  1. It was previewed on the Open day on 7-20 on we haven't heard anything since then other than a significant purge of the Order factions that will make up Cities which leaves them in an even more unplayable state than they were before. GW reps flat out refused to discuss the battletome at Nova stating it's release was so soon it was pointless. Then GW proceeded to release stuff previewed at NOVA. I'm buried in a Gloomspite project at the moment so it isn't really the biggest deal to me but the roll out is bizarre and frustrating. At this point it would make far more sense for the NOVA and Sigmar Open Day previews to have been swapped.
  2. Pretty much spot on though I'll add that the lack of community article to accompany the Cull and the Nova blunder are giving me the impression that its not something they care to push much.
  3. I feel like it's a passion project for Sam Pearson that he pushed through. I have high hopes for the book itself and feel GW has massively underestimated how popular it is going to be.
  4. Dont forget how it was too soon to release to discuss at Nova.
  5. Sounds like beastgrave is going on preorder this week :P. If so this might be the longest time between a reveal day and anything from that reveal being released to preorder.
  6. I've been expecting CoS every Sunday since the Cull...
  7. I was really hoping we'd get a monster on an infantry base type hero like Mephiston in 40k with the Grimwrath Berzerker when they redid the Fyreslayers battletome. I've been wanting a character like that for awhile though I was thinking 300ish points instead of 520 :P.
  8. Well he's definitely way more powerful than I thought they would make him. Looks good though, fun to build a list around but with his teleport limitations and 4 inch move I don't see him dominating tournaments. Might be a bit of a noob stomper though. I find it funny that the shoulder plate from a random freeguild officer's armor is one of the most powerful artifacts in all the mortal realms.... I hope this bodes will for Cities of Sigmar lol.
  9. I'm hoping they'll make him something of super grimwrath and doomseeker. Gets bonuses as he takes wounds and a bonus pile in when he dies. I get he's indestructible in the books but I hope they play up the Slayer edge and make him more of a glass cannon.
  10. I said that was my worst fear. Its is entirely possible the allegiance abilities and warscroll rewrites could result in the only at least moderately competitive army builds consisting mostly of or entirely of Stormcast Eternals. Hence the battletome serving as another Stormcast Eternal battletome more than new and more modern way of playing the various human, elf and dwarf factions being consolidated.
  11. Each city can enlist Stormcast externals into their armies in allegience just like two of the cities can also do so for Kharadron Overlords and Slyvaneth. It's in the original announcement. I dont think it's likely but it's not completely unfounded.
  12. My biggest fear for COS is that it's going to turn out to be effectively just a new Stormcast battletome.
  13. I'll add that culling a significant portion of the armies set to grouped into COS with no explanation of how they'll function in the new book is part of it. Also, they are now releasing things from the NOVA preview when none of the stuff previewed a month ago has been released yet.
  14. Hell, my group is still working on painting up the starter sets and our first warbands. I'm glad to see Warcry supported buts this was NOT the time for an expansion. People are still learning the base rules for the game, they don't need to be expanded on. And as people have said, wtf is going on with Cities of Sigmar and Orruk Warclans? They were announced a month ago and since then nothing, even when they purged the order range. GW reps even refused to talk about it at Nova. For the love of god they need to at least put out a community article for people who are wondering what's going to happen to their effected order armies.
  15. I think the Warcry expansion announcement was premature and if you didn't like the new death army that was it for Nova. I think a lot of people, myself included, were hoping for more information on Cities of Sigmar and Orruk Warclans. The squatting wave was never going to go over positively but failing to follow it up with an preview of COS and an idea of how the affected factions will work in the new battletome was a mistake. I think the Slyvaneth shipping issue really screwed up their schedule; I suspect COS was already supposed to be out by now.
  16. I cannot imagine a gaming group recommending someone start a non-battletome army in AOS. Either they gave advice so bad they might as well be lying or the poster started several years back. I'll also point out that the poster is complaining about an army being removed that is due a battletome in the next couple weeks. That is some serious extremely negative tinfoil hating. I'm sure the Freeguild models will be removed someday as it is insanity to expect GW to continually produce every model forever but they're not going to dump them right after giving them a battletome. They've already cleaned house for this release. I'd also highly suggest waiting to see what the human models look like before rage quitting based on their looks.
  17. My thoughts exactly. I feel like this really effects the Mortarch in particular. I'm looking forward to seeing what people do with these models once they hit the shelves.
  18. I haven't tried it before but I'll keep it in mind. I wasn't thinking of Contrast but I could see it being amazing for miniatures.
  19. I really like them but I'm waiting to see how the rules are and what the rest of the kits they hinted at look before reaching a decision (they'll be a 2020 army for me anyways thanks to painting backlog). The 4 armed guys fall flat for me so as long as I can build a coherent and semi-competitive army without them I think I'll be good (please god don't let them be the "Eels" of this release). I'm a little concerned about the catapult. It looks great but I have to wonder at the viability of a gigantic ranged siege weapon in an army that doesn't seem to have access to cheap chaff (outside of allies but mandatory allies are a pet peeve of mine from an army design standpoint). Maybe the foot soldiers won't be too elite but then they look busy enough design wise I'm not sure I want to paint more than 20 or 30 of them tops.
  20. I really like how the Mortarch is a diorama kit. I'm not sure if I'll collect this army (I'm way to behind on painting my Gloomspite to be getting a new army anyways) but I think I'll pick him up as a painting project for Halloween assuming he's available by then. From watching the Warhammer Weekly video I felt like GW has a kind of flippant attitude towards the upcoming Cities/Orruk/Ogre releases that has me a little concerned. Though the rules designers and marketing teams are totally different. It maybe that marketing doesn't care about Cities and the Orruks because they're not coming with new models but the rules writers were still super passionate and on point with them. It does add to my suspicions that Cities and Orruks will be released together. If November = Sisters and December = no army releases we're looking at just September and October now for Cities of Sigmar, Orruk Warclans, Ogre MawTribes, and now Ossiarch Bonereapers. I think the big question is where will Mawtribes fall into the release schedule. We haven't seen a new faction get a dual set at release (outside of edition starter sets) so maybe Mawtribes will come after Bonereapers kinda like Slyvaneth and Gloomspite worked with Looncurse? There doesn't seem to be enough time unless Mawtribes are actually a 2020 release.
  21. Yeah... We haven't had anything from the last reveal released yet. Tom mentioned that releases were all bumped back a month because of the Sylvaneth shipping issues, it would explain the lack of AOS releases. I'm thinking Warclans and Cities will be released together. If everything previewed last month is going to be released by the end of the year (and normally that means before December) they're running short on time if they still want to pace releases instead of just dumping everything.
  22. I'm pretty sure the rumor engine is a new character from the upcoming death faction....Khal Bono....
  23. They better have a spell or ability called "Bonestorm!"
  24. I'm just gonna go with "The Tithe" for lolz.
  25. I've just given up on Slaves to Darkness/Darkoath ever coming out. I'm sure we'll see something for Archaon and the Varanguard eventually just because they're new, excellent models with outdated rules. I really think the originally planned STD book got canned though. We might get something for them eventually but if we assume the book was being worked on around the time the Darkoath Warqueen was released (assuming Harbingers = planned army release) we could be looking at a book finished then held back for 2 years (or more). At some point the rules may no longer reflect design processes or philosophies of books near it in the release cycle.
