  1. I feel like 40k has the issue of neglected factions not selling as well. Like even with Craftworlds getting new banshees most of their stuff is still ancient. Plus I think there is a bit of a self fulfilling prophecy that you want to play an army that gets rules and model support so a lot pick imperial, then imperial sells best so they get more support. I always hoped in AoS you would see relatively even support for all the armies. Thus far this seems to be true.
  2. If they do it like Kill Team and use it as a way to stealth release new units for AoS armies that would be hype. Otherwise I'm not super bothered! Never seen anyone playing it locally.
  3. I feel like we might get coalition rules with DoK, at least some of the enclaves might.
  4. It was first mentioned by a guy on 4chan who claimed to work for GW Italy and was throwing out a load of dubious claims. At that time he basically said Idoneth were a massive flop. I'm pretty sure the whole thing is a troll that originates with people who are hostile to AoS who started the whole "flying shaerk " meme to try and discredit AoS as a game. I honestly think that any rumour coming out of 4chan is almost certainly false. All the genuine rumours I can remember in the last 5 years originated elsewhere and almost all the 4chan ones are false.
  5. Yeah this is true, but that 2k list probably cost about the same as any 2k list for Idoneth money wise. To be honest I hope they don't change too much with the warscrolls as Idoneth are quite well balanced at the moment. I'd like to see Morrsarr go down in cost a bit. I think 170 is probably fair in the current edition. 195 makes them hard to justify.
  6. I know I'm super biased, but I honestly can't imagine Fyreslayers as anything other than the least popular modern AoS army. Edit: If we look at this survey by @SirSalabean from early 2021 we can see Fyreslayers are very unpopular while Idoneth are middle of the pack popularity wise. Of course this doesn't necessarily mean they sell well, but it gives some basic idea of what might and might not. If I look at some army specific fb groups Idoneth has 4.3k members, Slaves to Darkness 4.2k members, Sylvaneth 4.5k members, Kruelboyz 3.3k members, KO 4.6k members. None of this is hard sales figures, but it doesn't seem to indicate any big issue with Idoneth popularity.
  7. I think it's just mentioning the events of Broken Realms Morathi. The last canon story we got with Idoneth had them working with Daughters of Khaine loyal to Morathi. It was a broken realms short story where they kill a Lumineth guy.
  8. Well guesswork. 1) we know it's a chaos book. 2) Maggotkin is the oldest book. 3) When the aos app launched the Maggotkin section wasn't on there.
  9. These old 4chan rumours are nonsense. The next three tomes are almost certainly Maggotkin, Idoneth and Fyreslayers. Idoneth vs Fyreslayers with a foot hero for each in a battlebox.
  10. Imagine if Umbraneth was a troll, but then GW decided to use it anyway. 🤣
  11. These rumours are quite easy to falsify as we should get an announcement on at least the first expansion warband before the end of the year. If true slightly sad, but not surprised, that there isn't going to be another Idoneth warband for the under the sea version.
  12. Maybe they will do a road map for AoS after the Stormcast are out?
  13. The other thing that you could consider as to why Idoneth may have sold poorly is that they came out only a month or two after DoK. You had two brand new "dark elf" style armies that released very close together. It's possible that many players who had been waiting for an AoS elf army hopped onto the DoK wagon and then didn't have any need to commit to Idoneth. Especially as Morathi was an existing figure from the lore. Lastly, you could also argue that Idoneth are the hardest army from a hobby perspective. You have to deal with a lot of flight stands, sub assemblies and detailed models sitting in weird positions. I would never recommend them to a new player because of that.
  14. Again, putting my bias aside, I do feel that compared to 40k we have too many armies with a low unit roster.
  15. Honestly, I don't know if this was just a troll meme or if it's true. When Idoneth came out there was a lot of backlash from online trolls and WHFB players. People were unhappy with the whole "flying shark" meme. After this alleged "leakers" on 4chan claimed they had sold poorly. This could be untrue because Idoneth have generally had good representation at events, largely due to being a top tier army for most of their history and seem to be middle of the pack for popularity on general polls. We also know that GW profits were very good in 2018 and that the strategy of releasing new armies has continued from them on. It could be true because anecdotally I'm the only Idoneth player in my local scene and I don't see a ton of interest in them online. GW also didn't provide them with a 2nd edition book or model release, so maybe they are lower priority. Personally I would like to see all smaller Aos factions get new units to bring up their overall roster and diversity a bit. Basically Lumineth wave 2 for everyone.
  16. It's in the current issue which I picked up for the StD content and for the free transfers, which although I don't play 40k, have lots of runes that will come in handy one day for AoS. There is a feature on places in the realm of death with 4 major locations highlighted, one of them being this chorf place in the middle of the sea. I've heard rumours, no idea if true but I hope not, that Idoneth are a poorly selling army. It would maybe make sense to put an army that doesn't sell as well in a battlebox with a new faction. A bit like the old ogre kits that came with the all new OBR stuff in feast of bones. It's a bit of a long shot but fun to speculate.
  17. I know we think Whitefang is hinting an Idoneth vs Fyreslayers battlebox, but could it really be Chorfs vs Idoneth? Check this out from White Dwarf. A chorf fort in the middle of the sea.
  18. @Gaz Taylor@RuneBrush I don't think there is any active censorship, I guess sometimes the desire to remain positive can sometimes come across as being kind to GW. As mods though I get there is a certain level of responsibility in that ranting about GW might come across as a bad example when trying to maintain an overall positive community. I am definitely prone to believing something bad about GW if I hear it, like I never even considered this might be fake. So that's my own bias. It isn't that I want them to fail, it's just I've been a bit let down by the changes (business wise) in the last couple of years. While still greatly enjoying the product and games themselves.
  19. I'm not going to respond to the personal attacks. I will clarify that I'm not "calling out" the mods. It's just my opinion that the moderation team as a whole are quite pro-games workshop. They are entitled to that opinion, but I personally would prefer that they be a bit less hands on about it. I hope that isn't seen as an insult to anyone in particular. I also want to state I don't see myself as a victim, but I did want to clarify my personal frustrations. My post history is negative because right now there seems to be a lot of bad news going around, but you can also see that I've made plenty of positive contributions talking about tactics, rumours and my armies. I don't enjoy being frustrated, but that's where I am right now with the business practices. Hobby wise I am super happy playing 3rd edition, continuing to expand my Idoneth over the 5k painted barrier and working on my new Slaves to Darkness list.
  20. Agreed. I don't want to attack anyone but it honestly seems like the mods on this forum only want to praise GW. I have only ever seen defense of GW from them and the use of mod powers to end criticism.
  21. I'm not sure this is off topic but I want to clarify my personal stance on GW since some people may have the impression I hate them. I do not hate GW, I am distrusting of publicly traded companies beholden to shareholders who often prioritize making as much money as possible in the shortest time possible. I know GW has a ton of passionate, hard-working and incredibly talented staff. I love Warhammer and these are the people who make it great. However, in the past year and a bit (memory is fuzzy because covid) GW as a business have made some ****** decisions / revelations about their ****** decisions have come to light. 1) Continuing to push prices up on models despite record profits for them and financial hardship for many during covid. 2) A FOMO marketing strategy that pressures people to buy now or be scalped later (seems to be addressed now maybe?). 3) Paying their employees poorly. 4) Cursed City. 5) Warhammer+ basically being a way to make you pay for content they previously produced for free. They used to just put painting content on YouTube and the AoS app was totally free. Now you have to pay twice to get app the rules, once for a sub and then to unlock the books. 6) No more digital books. 7) Creating new aggressive copyright/ IP protection policies to kill fan content and scare people off. BONUS PETTY GREIVANCE 😎 Not releasing an Idoneth book for the whole of 2nd edition and leaving my favourite faction without new stuff for like 3 years
  22. I don't see why it would be fake. Like, who is going to mock up a false NDA with obscure legal language that most of us casual random don't understand just to make Games Workshop look bad to a handful of people online. Plus it seems to match their wider tactics of cracking down on fan videos and 3rd party content.
  23. I am quite sad to post this because it seems like I'm always having issue with GW at the moment when honestly I adore warhammer. But it looks like GW are basically demanding positive coverage in return for advance copies of models and books. See the new NDA as shared by Goobertown Hobbies on Twitter. LINKY As mentioned in that thread this is not standard and basically means anyone with advance "review" copies cannot provide an unbiased opinion. Edit: I wanted to make it clear that we do not yet know if this is genuine. Many are arguing this is a false document. Edit 2: Recent Twitter events appear to have proven the legitimacy of this document. Please take it with a pinch of salt.
  24. Sure thank you for the apology. If you head to thehonestwargamer.com, lists and then set faction to StD there are a couple of successful lists on there. I'm not going to lie, Archaon is the focus, but you absolutely can do well with Daemon Princes in Despoilers. Lists might change a bit now as many will drop marauders for Iron Golems or Untamed Beasts.
