield, 6+to ignore from chaos undivided aura potentially.

But abilities like deathless minions for death armies is when you allocate, so a Vampire lord on ZD with amulet of destiny would then have 5+ ward, then 6+ deathless for example, which is a big deal for any books with this wording that is clearly meant to be wards, but are not right now. This goes for DoK and their 6+ and also StD with undivided marks, as those 6s to ignore allocated wounds now take place after wards

  23. I guess it is pointless with the book being supposed to be out, but Dracothian Guards should really have the "ELITE" rule
  24. That he lost the ability that forces rerolls of 6s to hit against him will be a HUGE deal in competitive lists, he suddenly takes full damage from all the exploding and MW 6s to hit abilities, which was a saving grace for his survivability.
