  1. Mutating gnarlblade on the first of my gavespawn brass despoilers doombulls, gilded horns on the second! Gilded horns with Rampant juggernaut looks fun, if going vanilla warherd.
  2. Absolutely right. Sorry, gore gruntas threw me ?
  3. While the Hag is great individually, I just think if you’re taking the beast hammer you are handicapping yourself with mournfang units of 2, because they are too small to capitalise on either of the battalion’s abilities properly. I’d be tempted to drop the hag and boost the 2 mournfang units from the battalion to 4 each. You can still take a wizard, maybe a fungoid, or drop/reduce the sabres and take a weirdnob shaman.
  4. Picture the scene: my bare-knuckle tyrant, accompanied by a grot weighed down by a veritable bundle of clubs, bashers and slicers; the tyrant says (through clenched teeth around a rifle butt) “check me out - I’m re-rolling hits”...
  5. Hey, that’s RAW for you. ? I think it must be intentional - after all, if you’re armed with more than one club, basher or slicer (no upper limit, so let’s say 6), then you don’t have any hands left to hold a pistol, so you’d be firing your pistol with your teeth. And everyone knows ogres are more accurate when using their teeth. QED.
  6. The latter. Compare with yhetees, who can do the former. (As such, I am struggling to think of any reason to take this over brass despoilers for my warherd, which is less restrictive, and has a better battalion bonus).
  7. I would. I think ironclads are a lot more durable than frigates, which are only really useful to deliver troops, then do very little. In terms of your list, I might drop the thunderers to fit it in, and stick with the close combat focus of the rest of the list. Apart from anything it gives you the potential to deploy only one unit (20 arkanauts) on the table, and deep strike the rest.
  8. No. From the khemist: A weapon cannot be augmented more than once per hero phase. Also, additional unit means a different unit. So you could for example buff skyhooks in unit 1, and then skyhooks in unit 2 with the first khemist, and then pistols in unit 1 and pistols in unit 2 with the second. Or hooks 1 and pistols 2, pistols 1 and hooks 2, etc. But never the same exact weapon in a unit more than once.
  9. Honestly, I feel that the double GkoTG list is the strongest list fec have at 1k. 3 free units, flexible in terms of what you need and also where they go, and 2 big beasties.
  10. Absolutely not. I think you only really need the ghb18. Battalions are in the FEC battletome, if you want those.
  11. Think Khorne is the only one where you can run a pure warherd battalion?
  12. I’ll be running my warherd as the khorne battalion. Can still be all warherd, but much better bonuses. Not to reopen the debate, but my one concern is that even if we get a FAQ that allows me to take the battalion in a khorne army, I won’t be able to run a full warherd with a Bloodsecrator, as I think Bullgor are only battleline with a Doombull in a BoC army. Oh well, have bought a herdstone anyway, might as well use it!
  13. It varies, but the core is 2xironclad, 3x10 arkanauts, 6 x endrinriggers, and 1xkhemist. At 2k, that leaves me 400 points to play with. (And I’ve tried various from there trying to settle!). There’s 2 set ups I think I quite like - one is another 6xendrinriggers and another khemist, the other is 10 thunderers, an endrinmaster and a navigator. I have also tried adding an admiral in place of 3 of the endrinriggers (in both lists), and while it gives a bit more hero-punch, I’m not convinced of the usefulness of 3 riggers on their own. I like all of the heroes from an aesthetic point of view, so probably try to take too many! The big advantage is that you can get everything in two ships, and only one starts on the board (and you can even redeploy that after set up if you take fleetmaster as your command trait!). One of the ironclads deep strikes with endrins, usually with 20 arkanauts, balloons and heroes, the other is dropped in deployment with anything left in it, moves up fast with the free movement of TAABIYLFI, dropping arkanauts on an objective if possible on the way, and thunderers at a useful range if present. Then it becomes a second mobile wall with the odd cannon. (I have also put the thunderers in the deep strike ironclad, and swapped out arkanauts so that there are 2 units to drop off in the other ship - which is fun if the thunderers have the shorter range guns in. I am probably not going for optimal load out there, as I have built mine with a mix for flexibility and the hope of a lucky chain of buffs).
  14. What specifically do you like best? You can build several different types of list, all fun and reasonably competitive if not top tier. You can still build a very mobile, once-and-now-almost alpha strike list with zilfin (I run 2 ironclads), or you can build a gun line with lots of thunderers and Arkonaut hordes with khemist buffs, or you can build a close combat list with lots of endrinriggers, a frigate or two to get them there, and Arkonauts with skyhooks (also with khemist buffs). But if you want semi-competitive lists with KO I think you have to pick a theme and really exploit it to the best of your ability!
  15. At what points value? I think it definitely makes sense to pay 100 pts at anything over 1k, maybe even at 1k. Even if you don’t like the bonuses - you get an extra artefact, a free command point, and a single drop army, so if you think of each of those costing 33 pts, you’d pay that for each. That way the bonuses are ... just a bonus. The only reason not to I guess is if you have particular unit synergies in mind that you cannot fit in with battalion points, something that can happen with KO, especially if you’re trying to fit in ironclads at lower points levels.
  16. Personally I’m preferring thundertusks over Stonehorns generally at the moment, but that’s partly because so many armies rely on key buff heroes that make juicy targets, and partly because Stonehorns used to be better; but they are by no means bad. The advantage of a Eurlbad or Jorlbad I guess is that you can get one going for minimum 1150/1140 Pts, and the battalion bonuses are still fairly decent. Not trying to talk you out of Torrbad, which I still think edges it for me. Savvy opponents will try and get a few wounds on each tusk, but this tactic still leaves you with mw potential for a long while. Just don’t get swamped, screen your tusks, and particularly protect your huskard. Whichever you go with, BCR needs a bit of practice these days to get the most out of, so keep at it. I am having a lot of fun with my thundertusks, and yhetees are also surprisingly useful (even if the models are overdue for an overhaul, and a price drop!). Let us know how you get on!
  17. No benefit to getting the Khorne keyword specifically, not the battalion. And of course, if the faq changes it, lots of options open up. That was my point!
  18. Agreed. In that specific instance. But for khorne, as in my example, there is no benefit.
  19. But what’s the point? Unless I can have something in the army which affects models with the (e.g.) khorne keyword, then it’s redundant to have it. And nothing in BoC does.
  20. So... I want to run Brass despoilers with a Bloodsecrator. If I have understood correctly: a) I cannot do that with beasts of chaos allegiance, as I can’t ally in a Bloodsecrator. b) I can do it under the grand alliance chaos, as I can take battalions from any chaos, right? In this case, the command traits and artifacts would either have to come from general chaos, or from realms. c) I can’t do it with blades of khorne allegiance, as the battalion doesn’t have a faction so is assumed to be beasts of chaos. Have I understood right? The only way to buff my khorne minotaurs with khorne heroes is under chaos grand alliance?
  21. Torrbad can be fun, and it’s a menacing gun line; if pricy in 2k at 1550. I think you need something to screen, and yhetees are perfect with their extra bounce (moreover can be in the Torrbad) so You could take 3x3 yhetees to support at 2k. When it works, it really works, just snipe first! If you want to work with what you have, you could take a unit of 6 and then a couple of sabre units (quick maths says you could fit in 10 sabres as well?) or even a hunter with 2 sabres
  22. I think you need more bodies. At 500pts, the free summoning abilities are scary. If you don’t need 2 battleline, try: Ghoul king on terrogheist with majestic horror, 10 crypt ghouls. this allows you to bring 2 units of crypt horrors/ Flayers on in your first turn (and it’s a 2 drop army), and you still have a terrogheist! If you do need 2 battleline, try: 2 Ghoul kings, one of them general with majestic horror, 2 units of 10 crypt ghouls. This means 50 ghouls by turn 2, all buffable by either of the kings. Alternatively replace one of the GK with 2x ghast courtier, for 40 regenerating ghouls, and just look after your king! Courtiers are always going to be sniper targets though.
  23. I think that is the fluff yes; but I remain unconvinced ? To expect us to worship an orruk deity in any aspect is to put us on a meat free diet, pull our teeth, and slacken our bellies. ?
  24. Kind of? Bring it back immediately! The Maw eats Gorkamorka for breakfast ... (literally)
