  1. With Broken Realms Belakor on the way, what are peoples guesses on where he fits in? It looks like he is with demons again and the dead warrior on his base, might indicate him leading a demon force against Archaons mortals. If that is the case I fear we wont get to play with him in StD and he is more part of the Legion of Chaos Ascendant. If nothing else we get a new model I guess, but even with a new warscroll that might not be for the StD book.
  2. He will have awesome rules like how everyone loves to bring mega gargant mercenaries, he will of course also be a merc so obviously gotta cost 1 CP, but for that you get a completely regular non flying vampire lord on foot on an awkward base with the added bonus of the special ability "high frequency screeching" which provides a -1 to hit to beast keyword models within 6", if he has taken of wound from a beast keyword model in the same phase. Brilliant and in line with the awesome warcry warband rules, besides those useless khainite stalkers.
  3. Trying to rekindle my fun with Bonereapers is proving really hard due to the points costs and the mandatory huge battleline requirements and minimum hero amount to have any RDP to work with. This leave so little wiggleroom to do anything interesting. I am looking at Immortis guard, which I find super cool, but they are really hard to justify, especially if trying to make some Aegis immortal lists for example: Allegiance: Ossiarch Bonereapers- Legion: Petrifex EliteLiege-Kavalos (200)- General- Command Trait: Mighty Archaeossian- Artefact: Helm of the OrdainedMortisan Boneshaper (130)- Artefact: Godbone Armour- Lore of Mortisans: Drain VitalityMortisan Soulmason (140)- Lore of Mortisans: Arcane Command20 x Mortek Guard (260)- Nadirite Blade and Shield20 x Mortek Guard (260)- Nadirite Blade and Shield5 x Kavalos Deathriders (180)- Nadirite Blade and Shield6 x Immortis Guard (360)3 x Immortis Guard (180)2 x Morghast Archai (190)- Spirit HalberdsAegis Immortal (80)Total: 1980 / 2000Extra Command Points: 1Allies: 0 / 400Wounds: 121 I guess it would be playable in a casual game and be quite effective against melee armies, however the Aegis requiring 2 immortis guard and 1 morghast seems too much. not much for them to protect anyway! I like the idea of the 6 immortis guard, perhaps they could be good in a different list, with +1 attack command, they can dish out hurt and take it... maybe a Katakros list with a unit of 6 to get them +1 save and hit. The problem is the battleline requirements again, where Mortek guard is usually the answer and they do the same job as immortis guard, being a tanky anvil but with a decent punch. Any ideas for decent lists showing some love to the less used elites? The Harvesters and Crawlers always get the spotlight, but what about Stalkers, Immortis and Morghasts?
  4. I prefer concussors in units of 4, unit activation is so important and 2 will not really kill anything and open yourself up to a counter attack, 4 actually stands a chance of devastating a unit or monster completely. It also makes them a good alternative target for the +1 save from a castellant and increases the chance of landing those 6s to hit, which disables enemy unit pile-in, I can say from experience that is a BIG deal, in addition to giving them reroll 1s to hit. Using a list with a stardrake celestant, kroak, prime and 4 concussors as the main pieces I have done quite well in tournaments and tabled everything from eel spam to hearthguard fyreslayer spam lists. The drake gets the plate of perfect protection and staunch, so if not charging it will have a 2+ reroll 1s save against anything but rend 2 or more. This opens up more to give the dracoths the +1 lantern save, making them super terrifying, stand these 2 units together and they are invulnerable if not charging to anything but the highest rend and ofc mortal wound spam.
  5. Even then the boneshapers healing seem more efficient and overall the 140 pts for the soulmason is a far better value for casting, 2+ casts and 2 unbinds. Perhaps this new warband guy will be a more interesting soul reaper, the warscroll spell certainly can't get worse, however they could also do as the chaos warband and just have no warscroll spell and be worse in every way
  6. Ah the Soul Reaper, I got one in a box for over a year now, never bothered putting it together...
  7. This is one of the most competitive builds for OBR in my book right now. Arkhan is great for the points and less fragile thanks to Katakros. Between the two of them, they can heal each other up to 6 wounds if needed and besides 1st turn alpha strike snipes "cough KO cough" then he can always stand back and even protection of Nagash as needed. Getting +1 to hit also makes Arkhan no joke in combat if the heehoo hits the fan. The real power is the overlapping healing, getting up to 6 mortek back is just demoralizing. To ensure maximum advantage of RDP, healing and staying power, I would not recommend 2 msu units of kavalos, instead either go 10 man unit or replace 5 of them with either: A harvester to really double down on the healing part, they also hit hard and all around solid Another crawler, to make your ranged output a real threat That would be my take, there really is only around 200 pts of wiggleroom here, but I think that choice really matters.
  8. I think that just refers to the chariot guy you could build like that. They made the rules terrible to account for nobody wanting to buy a chariot just to build that guy
  9. Regardless it is going to take a looong time to get this new warband shipped, as stores around here warns that orders might take around 3 weeks to ship due to Brexit
  10. Aw well I did not expect much yet still let down somehow. The latest DoK warband was really good, while the Ironjawz one was about the same tier as this StD warscroll, which is in the totally pointless and not even "just for fun" category. They are even locked to Ravagers and also undivided. Oh well they can join all the cultist warscrolls to add to the record of the faction with the most useless warscrolls. They are at least simply "plain" not like the Iron Golems Ogor with 1 single 4+/4+ attack I will get this warband though, as I got the 10 SC chaos warriors, I can replace a couple of older warriors in my 15 man unit and use the sorceror as well, or might even use the updated "slambo" as a chaos lord on foot too, as they are just all great models, even if Khagra herself is the most boring one, mostly because she seems like the start collect unit champion with a womans head.
  11. It was pretty clever and funny joke, even if passive aggressive, but far from rude or uncalled for either, I think the multi million company will survive this facebook post Speaking of data they also posted a nice metawatch article for 40k about all their new FAQs and point changes. I guess AoS wont see that I would love to see a similar breakdown for AoS though, where the go first or second seems a far more mixed bag than 40k, even if going second was best for all non alpha strikers, especially with the risk of the double turn.
  12. Destruction players sitting and surely crying their eyes out on behalf of all the aelf players getting too much new stuff so they get overwhelmed
  13. So the FAQ was only for a couple of books, I guess they should be done by now, so most battletomes got nothing this time around.
  14. If they do not change this in the S2D FAQ they must be out of their minds, but I expect that will unfortunately be the case. The cultists, Warqueen and Darkoath Chieftain should have marks of chaos to match the rest of the book, heck everything in the book should have a mark, all the pitiful warcry warscrolls as well. They posted a metawatch article not long ago showing how KO just blasts all other armies apart followed by Tzeentch by a completely bonkers margin, and then change nothing at all in the big FAQ. That is absolute dogs--- Nope nothing can be concluded from this limited dataset at all.
  15. Seems kind of crazy Lumineth are getting more new units than they already have and will get that in an expansion, it is what it is I guess. Also very worried for the health of the meta, as Lumineth is already rather oppressive with sentinels and getting ballistas and super archer characters seems that might bring it way over the top. It wont bother many, but I worry seeing this in tournaments in the future. I do like the look of the greatsword guys, swordmasters was the coolest thing for high elves, possibly next to white lions. No Gravelords was a bit disappointing, but there was already so much crammed in there, we can look forward to them later on and the Warhammer quest seems super cool. Starting to get a bit numb to all those warbands, it seems they reveal so many, yet the releases get further and further away. LoN players will also be happy to get some new vampires on foot, especially the winged guy, hopefully the gravelords can make good use of them. If the warbands is any indication for a new army for death, that looks like it will be very hard to resist, the quality is top notch, far better than the first leaked vamp with the bat hair.
  16. I don't know if it would make me get a Lumineth army, the mounted arhcers got the cow hat syndrome with super big hats as well. I will give points for that AoS creativity they got going on. We have not seen these creatures before and they make them work pretty well I think. They sort of mirror the new mounted Slaanesh archers in similar 2 legged mounts. Lumineth players will for sure be happy to get the mounted combat hero and it looks rather nice too, while still being very unique and not just a big golden horse or something, he is in my opinion one of the best models for the faction, if not the best period. I am more exited to see the new death reveals, the vampire shown is not blowing me away, but I look forward to the potential rest of the line
  17. A bit disappointed with the Seraphon, the charmeleon we already saw is still the best part and it is not even a Saurus but an old blood, which I do not think is as cool as the one we got from the Carno kit. The skins are just... Skinks, never been a fan of them much and these do not turn any heads. Also I had really hoped to see a kroxigors. Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment
  18. I should be numb to this by now, but darn it still hurts
  19. The lumineth are strange, many wanted the "high elves of old" to return, many got excited by the pointy aelves teasers, then they were released and the very people the hype and marketing catered to, did en masse not really like, or outright disliked, a "large" portion of the small release. It seems a majority finds the Eltharion and the dawnriders to be the best part of the release, followed by the wardens and Cathelar and sentinels. The mountain cow part really divides the waters though and turned many people off, including people I know in my gaming area, who were hyped and completely quit on them after seeing what was supposed to be the elite infantry and behemoth. They wanted "white lions 2.0" or "swordmasters 2.0" instead they got strange hammer aelves with pinatas on their heads. They wanted sleet dragons, eagles and chariots, yet got a big ol Bojack Cowman. In my local stores and most used webshops getting the bonereapers was somewhat hard and things got sold out fast, yet the lumineth just sat there, plenty in stock long after release and still are. I think the major problem was they either went too far or not far enough, attracting neither the old guard nor the new AoS fans who enjoy the more crazy armies. Perhaps going with an even stronger theme would have helped the lumineth, perhaps we will see it in a wave 2 with cloud surfers and camel riders. Putting more distance to the old high elves will at least reduce the comparisons to them over time.
  20. Pretty safe to assume all of this is just random warbands, like the kurnothi, letting you think about would could have been, but isn't and hurt any AoS player more than if they did not exist at all
  21. I very much doubt GW will make the old world in a different scale. Using models between systems is surely a revenue stream they do not want to lose. But really, nobody heard a single thing about the FAQs? Jeez!
  22. GW being rubbish at keywords is surely a major factor here, so much it boggles the mind at times. Big offenders of my own armies are Slaves to Darkness, where many warscrolls do not even have essential keywords to benefit from the only allegiance abilities in the book, which are marks of chaos on basically any warcry models and also the Darkoath heroes (who buffs marauders but marauders got marks, which the heroes cant help them with doh!). Silly choices that just makes some warscrolls dead on arrival in a competitive scene. Also books like Orruk Warclans could have been a perfect mix, but all the spells in the lores of Ironjawz and Bonesplitterz are keyword specific, leaving little room for creative builds in the big Waagh as there is no interplay or synergy between the IJ and BS. Gloomspite also suffer from this, and is why we see these white dwarf allegiances pop up for spiders, troggoths and squigs, they got no good reason to mix beween each other at all, no synergy. Cities is also really hampered by this, instead of being the races coming together in a city, instead we get heroes who only benefit their own specific keyword units, which makes it a book with tiny forces instead, like phoenixes + guard, freeguild only stuff, or greywater + artellery, even the city allegiances also cater more to specific sub factions, making the book way more limited than it had to be. This is why we see the top lists often being razor focused due to GW dictating very specific synergies from keywords.
  23. If we end up seeing 2 units of 30 archers like the lumineth, it will be hard to be all that mad thinking about the torture of painting up 60 of such detailed models (if they look half decent at least) The best way to handle rumors these days as an AoS player seem to be to assume everything is a warband or some sneaky 40k trick. As a seraphon player the teasers that ended up being a Salamander character cloak and the Zoat really stung. I am looking a bit more forward to the next broken realms though, as it seemed to be a given to be Slaanesh, but they are doing an all new tome for that soon, so that leaves this next broken realms a big question mark. Destruction are making a move for sure, but that might not be the next book, it sounds like that storyline is being set up as the climax possibly.
  24. On point comment for someone with Teclis as Avatar, don't want to share the spotlight? 😏 But I would like to see some Faqs as well, or at least some kind of statement of what is going on with them
  25. Toxic archers and probably battleline got me worried about even more Mortal Wound dealing archers, that is not what the game needs
