The way to Golden Demon Classics

Recommended Posts

So, WHF Europe and with it hte Golden Demon Classics in Düsseldorf draws near - and in good old fashion friends and I will participate. Scince the last GD in mainland Europe few things have changed, basicly reuslting in less painting time. Others have stayed the same, mainly starting projects far to close to the deadline. But both shall not keep me from trying to finish an entry in time (despite vacation, high workload, and a private life besides painting plastic).

What are we talking about: Nighhaunt stuff!

jep, a base without a base in the traditional sense - a the stuff GW allows nowadays, both rule and model wise.

Too keep me a bit motivated and to show you the development, I will try to post updates regularly.

Oh, and there is a Plan B, if this goes south:

That fellow is nearly done, only some blood on the base is missing right now - so he's just one evening of work and a day of waiting away form done!

The Ghosts are just blocked in right now to get an overall feel of the colour scheme. Might Turn out, that the deadline will be a close call, but we'll see. Right now the biggest Question is NMM or TM - which will probably boil down to how much time is left on the clock after the rest ist done.

The spirits infused in the throne are great!!!

Really good stuff all around.

EDIT: Removed the "Not" at the end... sent from phone and don't know why that showed up. That came off as dickish then. Not my intention at all!

Your work is phenomenal!!!

The throne looks great! Mind sharing which colours you used for the stonework?

Thanks. The throne is a wild mixture of greys with different hues of purple, green, turquoise and brown/ocker mixed in. Further glazes with dark bluish and violet tones were added, to achieve the texturing. The lights are painted by adding more turquoise and yellow to bluish grey. Sorry to be so unspecific, but it's a bit of a chaotic way, were I went by what felt right and altered the original plan after seeing the development after each step. Basically, the idea was to change colours in shadows and lights, producing cold and warm highlights at the same time and thus giving it a bit of a ghostly effect.

Got a finalist pin, but nothing more - other entries were unarguably better. But had a good time, meet old friends and folks I haven't seen in a long time. Talked a bit to some guys inside the studio, that I knew form before they went to work for GW. Overall a wonderful week-end.
