  1. In all honesty I fear that would break my wallet... Would be happy with just a new BB team
  2. +++ MOD HAT +++ Feel that we may have exhausted the discussion regarding the new points as they've barely been mentioned in the past 3 pages and now veering off track. If there's nothing else to add, I'll lock the thread later on today.
  3. We got an update to them after AoS 2 came out. It's speculation but wouldn't have called it wild 🤷‍♂️
  4. It's about how you put your unhappiness across that's the biggest factor. If you want to make a complaint about anything you need to be clear and concise, not angry and offence. Humans are funny creatures, but if you greet somebody with hostility you're likely to get hostility or avoidance. Greet somebody with a smile and a balanced argument and you're much more likely to get the same response in return. This applies to face to face and the internet in equal measure. This has been my Saturday morning TED talk 😁 I'd best get on with something that isn't on the computer now 🧐
  5. My issue is that I'd be pretty miffed if I went somewhere and read comments where strangers were telling me that I was rubbish at my job and it was "obvious". It's one thing for people to point out problems, it's another for people to be rude about it. Hope you can see where I'm coming from - ultimately if we want the devs to identify the issues we believe we've found, it's best to not start off telling them they're god-awful at their job.
  6. +++ MOD HAT +++ Could I ask people to steer away from comments about "the devs have no clue" please? There will have been some logic behind the points changes even if we don't (and never will) know it - that logic could be flawed, may not necessarily work and need changing in the future, but there will be logic!
  7. +++ MOD HAT +++ And back onto rumours folks! Have said it before and will say it again, if you want to rant please go somewhere else to do it, there's ways to express your dissatisfaction without heaping it with salt and posting in every thread. AoS is at it's core a hobby that we do for entertainment, if you're finding it's raising your blood pressure, step away from the computer for a bit to cool down please.
  8. Honestly - I've not got a clue what's going to be in an FAQ. I do know that it's not uncommon to see them clear up and resolve certain things though - certainly god marked units have been tackled like this in the past. Is it only battleline that you've lost?
  9. Slight curveball - what's people's thoughts of including a mega-gargant in a soulblight army?
  10. I'd perhaps suggest waiting for any accompanying FAQ's that will inevitably come out rather than deciding not to play AoS3 based on half the information. There may be a monsterous arcanum update coming along and possibly a legends at some point. One big issue with people doing reveals of preview copies is that they only have a portion of what's going to be released.
  11. +++ MOD HAT +++ Could I ask that people take discussion about new points over to this thread I've just created please 😊
  12. Rumour thread was getting chock-a-bloc with talks about points, so here's a thread to discuss them. Ground rules as ever: Everything has been increased in points pretty much across the board We've not played a game yet, some point increases may actually not be as bad as we think If you wish to rant and rage, please do it somewhere else Many of us suspect that there will be some FAQ & errata coming alongside the new books The sky is not falling
  13. In truth I think the same approach will be taken as has been over the years. GW event/venue - make sure the model identifies as GW using GW parts. Outside a GW event/venue, fill your boots! If you do chose to use off the shelf 3d printed stuff and take them to WHW or somewhere, just be prepared to be asked to take them off the board.
  14. The new AoS rules state (section 1.2 🤓) that a "model" is a Citadel Miniature on a plastic base and that scenery should be from the Age of Sigmar range. What this means is that if you're following the Core Rules to the letter, you shouldn't be using any third-party parts- 3d printed or otherwise. My feeling is that GW have done this for a couple of reasons. Firstly because it's a lot easier to define a "Citadel Miniature" versus a miniature for a fantasy game. Secondly, when they run one of their own events, they don't need to clarify that you must only use citadel miniatures because it's now hard baked into the rules. Previously they had to put this into every event pack because GW on occasion take photos of armies and put them up on their social media accounts. What it'll mean in reality is that most non-GW events will put an exception into their battlepack allowing people to use third-party miniatures & parts. People playing at home will continue using whatever parts they fancy to make their models look cool because they'll skim over that bit of the rules and barely notice it's even a thing.
  15. +++ MOD HAT +++ Just nudging rules discussion over to the AoS3 rules discussion thread please 😊
  16. +++ MOD HAT +++ Reading quite a few "the sky is falling" comments in this thread. Just want to point out that it's highly likely we'll get some kind of FAQ/errata/update document when the game lands on the 3rd which will hopefully resolve some of the bits that don't appear to work as we think they should be. A follow-up FAQ once the full rules and handbook appear wouldn't surprise me either. In short it's too soon to start burning those models So let's try and stick to some objective posts about how your own armies fare rather than how X, Y, Z is rubbish please.
  17. That's probably the reason why they did it 🤣 Have you seen the state of skeleton armour and shields too? They have holes in them and covered in rust!
  18. They mean your army gets to shoot in two consecutive turns without the opponent being able to actually do anything with their army.
  19. Lol, don't forget this was written in the days where almost everything was metal - just needed to look at a model and it'd chip 🤣
  20. I'm pretty surprised by the scale of changes in truth. I was expecting AoS3 as more as really good polish. Cons wise (let's get the grumpy bit out the way first), I worry that changes as big as these will make people think we're going to see this type of massive change every 3 years. With the information we currently have, it does seem that the game is going to be significantly different to AoS2 (which got cut down in it's prime by a pandemic). When you invest a big chunk of change into an army and however many hours painting it up, do you want to take the risk that with a new ruleset your force could be invalidated pretty much overnight. I also worry that we're getting too many rules. One of the joys of AoS was that it has a pretty low entry level, the fact that a "young-un" can pick up the rules and understand them was a great selling point. Moving over to something that almost feels like a legal / quality assurance document though great for adults in a competitive environment, could well be a turn off for people trying to get into the game (disclaimer - I've not read the rulebook, this is me worrying based purely on what I've seen on WarCom) Pro wise, the biggest for me is that it feels like it should speed games up. Although I'm a little concerned about the sheer number of new additions and things to remember in each and every phase, you should be able to tailor an army around your own preferred playstyle and have less models on the tabletop to worry about. I'm also liking that we're going to see less massive blocks of models being fielded (sorry, I know some people prefer this!) I'm also loving how monsters and heroes should also have more impact. Part of me says that this really needed to be done with warscrolls, but having that small number of abilities for them to have, should give them a lot more presence in games.
  21. Lots of strong emotion being shown currently. One point I'm just going to make is please, please remember this is a game & hobby that we (largely) all do for our own personal enjoyment. It's not a job that we *have* to do, we do it by choice. If you're not enjoying it or it's causing your blood pressure to rise every time you think about it, then take a break, step back review and work out if you actually miss it - nobody is going to judge you if you decide that's enough for the time being. This isn't uncommon - many, many hobbyists take prolonged breaks and come back feeling a lot more positive about things. It's also not unique to our hobby (some other hobbies have seasonal breaks which allows people to recharge). It's completely understandable that some of us are going to be disappointed by the snippets and leaks we've seen, because we can immediately see it's going to have an impact on our own collections or they didn't match our own expectations. We still have just over 3 weeks until we get the new rules in our hands, I've lost count of the number of times I've read on here that X is the worst thing ever and a couple of weeks later it's been forgotten about because it's not actually as bad as it came across in isolation. I'll also point out that as great as the WarCom articles are, they're written to get us enthused about the new version and to spend our hard earned pennies on new toys and books. That includes sending out preview copies too! As ever, the real test is when we can get together with our armies and actually see how the game plays out.
  22. Thanks! I know there were a few issues which put a bit of a negative light on the box, but like you say they're some stunning models in there! Cheers. Sounds like a good plan you've worked out. I've done the objective markers, gravestones and the rats so far before I started on this one. Have just started doing the Ogor (which is the character I'm playing in a campaign we have running). One of the things I'm loving is that I'm not feeling overwhelmed by the contents. There's still quite a few models, but most of them are so different to each other, it doesn't feel like a chore! I think that quite a few people have a habit of highlighting up too quickly - jumping from the base colour (often darkened with a wash) right up to the top highlight in one hit which gives that bright tron effect. Think I layered up 3 colours with the robes and shaded with a darker colour rather than an all over wash. Though it does take a bit longer, I think the end effect is a lot smoother and less jarring.
