  1. I am still trying to find time to finish my army and get games in! Looking forward to meeting some local players Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Really good tips. I would also recommend trying the scenarios from the pack ahead of time. Blood and glory, gift from the heavens and border wars. Get used to how you play them with your army if you haven't already. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. As for feedback on the prizes, this really is far better than anticipated. Its nice to see a range of awards also rather than just winning the tourney. Really knocking it out of the park so far. Also, I dont know what you have for your gaming tables, but if needed we can bring our tables neoprene battlemat if needed or you are short.
  4. Holy Fish Sticks this makes things very interesting! Time to start knobbling the opposition Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. On the day I believe fella when you check in. I'm super excited! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Love the heide knight aesthetic, was wondering how long it would be until someone ran with it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. The army is nearly done, now its just a case of trying to improve the standard of my painting so you don't all recoil in horror on the day! How you getting on with your Ironjawz? Nurgle seems like the easy route to me. I think I could do an army well but I wouldn't be challenging myself and I am not really a fan of how they play, very tough tanky army that soaks everything up. Tzeentch I have not really looked at in all honesty because they look very hard to paint, requiring a lot of wet blending for the colour transitions and I think it may be too much of a challenge at this stage. I have been thinking about stormcast, as an abandoned chamber that have lost the favour of sigmar. I love writing narrative to fit my armies so that is already a huge tick in the box for me, they have easy to paint figures, allowing me to paint them well and improve ( although the new gryph hound and dracoth stuff will provide a big challenge) and it will allow me to have a load of kits to draw from for conversions. In all honesty they didn't do much for me until I saw the starter set painted up in your store. the models actually are pretty funky! Anyway, I need to drop the Mrs in the city for an interview today so you may find me browsing through your stock later trying to work out what to get next!
  8. It seems like its always 'WIPWednesdays' and never 'Finally bloody finished Fridays' in my house
  9. I am also looking for a new project and am trying to resist the urge of pulling the trigger until they are released. Fingers crossed for March
  10. I am not much of a painter but the conversion I am working on Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. It has a bit of a resemblance to the thundertusk/stonehorn kit. specifically the leather straps on the back of the model that meet under a metal plate. is it chainmail or fur? It looks too battleworn to be duardin from how i assume they will be going. Lots of nicks which doesnt fit with the aesthtic of master crafting dwarves. My guess is Chaos or Destruction if it is AoS
  12. Long time no see. Things got crazy and I have neglected this blog. I am currently identifying invertebrate species for the BTO and rushing to try and meet university deadlines and juggling my finances. This has all lead to me not doing as much here as I wanted to. So what has been happening? Earlier in the year I set myself a few resolutions for 2017. Namely these were to attend some events, stick to painting and to become more of a community advocate. Despite the crazy stuff going on in the real world I am actually doing pretty well on this. My army is nearing completion to table top standard. I still need to paint a gargant, convert 3 ogors and paint up two riders for my stonehorn/thundertusk. My first tournament is looming up, The Titans event at Athena Games hosted by @Jamie Grinstead and Co. ( anyone interested in attending or learning more can find the event information here: And I have taken it upon myself to try and create a sort of primer for new and returning players to the hobby. It aims to be a compilation of basic tips and advice for people to refer to, collated from members of the community. It can be found here: I have also managed to get several games in, playing a few scenarios to help me get used to my army and geared up for tournament play. I haven't had much variety of opponents but the games I have played have been very insightful. So with that all said, whats next? I am looking to start a new project after Titans and to bench my Ogor army. It felt like a rushed army for the tournament and it doesn't have the level of conversions in it that I wanted. So I am looking for a new army. I currently am leaning towards a nurgle/chaos themed army however it seems like very well trodden ground and I would like to try something a bit different with a strong theme and a lot of conversion opportunities. I have been considering something within the Order camp or sticking to destruction however nothing has grabbed my attention yet. Perhaps I should wait for the years new releases? Or I may throw myself into something if an idea takes me. I really love low fantasy dark stuff and #Aos28 has been a huge inspiration for things project wise. What I am really looking for is something that has centrepiece models that i can get stuck in with the green stuff and kitbashing to really highlight my passion within the hobby. If you have any ideas for goods armies, let me know in the comments. Till next time
  13. In the real world I am an ecologist so I have always had the romance of doing a lifelike sylvaneth army but I never can find the time! I am currently finishing up my ogre army for a tournament and trying to decide what to collect next for a big project army. Cherry blossom sylvaneth sounds like a really good theme though! I seem to be torn between wanting to do an army that is really unpopular (Hipster also) and wanting one that plays well. They dont usually go hand in hand!
  14. You are not alone, I think a lot of us have similar tales behind why we are now getting into the hobby and many of us have been drawn back. I myself have been a long time lurker who hadn't really participated since my days as a sprog. However the boom that we are experiencing now makes it the perfect time to dive back in. Looking forward to your painting. Any ideas what armies may draw your attention so far?
  15. Hi all, Just a quick message to say this hasn't been abandoned. I have an essay deadline for Uni tomorrow and I have been doing extra hours at work to get a job done. With any luck I can get back on this tomorrow afternoon. If there is anything you all want added ASAP please pop it in the comments and I will add it when I get a chance, Thanks
  16. @carrigher82 Such a double edged sword for you! I have no problem with people using the trial points, My only concern is if another player attends that doesnt have the extra models to fill that out. Then again, I never see Fyreslayers players so its unlikely hah
  17. I have kinda been reserving judgement until I see how everything else has been affected. Fyreslayers were overcosted however I wouldn't want to be a collector now looking to pay for more models to hit the 2K points mark, as they seem to be quite an expensive range! Tomb kings needed the changes too though im sure many would argue that fact. I am hoping Stonehorn/thundertusk get a points hike, even though I am using them myself I always feel an overwhelming sense of shame when I beat my friends with them haha
  18. Yeah my phone just had a meltdown with the notifications haha! Yeah the price point seems pretty high. Im sure someone out there with very deep pockets will make beautiful centrepiece/diorama out of it though
  19. @Travis Baumann Hey, this is the next bit I will be adding, hoping to sort it out tomorrow evening after work and such. In the mean time a really good place to learn how armies function: https://1d4chan.org/wiki/Age_of_Sigmar/Tactics Take it with a pinch of salt however it does break down units and give you a flavour of how things work in age of sigmar. 1: If you are in open play you can literally take whatever looks fair. You really only need the app ( for the warscrolls, you can look on the GW website and there will be a part under each model you look at that allows you to check their pdf warscrolls if you cannot use the app) and the 4 page rule sheet. The battletomes usually just contain these bunched together and the generals handbook contains scenarios, points and extensive rules for narrative and competitive play. Plenty of armies without battletomes are viable still, my group doesn't have an army in it with a new battletome and they are all very competitive. 2: Keywords are at the bottom of the warscrolls. They tend to relate to abilities on the warscrolls themselves. So for instance if a spell affects monsters only it would only affect units that have the monster keyword 3: Battalions usually come from books and have been made by GW so you access them by buying the book. However they tend to get shared about. https://1d4chan.org/wiki/Age_of_Sigmar/Tactics usually has a list of battalions under each army for you to see which they have access to. all the rest of it is on the warscrolls themselves. They almost resemble a collectable card game with the card explaining the abilities and such. The exception to this is each factions artifacts and allegiance ability which are found in the generals handbook, however they can be found elsewhere on the web what they do ( will find you a link tomorrow ). Sylvaneth are one of the better armies for synergy I feel but really it depends what you want to play for. Rumours have been cast around about Dark aelves having updates this year but I personally wouldnt want to start an army based on rumours. From waht you say you have you could play both of aelf factions under the order alliance or you could go with death which I find very fun. Hope some of this helps and I will be sure to add more to the main post when I have a chance, Cheers
  20. http://www.belloflostsouls.net/2017/02/fw-new-releases-inferno-blood-bowl.html The new Lord of the Rings minis look really cool, especially the new terrain kit, It looks ripe for Sigmarifying
  21. I think I will add something like that into the introduction when I get a chance. Good call
  22. @MrCharisma @KHHaunts Great observations guys, will have a go a little later and see what I can do, currently the great wall of text isn't the most inviting. I am hoping to have a table of contents eventually so reading the entire post is not necessary if you are searching for something specific. Summary list is a great idea as well, will allow people to see whats in it quickly and choose if they need to read that section. Thanks guys
