  1. It was the new book that had me jumping for joy more than any other of the teases besides the Aether War, Kharadron and continuing narrative of the realm of metal campaigns. The recent Soul Wars stuff has been fantastic with expansions of lore, battle scenarios and even mercenaries but I'm also hoping for more sub-faction love. Like this would not only be a good way to reveal the Flame Scions but tons of other races just as the epic battles of the God-beast campaign did. So here's hoping the Grand Marshall of Chaos can lead us into another flavorful campaign filled with art, war and small factions coming out of the narrative wood-work in the glorious Mortal Realms.
  2. Bumping this. This thread won't do well because there's already hobby threads on this subject. Have you considered using it to post stuff from the Warhammer and Age of Sigmar sub-reddits? Lots of artists their who happily give tips on how they paint their armies like the other day I saw advice on making Stormcasts in the desert and frost Sylvaneth.
  3. That's true, I remember the multiple nerfs the Mourngul had to go through before it was properly balanced. 2015-2016: having two was an auto-win. 2017: not auto-win but one did half the work of your Death army. 2018-2019: great army synergy even before it got battletome inclusion. Forge World would benefit with having GW's level of community feedback on adjusting their stuff. Though I feel that's not their goal anyhow.
  4. Oh, fingers crossed then it'll be big news. Some new art or just sample story snippets would be very welcomed. Oh! Maybe they'll do more with the Realm Walker? When they talked about them I flipped with how they turned a Narrative tournament custom warscroll into a rpg element.
  5. They'd definitely go up better if that was the case but there's still demand by those unable to get them and having a GA mixed force, proxying it as another AoS unit or just using it for narrative play/rpg. I'm not disagreeing with anyone that they should have better rules, premium products should give you that edge. So i'm leaning towards them just wanting the products to be unpopular enough to discontinue with little hassle. Hopefully whatever they get replaced with will get more love as "current" products.
  6. That is interesting. i've been following their Facebook only (I miss their old site) so I missed out on that. Well I certainly am drooling at the mouth for their Soulbound release in April but if they're juggling too much then I won't blame them for another push back to ensure quality. I do wish they'd put something tantalizing on their facebook for us, though. Just a scenario pdf for narrative players to use and lore enthusiasts to obsess over would be very welcomed to bide us over until our new adventures in the Mortal Realms.
  7. Wouldn't surprise me if that's the strategy. They would be far from the only company to let a product fall to the wayside to justify cancelling it and make way for more profitable future ones. Exactly! The products here have been sitting around for over a decade. The "don't know what you had until it's gone" syndrome is gonna kick in here. Either demands go up and they finally get people buying again with an easier to manage Made to Order limited run or the outcry is few and they just move on to new products that catch people's eye.
  8. The resurgence of the Agloraxi would do it too. A fire wizard magocracy that during the Age of Myth had armies of golems and giant automatons they forged in Aqshy's furnaces along with the other big weapons we seen since the Firestorm campaign like the Prismakon Lens that focuses enough heat energy to fry continents. Massive lava Golems being AoS' version of imperial knights would be pretty sweet. Though since Wraithfleet showed up at the same time I wouldn't mind a haunted ship "mech" possessed by ghost pirates either.
  9. Yeah, been feeling the withdrawal with the lack of news. Hopefully it means they're just busy getting it ready for early April. On campaigns, I had a few bouncing around my head but one interesting concept I want to run(and expand on) is what I call "the lost children of Ghyran". One of the greatest terrors of venturing towards the edge of the realms is being torn apart/transformed by wild magic still forming the edges in the aether. Ghyran ups this with it's overwhelming life magic by bursting the body apart with new life from exploding into trees to giving birth. So what happens to those children born from the eldritch death of foolhardy wizards and adventurers that dared the edges for power? I need to flesh the idea out more but the babies rapidly growing from the life magic and making their ways back to the heartlands to form villages of strange unnatural humanoids is the center of this. Are they sinister because of their violent creation or because their "parents" were powerhungry magic seekers? Do the Sylvaneth embrace them as children of the realm and fiercely guard them from discovery or let those who know leave their villages? Does the irony of death bringing them to life cause them to be unique necromancers that master both life and death while seeking realmgates to Shyish or possibly opening paths for Nagash's servants to Ghyran? Depending on how things go i'll change things accordingly for my players. Be it for a scary campaign in unnaturally misty groves to a dark secret or a hidden respite of a village where the children save the party from overwhelming odds and Sylvaneth hide them. That's awesome! Bottles was a good friend back when I talked to them on Dakkadakka and were so nice to help me out by giving me a tabletop AI list for a AoS Solitaire game I had in mind for single players. Should've known Bottles was behind another fantastic game after making Hinterlands.
  10. Interestingly it's not just this stuff because my friend showed me FW have been cleaning out a lot of older sculpts including 40k. So I can't say if it is just a storage issue but it feels like they're trying to get a better turnover and dropping stuff just not worth the expense to them. If they could keep this stuff and add more? I'd be more than happy! However if this leads to them doing reboots for better sales (and making future stuff to actually align with GW's battletomes like I hope the rumored Gargant army could) while maybe having Made to Order for this stuff then i'm more than happy with that. We'll see how this goes.
  11. That's quite fair. To me they've just been hanging around for so long when there was so much potential on the AoS table they weren't even tapping into. So best of luck to you and other last chancers but to me it's out with the old and in with the new all the way!
  12. My wish is they'd just rip the band-aid off. Discontinue everything that's not selling or got battletome support and reboot the Monsterous Arcanum with a Bestiary of the Realms. Chamon sky krakens, Ghyran ice jotunns and Aqshy jumping lava serpents oh my!
  13. Well she conjured them as guards and lovers so I imagine they're back in her parts of the 13 continents of Ulgu making sure Malerion doesn't overstep himself while Morathi's away making sure the mortals play nice and get revenge on Nagash for revealing her true form. We got gorgeous Melusai so I say it evens out for now until the big shadowkin releases. Also that Hamilcar novel looks really fun.
  14. I wonder if the rumored gargants army will see a few special models pop up there now? I'm definitely okay with FW dropping old fantasy kits since it makes room for new Age of Sigmar models and realm giants would be right up their alley after that epic Khorne dragon rampaging around Aqshy.
  15. Looks pretty airtight for a comparison. Would love to see artwork of these guys battling Crematorians on the burning Aqshy plains. Just one epic inferno battle. I did not and I love getting every scrap of Vanguard chamber lore I can find! Though I don't find it fully surprising when there's already sentient talking bird people in Ghur from the Hamilcar novels. (I like the irony that thanks to their Age of Myth isolation and former trade power they're fully armored with metal, gold and jewels while it's the human soldiers that have to use leathers, furs and bones because Ghur is so bereft of minerals besides rock.) Really hoping they show up in Beastgrave.
  16. Your Druchii will fit fine both in game and lore. The Cities of Sigmar update gave them some nice buffs and in lore they're renowned pirates and black marketeers throughout the realms. Be it from the Age of Chaos when they had to capture and smuggle in new mounts into the sealed realm of Azyr for the disdainful knights of Order Draconis, the Shadows over Hammerhal having a dashing Privateer hero on a flying ship through the jungles of Ghyran that hangs flayed enemies from the bow to the newly established cities since the Age of Intrigue(2017) having them go about ports like Excelsis in Ghur riding giant crabs to haul cargo and recent lore of them doing stuff like retaking invaded cities by surprise naval attack while a lone Stormcast champion distracted the enemy by defending the inner gates. If you want to look into the loreside I suggest "Heart of Winter", "City of Secrets" and even this audio drama "The Denied" where you can listen to a Knight-Questor converse with a Druchii captain he captured. https://www.blacklibrary.com/audio/age-of-sigmar-audio-dramas/hallowed-knights-the-denied.html
  17. Nerding out over Warscrolls and a heavy cavalry general. My only regret is I used up all my likes today. Oh and a happy anniversary to your first battle upon the Mortal Realms!
  18. Because GW certainly kept up their end of the deal that it'd be a living rule-set that'd continue to update. And once the community interaction factored in it's no wonder we've got the phenomenally fun system we do now with so much content! (Also I was happy with the initial start. Fan-made point systems were balanced, Open play with unrestricted armies was good fun with friends and the joke rules were no different than the stuff they posted on their website during 6th and 7th edition like Bret tourneys that got you extra points for shouting Monty Python quotes or Kislev ice magic that depended on the actual weather outside. Definitely understood the following changes that made AoS more accessible like points but those were really fun times too. )
  19. Another glorious year has past and so too countless more stories and battles in the Mortal Realms! Happy 4th Liberation Day everyone! (I promise i'll actually post on July 4th next time T-T, had uploading problems that made me tardy this time. Phone refused to post the whole picture in the vertical format.) Let's have another epic year!
  20. The Shieldships mentioned in their lore. I could see a lot of fun things they could do with a defensive focused ship be it an slow armored hulk meant to float in front of a armada and either act as cover which uses magnetism to pull in enemy ranged attacks towards it or deploys a barrier bubble around it that reduces damage to allies.
  21. Well I like the sounds of those lists. With shooting nerfed for now it seems builds for max mobility and melee advantage like that will be vital going forward. Hopefully the upcoming Kharadron ShadeSpire warband will give a new firepower advantage to help augment that. Also, white dwarf teaser shown on Community site and Kharadron get their own short story. Haha, I love his idea of a "master key".
  22. I'm of the mind the flesh mushroom outbreak there is caused by their early teaser "Don't look at the Moon". The Shamans probably summon a fragment of the Bad Moon which causes such madness to occur. So my money's on their own endless spell causing the ailment.
  23. Spider staff and the Grot scuttler-like look does make me think Spiderfangs are included but it could just be apart of the aesthetics and that Gloomspike can mesh with the other Grot factions like Ironjawz does. Minijawz so to speak.
  24. I have hopes for them getting a tome, they certainly feature in the recent novellas and audio dramas enough (Red Hours even has some duardin background drama and when he was cursing he said "Ulthur" among the other ancestor gods names so there may be a new duardin god too), so there's a good chance as far as that's concerned. Thing is they're always mixed in with the rest of civilization be it building the fortresses on the commands of Lord-ordinators or to hold lands taken by the Freeguild. You do get independent clans though like the one that impeded Neave Blacktalon by catching her quarry first and putting it on trial. So there's pretty big odds in both directions of them getting a independent tome or mixed together with other races in a Free cities tome.
  25. Indeed, TK has appeared multiple times from Archaon fighting a warsphinx to a fluff blurb of a Crimson Dynasty using undead chariots to defeat a rampaging Gutbuster army in Shyish. However in Malign Portents you get a more medieval sounding Tomb kings army with purple dragon heraldry and gold chainmail clad Wight kings leading armored halberdiers with undead siege engines while on the Bret call-out side we have a Order of the Sons of Breton in Ghyran (spear of shadows), the kingdom of volpone in Aqshy with it's knight army defending a sacred river along with stuff like the Three Duchies or the honorable Sir Roggen and the Knights of the Furrow who worship the Lady of Leaves(Alarielle). They're in the lore but at the same time they're just frames for the setting as without their World-that-Was history all you have is generic ancient tomb skeletons and feudal knights whose model lines were heavily loaded down with metal and resin with only a handful of good plastic. So I definitely don't blame them for using the opportunity to clean house while keeping some footnotes around for players to use in the lore at least. It's better in my view to overhaul the armies anyway so they can actually stand out in the new setting like they did with so many others. Turn Tomb Kings into Crypt Empires as entire civilizations of ancient soldiers, mages and primordial skeleton beasts rise up from the Age of Myth and make an Orders of the Realms as the numerous knightly orders from Azyr to Shyish sally out and defend civilization with lance, faith and fantastical beasts. Also hoping for a Spider Grot battletome, I think the lore they've gotten has been pretty neat and could be expanded on further. They should get the DoK treatment and get more of those spider hybrids from Silver Tower as infantry. Also, new Audio drama just dropped today. The humble Wanderer hero Prince Maesa journeys to Ghur to hunt down a Mourngul. The free audio extract is very nice. https://www.blacklibrary.com/prod-home/new/advent-2018-21-hungerfiend-mp3.html
