  1. I'm overread most places, but on there I was Overmind2000 - had the old ripper avatar from the default list And I'm terrible with names too, I only recall you because of the name and avatar icon (and if you'd used a different avatar I'd not recall you at all probably)
  2. My expectation is that things should swing round to at least half a year of Sigmar focus. 40K just finished a massive year of updates to the codex and only has 3 more factions to go before everything is done pretty much. After that there's Sisters of Battle next year, but otherwise they should be done. So that leaves ample time to flip things over and let Sigmar dominate for a period of time. Granted there's Titanicus in August, but that release, whilst big, should also be fairly small in terms of what comes out (two weeks and it should be done). I do think DoK need a getting started soon; for a faction so newly released its teling that they didn't get a getting started add during the big 2.0 launch and with Morathi and two other new sculpts (snakes and harpies) and a big spot next to Slannesh in the story I can't see Daughters vanishing. The worry is that they'll hold off and do a big joint Sisters and Slannesh release - which is fine so long as Slannesh isn't left for another half a year or more.
  3. @Kirjava13 Also I just remembered where I saw your avatar and user name - RelicNews forums! Same person?
  4. I don't mind Daughters having all their Heroes in one box - its probably cheaper that way than getting them all separately. The only things I really do mind are a lack of a proper getting started set and the price of Witch Aelves. It's nuts to think that its over £100 just to field a single 30 person unit of a basic troop type! I really don't get why GW hasn't just issued a new GS boxed set with, say, two groups of Witch Aelves and something else or somesuch.
  5. I wonder how fast they are going to push out Endless Spells. We can possibly expect them for every new Battletome to come, however several armies already have Battletomes for Sigmar and are unlikely to see any new one for a very long time. So that leaves me wondering if GW is going to overlook those armies for ages, drip feed them Endless spells or push them out fast to encourage their use. Personally I hope for the latter rather than leaving existing factions waiting on a "maybe" whilst seeing other factions get new battletomes and endless spells.
  6. Yeah I think the only changes for Daughters has been the point adjustments to the Battalions
  7. I don't think anyone was expecting to see big hints of future content today beyond the new models coming out next week. Today was all about the new book, new spells, etc... So yeah fully expected not to get many/any hints at other new stuff coming futher. I'm sure that some hints have been dropped and will be in the big 24 hour video; so I'm sure some stuff will come out. Plus the new Genestealer cults models "accidentally" ended up in the showcase.
  8. Here's a question, anyone got details and photos of how you transport your models? For the most part DoK are fairly easy, but the cauldron and Morathi are huge models. Even if you're only taking two caldrons or a cauldron and bloodwreck that's a lot of space taken up with bulky models; esp if one hasn't magnetized the avatar. So I'd be interesting on hearing and seeing what cases and setups work and how much we can all carry.
  9. I can't quite get a straight answer on the BloodCoven. GW Websites dont' list it (though the newzealand one does) however I've seen several UK stores get stock of it over the last week or two; though neither of the two I've spoken too has found a firm answer as to if its discontinued or what is going on with it. Regardless the Blood Cauldron is a veyr solid purchase as it gives you most of the heroes that the faction has - actually all of them baring Morathi. So that would be a first port of call; then add in witches (expensive sadly)
  10. @Chris Tomlin another thread for linking in the first opening post of the thread:
  11. It should be noted that whilst the base sizes are suggested, it also notes that if you don't use the correct base size you should use the chart to measure to the base that "should" be there. So you can put a model on the wrong base, but you should measure as if it were the "correct" base size. Which for ease generally means that you want to use the correct base size - though I will admit GW has been messing around with bases for a while now and I really hope that them having made this table means that they'll stop randomly changingbase sizes!
  12. Unlikely - it could also mean that the FAQ got it wrong; it might be worth sending GW a message to confirm it. That said 40mm to 60mm isn't too bad as you can always put one base atop the other and mean she's standing upon a platform.
  13. Someone somewhere asked what base sizes units have - these are now up in the FAQ document from GW https://whc-cdn.games-workshop.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/age_of_sigmar_core_rules_designers_commentary_base_sizes_en.pdf Take note that the base size for the Bloodwrack is 60mm instead of the 40mm that the Cauldron kit lists it comes with.
  14. Also don't forget that GW has basically been underproducing for a while due to a factory power shortage as a result of works by the local council. I've no idea if that has been resolved or not but GW has basically been hit and miss with production for a while now. Basically 40K 8th did so well that GW's production is outstripped by demand and now Sigmar 2.0 is likely to be another massive launch. Alongside that GW has been dropping new releases every WEEK. That said do shop around, stock appears to be getting out to 3rd parties and ebay every so often. Also make use of the "email me when ready" on the GW website. GW do listen to that and if a product gets a lot of unique hits on that it might well bump it up the production slider a bit to get that demand filled.
  15. I think GW of now is keen to avoid armies being "dumped" through their own rules system. We've seen this to great effect in 40K over this new wave of codex so I think they will continue it with Sigmar. Basically its daft for GW to invest in launching armies and then to let them flounder to nothing. As for its DoK will become a top tier army that's a harder thing to say at this stage. I think that once the book is out and has been out for a while we'll get a better idea of how Sigmar 2.0 turns out as a game. Furthermore we'll get an idea of how the new Endless Spells and artifacts are taken up at the competitive end (or not) and how dominant the summoning rules turn out to be. There's a lot of question marks at present so I'd say its hard to say yes or no. I don't think DoK will be bottom though and I'd say they are likely in that bracket where a good player could place well with them at a competition.
  16. Honestly even if GW just reboxed Witch Aelves into a 20 man boxed set and released that; provided there was a discount compared to the current set of 10 that would be something. The WE are still priced as an optional elite army component price rather than a battleline model that's the cornerstone of the army. It's a hangover from when the Dark Elves were split up. The worst thing is that when you're (from GW direct) looking at £105 for a single 30 model group that is expected to be one of several in your army; then that is going to turn a lot of people away from the DoK. That DoK are not even getting pushed during the relaunch is a worry. I can't see GW dropping them after putting money into the new sculpts; but at the same time it seems so odd to put all that effort into a new faction and then not followthrough with a getting started box and other adjustments to better represent them and make them interesting. Right now you can spend over £400 and only have your basic troops covered and NOTHING else. No heroes, beasts, riders, khinari etc... That's the price of some full armies with a lot more diversity. It's a big issue for DoK in securing popularity and I really hope GW addresses this before Christmas.
  17. My two big wonders are when DoK will get their own Endless Spells (and what those spells will be) and if/when we'll get a proper getting started boxed set (or at least some means to discount our highly overpriced basic witch troops). @Chris Tomlin Any chance this thread could be added to the first post for reference? I figure its going to be a topic that comes up time and again for those new to daughters so I figure it will help to have it split off on its own so that its much easier to reference, read and add too.
  18. That is one awesome collection of conversions - really love the theme and you've done some great model and paintwork!!
  19. Like several others I've no skill set suited to either position, but I do want to see thanks to GW for reaching out and for giving people this opportunity! Hope you get some great applicants and some people get to put a foot on the ladder of a dream job for them!

Love the vein effect you've achieved on the wings - really adds a lot of detail to an area that can be quite simple in terms of detail. Mind if I ask how you achieved the layering effect over the top of the veins to get such a good effect? I'm guessing washes/shades and/or use of medium mixed with a layer paint?
  21. I think GW's former release policy made balance for their game a nightmare. In the past armies that weren't poster child armies (basically anything that wasn't marines) could go years without a codex update and could even miss a whole rules edition release (I think Dark Eldar wound up two editions behind at one point). With a longer and longer gap each release of a faction was essentially like relaunching a brand new army; old fans would have drifted away, new people wouldn't be as interested in the army that performed poorly for years. So there was every bit of pressure not just to have new rules and new models but also to make the faction really stand out on the table; which tended to (esp in 40K) make them a bit (to totally) overpowered when they came out. That and any faction without new rules could often be underpowered until they got new rules; so you could go years before your army would get updated to be "on par" with the others. New GW has turned that whole model aside. Even though 40K isn't perfectly balanced (and lets face it chances are it never can be) the strides they've made over the last year or so have been huge. All rules updated at once with the index; new codex that are much more about internal variety of choice and balance between them - and because they are coming out so fast one after the other there's far less need to make each one a full relaunch. It's a huge feat for GW to achieve, but I'd say they've done it in a big way and set the ground for further improvement. We might even see a time when editions go away and instead we see rolling releases of dataslate new units; chapter approved every year or so and then a big codex and rulebook update every few years that collects all the published changes up to that point togethr in a single updated volume (along with likely new things and all the lore and artwork we expect). Fantasy is starting to follow that very same pattern, though its lagging at present because 40K is the current focus. I think mid-way this year it should flip around and fantasy should become much more the focus.
  22. Honestly with the way they are spreading out both their core games with so many new armies and sub-faction armies (well everything in Sigmar seems to be going subfaction splits whilst Marines are splitting up all over the place at least); it wouldn't shock me if they did take on that approach in the future.
