What counts as nearest model?

  1. 1. If a rule says nearest 'model' and you are equidistant to 2 (or more) models, what counts as the nearest?

    • All do, apply whatever it is you are doing to everyone
      10
    • Only 1, it says model - attacking player decides which
      15
    • Only 1, it says model - roll-off to decide which model it is
      2

With the new pile-in rule there are people saying 2 models in base contact count as both nearest, so you cant move.  What say everyone else?

Additional theoretical example for dicussion, if an attacked does D3 mortal wounds to the nearest model, would you let them do D3 wounds to every model in base contact?

It's more interesting, tactically, if a 2-model contact locks you in place.

It also makes sense that you can't spin around one model if you're also having to protect yourself from a different model to the side of you

A quick reminder that rules tell us what we CAN do during a game.

There is no stipulator whatsoever that I see that would imply either player would get to choose which model counts as the closest in an equidistant scenario.  Until we have an FAQ, both models would fit the criteria for the closet model, which would lock the model in place.

I suspect it will be FAQ'd to stipulate that the active player may decide, as that as been a trend.  But really, until it's in writing, that's jist supposition.
