  1. I ran a Bloodtoof today but all I can say is that the results were.... I would like to do further testing. I played a game in the morning with my Khorne, then after that game no one else had an army so someone was like, “I’ll play your Khorne army” so I test my Ironjawz. However they had never played AoS before, only 40k, and despite me giving them my best advice and tips for running my Khorne army it wasn’t their strategy, their army, their list so it just wasn’t super useful for really seeing my IJ list potential... but I got to see glimmers. I can see how the +2 movement and +4 charge is amazing. I planned for going second because I knew he would drop before me which worked to my benefit... Overall I think it can be done either way and is probably a rock solid list - but other armies and more experienced players will give me more information. I still have some thoughts on my anecdotal evidence after several games: Ardboys are pretty amazing. For 160 points they’re tough as nails, even just 10 of them. They’re great for covering a large area with just their bodies, for denial, tarpitting or just holding objectives. On the other hand unlike, say blood warriors or Bloodreavers they’re not dog ****** in a fight. They can actually put a hurt on someone. Every game I’ve had I’ve never been like “man I wish I had brought something else.” Brutes - these guys are just rock solid. Reliable. Hardcore. Tons of damage. I love them. Against enemies of multiple wounds they wreck, especially when Frenzied to Violence. Against lower wound enemies the re-roll 1 to hit aura from the Megaboss is clutch, so they can double time as Horde clearing or monster/hero hunting. These guys are just the lynchpin and the work horse for my army. Speaking of the Megaboss on foot - I don’t know. His Rip-tooth sucks, and to make it any good you need to put like 2 Warchanter buffs on him. His Choppa isn’t bad and when he kills enemies heroes it’s good. His re-roll to hit aura for brutes has been clutch.... however he just feels really swingy. Feast or famine - he either wrecks hard or just sucks. He’s also slow and basically has to play tag-along with the brutes. I love this model so I keep bringing him but I don’t feel like he’s an autoinclude for me. Weirdknob Shaman/Fungoid Cave Shaman - I think I’m doing it wrong but this is the first game I’ve ever played with Endless spells and this feels like the first time I’ve ever had a useful wizard. Ever. And it’s because he used the endless spell. Green Puke just sucks, I just feel like their offensive output is trash and they’re slow and have garbage range. Again it’s probably a me thing but every time I bring one he’s just there on the board and he never does anything. I don’t like these but I keep taking them because dispell I guess. Gore-Gruntas - another unit I’m iffy on. Swingy for me again. Some games they just get shot off the board or wrecked before they can even charge, but that’s probably a me thing, bad positioning, or target priority, but then other games they get stuck in and they’re never Killy - not really - but they just last forever. They’re either paper towels or tanks and it’s either/or. I’m never amazed with their offensive output and I continue to struggle with what their purpose or role in Ironjawz is aside from “goes fast”. Their boars are garbage so really it’s the riders and they’re like worse than Ardboys somehow lol. The best thing I’ve found for them is to just run into enemy shooters to tie them up and... mildly injure/annoy them until the rest of my army gets there. Unless their shooters are protected by several screens of units. Then it’s just like “hey we got here first, didn’t do much... maybe lasted awhile maybe instantly died.” Ok? I guess... MBMK is just wonderful. He’s my favorite thing in AoS out of everything and always rules. He can do no wrong in my eyes. Warchanters are auto include for me. They make anything they touch automatically better and they’re just super silly to fight with in combat. It’s even funnier with they beat someone to death with their drumsticks... and they’re not particularly... TERRIBLE in melee haha.
  2. Chaos Chosen are good? Bloodletters are hideous I will never use them. Khorgorath is quickly becoming a pet model. Today I played Dispossesed and I tested out a list with Brass Stampede + Skulltake Battalion. My favorite part of the Skullreapers in this Battalion is that they kill stuff - SO HARD (5 of them killed 17 out of 20 Dwarves with crossbows) that they typically, in my experience, quickly gain double the kills of their model count. What this means is that with a few support buffs to “get started” they quickly become re-roll self sufficient anyway. However the Bloodstoker re-roll would rolls of 1’s, Killing Frenzy +1 to hit, Lord of Khorne of Juggernaut +1 to wound means hitting on 3’s 5 and 6 do mortal wounds wounding on 2’s 5’s and 6’s add 1 damage to their weapons they just steamroll anything and eventually just reroll all failed hits and wounds. The Khorogorath is incredibly Killy as well. He’s quickly becoming a pet model that I’m just really excited to have and bring with me all the time in any list. Even more than 1. I’m just over the moon with this guy. Buff him even a little and I imagine if I put work into him he would just rip and tear forever. I love his healing, he has shooting, 2 damage in melee, rend, 5 attacks base and other stuff just buffs it, can easily get +2/+2/-1/3 with just a blessing and command point. Like this guy is just *muah* I like the Brass Stampede alpha strike all close together and just blasting mortal wounds and Mighty Skullcrushers for 140 points feel like a steal. 4’s to hit 3’s to wound base with -1 rend is pretty good, buffs only make them better, plus the mounts and for 5 wound models these guys quickly spit dice, and at least against Dwarves lasted forever. Feeling much more positive about these guys. Going near into my “must always bring” category. so Battalions I know I enjoy a lot and get a lot out of: Skulltake, Brass Stampede and Gore Pilgrims. Still have at least 2 more to test and a couple double Battalion lists. Slaughter Priests were risk it for the biscuit today and mostly basically killed themselves but at least most of the time I got 1 killing frenzy off I guess....? Super unreliable outside of Gore Pilgrims. The +1 is super worth it, but again, super risky without it. So it’s a toss up... That covers my latest discoveries and tests. I love how Chaos Chosen look but I had heard they weren’t great - however if anyone has positive experiences I am super open to running them! Adore their models! No matter what I’m getting Chaos Knights as I’m in love with their models so I’m just really glad to hear they’re totally worth it
  3. I’m using them with Daemon Weapons and then just buffing them. Lord on Juggernaut +1 to wound, Bloodstoker rerolling wound rolls of 1, +1 to hit from killing frenzy, +1 attack from Aspiring Deathbringer. After you mulch a few units you’re re-rolling all hits and then re-rolling all wounds. It basically takes care of itself, so it’s just a gamble I’m willing to take. Not to mention on wound rolls of 6 or more in the Skulltake their weapons do an additional damage. So hits of 6 do mortal wounds and wounds of 6 do additional damage and you’re rerolling all fails for everything and the pain train just keeps growing. absolutely fully buffed Skullreapers are terrifying and basically can seemingly kill anything. It’s why I fell in love with the Skulltake Battalion.
  4. My computer is down for the count atm and scroll builders copy/paste function doesn’t work on my iPhone reasons. Sorry.
  5. I can’t decide which list of these 3 is the better list... The third list would put in one of the 20 point endless spells depending on who I am facing... magic heavy would be the anti-caster maelstrom, movement heavy if I don’t think I’ll get first turn or just to block objectives shackles, or if slow and not magic heavy (dispossessed-like armies) quicksilver swords.
  6. I’m just kind of brain dumping some of my thoughts post battle today - I didn’t get the game in I wanted but I was able to test a little bit of everything. I still haven’t done much with Mighty Skullcrushers but I believe in their alpha strike potential and think they could be good. Skullreapers are amazing, especially against 1 wound models and with lots of support. They’re especially good in the Skulltake Battalion and still solid on their own, however they’re quite soft and really require buffs and protection. They need help otherwise they just wilt. Wrathmongers I am iffy on. They feel like a gimmick more than anything. Paying 180 points for 1 extra attack for them to hang back and just be supports feels like a total waste, but in combat they aren’t exactly ultra Killy or anything and then it just ends up hurting you when your opponent swings back with more attacks. Their on death effect has potential to be decent but overall I’m not in love with Wrathmongers. I will need to test with them further but I’m sitting closer to “avoid” than “gotta have it”. Speaking of gotta have it - Khorgoraths are like sleeper OP. Baseline they’re just strong and they only get better with buffs and support. They’re incredible in Skulltake which I have some previous experience with, but even as they are they are just really tanky and put out decent work. I really like these guys. I feel like from now on I always need one with me. If it isn’t obvious I really like the Skulltake Battalion - but I still want to try out some other unused Battalions like Brass Stampede, The Goretide and even Bloodbound Warband or whatever. Lord of Khorne on Juggernaut kicks ass for a solo dude. Very tanky, and actually pretty Killy and his command ability is gold. Overall love this guy. 2nd favorite model in GW’s line and the stats to back it up and be a total badass. Skarr Bloodwrath is.... fun. However he’s clearly situational. He struggles against 2 wound hordes like Bonesplittaz. I think he’s best used against blobs of 20-30 and with low saves and 1 wounds. So situationally amazing but still enjoyable. Blood Warriors.... I’m struggling to... love. They’re 100 points and it seems like every game I’ve used them in they’ve either 1) been to slow to get into combat at all or 2) literally died, fought back and done pittance for damage the end. I don’t get why I want them? Chaos Warriors are cheaper and seem better on paper? I don’t know. I keep using them but I keep wondering why. Some Battalions make me but at this point maybe if I don’t /have/ to I just won’t. Not in love. At least they look really cool.
  7. Yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss Insta-include every list. It’ll be like Guilliman Kill Box but melee and.... deathswarm.
  8. Can anyone confirm or deny the rumors about an Angron Model and a World Eaters/Chaos Space Marine update? It may or may not be my sole reason for living honestly. New Zerkers... updated Termjnators... actual PLASTIC Havocs! Plastic Obliterators! Oh boy~ Anyone have any uh evidence to support these rumors or know a guy who knows for sure or anything...? Plz. I need these rumors to be true and I need this release rightnowrightnowrightnowrightnowrightnowrightnow. Edit: Also keep up updated on Beastmen and Ironjawz rumour for new models or Battletomes or both.... p.s. what makes Darkoath distinct and different from Slaves to Darkness? Isn’t it all just uh chaos... undivided ?
  9. Daughters of Khaine was a financial flop? What are the odds of the Tomb Kings coming back but rebranded and renamed to something... cooler? Else? I don’t know. Something fancy like “The Last Dynasty of <Important TK character” and the whole story is how they’re rebelling against Nagash or something. What are the odds of anything happening with the old classic like regular wood elves instead of Sylvaneth or regular human instead of Stormcast or regular Dark Elves or you know all those old classic armies that got splintered into 40 tiny subfactions that scarcely exist and don’t even make it into the walls in the GW stores.
  10. So uh.... I love Khorne Mortals... and uh.... I actually have more lists than this but these are the ones I want to experiment with right now.... and uh I’m planning on getting a game in tomorrow.... but I’m not sure which list to use and I don’t know who I’ll be playing. Any suggestions for what looks the most fun and/or cool?
  11. Cogs! That’s 60 points but gives +2” movement and add +2 to charge rolls. Great Synergy with your Slaneeshi ability to run and charge! Get everyone stuck in faster! Then turn it off and get an extra spell from your CSL from then on
  12. GW sells just a box of skulls? I’m both surprised and simultaneously not at all. That’s hilarious. So is the pyramid hollow inside?
  13. It also has good synergy with the Skulltake Battalion - speaking of Skullreapers. 6 or more wound roll add 1 to the damage characteristic of the weapon used.
  14. Where did you find the bits for these? This isn’t necessarily GW stuff is it? Like those little skulls and the pyramid layers?
  15. You got me! The literal reason I’m starting a Slaves to Darkness army is because I can bring the Warriors and Knights along with my pre-established Khorne Bloodbound and because I love the models. so I can mix and match units and also play them stand-alone (STD and BoK).
  16. Also they don’t take up the same role. Brutes are for hunting monsters, heroes and any units with 4+ wounds primarily. They can do work against anything but they’re at their best against large things. They’re our elite infantry. Ardboys are just regular infantry. They’re the objective holders, screens, “chaff” (they’re a bit too durable and a bit too awesome to be just chaff) and overall flexible unit - doubly so due to the way you can load them out. You can go for rend, just spitting dice (dual-wield), Shields for defense or a mix of all of the above. Youre comparing apples to cucumbers. One is a fruit and one is a vegetable, the only thing they have in common is that they are plants. Similarly, the only thing Brutes and Ardboys have in common is they’re both Orruks.
  17. I played an under 1000 point game against a guy at the store who had a Seraphon Start Collecting! Box and utterly crushed him without meaning to He has 770 points so I brought 720 points. No gimmicks or anything just straight Ironjawz rules. No battalions. He had a Saurus-Oldblood on Carnosaur, converted Scar Veteran on Cold-One, converted Astrolith Bearer and some sort of converted priest with 5 saurus knights and 10 saurus warriors. I brought 1 Megaboss on Foot, 1 Warchanter, 20 Ardboys and 5 brutes. 10 of my Ardboys never left deployment as they were securing an objective. My list came out to 720 because I dropped my 2 units of Gore-Gruntas and his was 770. I think in retrospect I should have let him have first turn, but I dropped my units faster and decided to go first. In the first turn I dropped his Carnosaur to 1 wound with huge charges from my brutes and a 9 inch exactly charge from my Megaboss on foot. Waaaagh! Didn’t go off. I needed a 3 or less and rolled 6 and 5 with prophet of the Waaagh! I had used my Warchanter’s Frenzy of Violence on the Brutes. My Ardboys were only just able to charge into his unit of Warriors. After activations were all said and done his knights had piled in and taken 2 wounds off my brutes... but his OldBlood on Carnosaur was at 1 wound and his pack of Warriors was down to 2 models, and my Ardboys didn’t take a dent. Turn 2 he went first and proceeded to kill 2 of my brutes, but in the swing back I killed his Carnosaur which then went into smashing and bashing killing his 2 Warriors then taking his Knights down to 2 remaining with my Brutes. During his turn he planted his Astrolith Bearer and charged with his Scar Veteran on cold one. On my turn 2 I moved my Megaboss toward his Skink priest as well as my Ardboys whom he had moved to his objective. Securing charges I was in range of both objectives which is a major victory on turn 3. I wiped out the priest with my Megaboss giving him 8 attacks on his Boss Choppa and 9 total wounds, my Ardboys were just nearby via charge to hold the objective and my Brutes finished his knights with only his Scar Veteran and Astrolith remaining. I wasn’t actually trying to crush him... so is there an even lighter list we can take versus new people? Maybe exactly what’s in our Start Collecting? 3 GG 10 Ardboys and a Warchanter? I wanted this guys game to be a good new player experience and he said he had fun and also realized Seraphon suck without their wizards and big dinosaurs... so it was definitely a learning moment to realize what works and what doesn’t but I feel a bit guilty because I was planning on things being more even... What list would you have brought to make it a closer game? How should I face new people on more even terms?
  18. That looks exactly like my list, except I was running 3 sets of brutes over Ardboys. Strongly considering subbing them out and grabbing either Quicksilver Swords against non-caster armies or the Malevolent Maelstrom to help shut down guys who like to cast too much.
  19. I think I’ve managed to fit one into almost every list for my Khorne.... but I also don’t limit myself to just Gore Pilgrims. I’m not a tournament player though. I recently won a game with the Skulltake Battalion and enjoyed it so much I’m getting another Khorgorath to run it at maximum strength! I also plan on experimenting with double battalions However since Lord of Khorne on Juggernaut is my favorite model I would say he’s in more of my lists than he’s not.
  20. If I run the list I was planning and drop a unit of brutes for Ardboys I would have 20 spare points left over... any good endless spells for 20 points?
  21. What sort of list are you running? All of my Bloodtoofs come down to 3 units of 5 Brutes and 2 units of 3 Gore-Gruntas with various leaders. Notably MGMK, 1-2 Warchanter, either 1 Weirdknob or 1 Fungus Shaman and a Megaboss on Foot (or not). Plus mostly just cogs but sometimes cogs and Balewind Vortex. That said: even though everyone earlier on this thread was essentially saying Ardboys are dead, and have lost their purpose, just playing casually in my anecdotal experience I’ve found them to be useful and fun. They’re just plain old tough and I like to run a mix of 2 handed weapons and dual-wielding no shields, but pure dual-wielding a unit of 10 no buffs spits out 30 attacks each and it only goes up from there baby. They put a hurt on just about anything through sheer numbers and once you start buffing them it gets worse. And I know it’s dumb but I just love how Footboss looks and I find his brute re-roll aura to be heroic in its own right. So for me personally, my all stars have been MGMK, Footboss, Brutes and Ardboys. I always bring a Weirdknob and he never does anything all game if I’m not using endless spells. Sometimes my GG get shot off the table before they can act too.
  22. They would need to adequately space out their screens and really ensure no units behind said screen are within 3”. All it takes is one souped up GG unit to smash into that screen, especially if you do the whole Congo line across the board thing and use 1 unit for screening, to delete that unit and then smashing and bashing right on into their main force.
  23. I want more racial scenery. I’ve seen a lot of people make their own on some Battle Reports, like DBZ stacked rock spires in the wilderness for Ghur, but I would love some more death-themed scenery, Ork themed scenery and so forth. Also it would be cool to have realm based scenery!
  24. Aaah I see. I’ve got a few Bloodtoofs lists I’m looking forward to running myself.
  25. Meanwhile I’m just sitting here picking my butt and scratching my nose wondering when new World Eaters models are coming and if there will ever be plastic Havocs... Obliterators... mutilators.... khorne berzerkers... etc.
