The Ogor-Tower is fine. If the Ogor stands still (big tower shield to lean on) the guy on the top shoots. if the Ogor fights the guy on the top cowers into his crow‘s nest, holding on tightly. I am rather certain that’s how it’s supposed to work. No magic required. It’s a mobile hunter stand

How does the -1dmg work with mortal wounds? assuming a Warplightning cannon achieves 6 MWs against a coalesced unit of Saurus Warriors. it it -1dmg ==> 5 MWs?

Agreed. Starborn are quite a bit more powerful than coalesced at the moment. We'll see what the future holds.

Let’s hope they dial down the shooting MWs nonsense and add actual interesting rules to the faction (that don’t make everything do mortal wounds) Reason: Eating 80 MWs per shooting phase is healthy for the game.

Personally: A focus on narrative play / casual play instead of competitive play In my experience round about 50% of the competitive community / tournament community are toxic or simply unpleasant blokes. It’s been thrice already I’ve stopped playing AoS for months after having to play against such blokes. This is simply my experience and this might not be true for the big Events like LVO etc.
