  1. I feel you are all incorrect. The FAQ people were pointing to ("killing ptwb) was dealing with battalions with two different allegiances in them, like the KO battalions with SCE in them.  It wasnt clear whether PTWB was effected by this until the FAQ answered the PTWB DIRECTLY. By all means limit your options and dont play rules as written. Pestilens battalions are still ok in a nurgle army.

  2. Just now, Euphanism said:

So Pestilen's are legal in a Nurgle army without being allies (because they have the Nurgle keyword), but when they become part of a battalion they have to count as allies?

No wonder my group was confused. ?‍♂️

@5kaven5lave is incorrect. You can absolutely run your foulrain congregation in a nurgle army. No allies. See Maggotkin battletome, page 76 I believe. Middle column last paragraph.

"A battalion can still be a part of any ALLEGIANCE that all its units have on their warscrolls."

So as long as EVERY unit in a battalion has the nurgle keyword, the battalion (and its units) are ALLEGIANT and dont need ally rules :)

  3. If you are playing with a mortal or rotbringer General..there isn’t much you can take that’s useful besides grandfathers blessing. I think virulent blade (add -1 rend to generals melee attacks) and hideous visage are probably two of the best. Pesilent breathe on a harbinger isn’t bad. Still not sure if it’s better then grandfathers blessing.

I played a game against sylvaneth dreadwood recently. Wheel started at the worst spot possible IMO (stage 3). When it was my turn 2 and it ticked go 4, I used he blessing to move it to 5. Getting that debuff really helped.

  4. @hughwyeth

With more paint of course! :P

I dont think it will be a problem..? I know the colors and recipe I used. Plus its flesh so variations are fine. If it doesnt look the same.. add more shades and drybrushes and it will blend! lol

Plus Im going to add those GW creeping vines all over him.

  5. Tried positioning a branch busting through his "shoulder" as if roots broke through flesh. This made a nice platform for ethrac to stand on.

I REALLY like the roots bursting through... Its nice that ethracc has a spot to stand on but he hides the dope roots conversion! BLAST! Maybe I keep the roots, and just stick ethrac on the base....

Dont mind the string. On the tree is is holding it together tight as glue dries. Around the roots because poster tac not strong enough to hold as I viewed it from all angles and for pictures.

I Have to confess Ive never considered this One, for Only once in a Battle and Only 1 Step.

When usually do You use The Blessing?

I use it every game. I’ll be on 5 then let it tick to 6. Then if I need healing..grandfathers blessing it forward, or use grandfathers blessing it back to 5 for he defensive buff then next turn it’s another disease roll.

Hmm, not sure. I think compositionally the horn works best? If I recall, ethrac was the serious one of the three? I think on the tentacle doesn't quite suit in that sense?

He is more manic then serious. Paranoid, yet clever. Devious and sinister.

The only other thing I can recommend is possibly incorporating the gnarlmaw somehow, like making that right leg more of a tree stump (with the gaping gnarlmaw mouth) and adding the tubes.  It's a great idea.

That about using a Gnarlmaw as the tree growing out of his hump but the footprint is much to big. Good god that would have been cool. But I love your idea of incorporating the Gnarlmaw. I’m certainly going to explore that!

  9. Speaking of the Glott brothers. I started work on a conversion for them! To match the rest of my army, Im having a giant tree growing out his hump. Im positioning it right where ethrac stands, so I have to find a new place for Ethrac. Otto is just fine where he is, although I may alter his pose. Here are some pictures of me working on the concept. Im not super excited about either of these three options. On the base seems boring. On his tentacle a little ...over the top/not realistic? Although I love the idea of Ghurkk protecting his wizard bro with his big tentacle :P. Third option him stepping on ghurkks head makes that side of the model WAYYY to busy.

Something else I thought of this morning is having another tree brach poke out through the "shoulder" area with the tenacle and position etrac standing on that as if a platform. Probably have to remove a couple of the small horns but im ok with that! Nervous about working on a conversion thats fully painted! Here goes nothing. Want to make glottkin the centerpiece of my nurgle army for NOVA. He single handedly got me runner up best painted last year at NOVA, so want to do him justice and go big on the conversion!

I think you're right that the blight cyst is our best one drop or very low drop possibility, but I'm not a fan of it in general.  Too expensive for the points IMO.

Harbinger is very good but you have a lot of command abilities that you want to use and not enough command points to do so turn after turn, so their effectiveness is not going to be as good.

    Bring Geminids

Very lucid advice. I plan on using EITHER the LoB or Harbinger command abilities. Both together seems like overkill. The LoB is there as a req for the battalion and its nice he can use the rustfang.. which I view as top tier artifacts. With units being in assault turn 2, triggering in the combat phase AFTER moving and charging, along with not needing a dice roll (like favoured poxes, and curse of the leper) is INCREDIBLY useful. And in a blight cyst your kings are EFFECTIVELY rend -2!

Im am considering dropping the Harbinger for a poxbringer, giving him the favoured poxes and the witherstave, rolling the extra 40 points into the +80 I'm at for 120 and seeing what I could do with that. But glotty with a 4+/5++ and the ten kings nearby with a 5++ also make them devastating.

For discussion: Is -1 to hit in combat better/the same/worse then having an extra 5++ "feel no pain" save??? I guess it depends on what is attacking you... and in that case which is better vs what type of attacks/enemy units??

  11. Hey guys, I need some help with my competitive list I'll be bringing to NOVA

I Think I am going with a blight cyst.. even though I am still hesitant about its effectiveness vs the cost. It seems the most competitive now that plaguetouched is gone. Removing The glotkin from the list WONT happen. He is an auto include for me not soley on effectiveness but as my centerpiece and a HUGE conversion I will be doing.

Questions 1: I am hesitant about the harbingers effectiveness in this list. I can decide if he is worth it or if I should take an extra 5 blightkings....? Being able to take the witherstave is kind of the tipping point for me to keep him in. Also because I would waste the second artifact.. That and I spent a butt load of time on a kick a$$ conversion >_<

Questions 2: With 80 points leftover should I take a 20/30 point endless spell +1 cp (shackles, palisade, or malevolent maelstrom - avoiding the swords as I am chaos) or a Plague priest. Here is the list..its pretty basic I guess.

    Allegiance: Nurgle
    Mortal Realm: Ghyran

    Leaders
    The Glottkin (420)
    - Lore of Malignance: Blades of Putrefaction
    Harbinger of Decay (160)
    - General
    - Trait: Grandfather's Blessing
    - Artefact: The Witherstave
    Lord of Blights (140)
    - Artefact: Rustfang
    Gutrot Spume (140)

    Battleline
    10 x Putrid Blightkings (320)
    5 x Putrid Blightkings (160)
    5 x Putrid Blightkings (160)
    40 x Chaos Marauders (200)
    - Axes & Shields

    Battalions
    Blight Cyst (220)

    Total: 1920 / 2000
    Extra Command Points: 2
    Wounds: 159

I'm kind of waffling on either this list or the one I posted a while back with

Glotkin, gutrot, Festus, Chaos Lord on demonic mount, 10 kings, 5 kings, 5 kings, 40 maruaders, 10 knights with glaives.  (no battalion)

Yeah, but is so sad because I really like The daemons:(

    And marauders are painfully old

Just use pox walker models from 40k with some light conversions to remove chem tanks and gun bits. I used skeleton kit shields as well

Basically what I'm doing with Archaon except with sheet metal from home depot.  They also have the crates I need, so it's a one-stop shop (except for the magnets).  Only thing I've found is you have to check to make sure that the specific sheet metal is magnetic since not all of the stuff they sell is!  I usually bring a magnet with me when I purchase (or borrow one from home depot's magnet aisle lol)

home depot actually has INCREDIBLE deal on magnets. These are the ones I use for almost everything. You have to order online.. but they ship to store for free. the price is well worth the couple days it takes to get there.

    https://www.homedepot.com/p/Magcraft-Rare-Earth-1-4-in-x-1-16-in-Disc-Magnet-80-Pack-NSN0657/204721317?cm_mmc=hd_email-_-Pickup_Reminder-_-20180628_PP_ET_Merch_Pickup_Reminder_3129959-_-product_desc__W928746812

The ONLY thing I dont like about using sheet metal is there is no "lip" to grab it out of the crate. But you can cut it to exact size of the crate so it works out MORe times then not. It just so happens this cookie sheet I used is a PERFECT match for this one particular crate I got. But it sounds like you got everything under control! I will make a small suggestion to wrap the edges of the sheet metal in a layer of duct tape. Edges Are SHARP after cutting. I know from experience >_<

Need a taller box.  I would never leave home without a Glottkin in the new edition, especially for Nurgle mortals.  I gotta say, I feel your pain though.  Working on an elegant transport solution for Archaon currently.  Hint: not sure there is one!

I put magnets at the bottom of glotkin and stuck him to a cookie tray from target. I took that cookie try to "the container store" and found this "milk crate" style container with handles and an open top. I magnetized all my clunky models and stuck them on the same tray. GUO, plague drones, horticulous.....

I Want to Buy a glottkin model but is Impossible to transport! Im using a Plastic box with magnets but even with That The model is so Tall!

Did you see my set-up I posted about a few pages back?

Im looking into going to a tournament in november, 1000 points, and this would be my first tournament ever. Now, beign a fluffbunny player mostly I have big troubles coming up with a list. Would love to include Morbidex Twiceborn and maybe even Horticulous Slimux.

Could you guys give me a few pointers on if this is even possible or if I should just give up on the idéa to have Morbidex in a tournament list.

    /Cheers Rangeltoft

Tossed this together.  A list for Horticulous:

    Allegiance: Nurgle
    Mortal Realm: Ghyran

    Leaders
    Horticulous Slimux (220)
    Poxbringer Herald of Nurgle (120)
    - General
    - Trait: Grandfather's Blessing
    - Artefact: The Witherstave
    - Lore of Virulence: Favoured Poxes

    Battleline
    30 x Plaguebearers (320)
    10 x Plaguebearers (120)

    Units
    3 x Plague Drones (200)

    Endless Spells
    Soulsnare Shackles (20)

    Total: 1000 / 2000
    Extra Command Points: 20
    Allies: 0 / 400
    Wounds: 68

Here is one for Morbidex. One interesting note.. I THINK his ability to add a model to a unit of nurglings would have no limit.. as in if you start with three. you could go above its starting cost. Someone want to point me to something that would prevent that???

    Allegiance: Nurgle
    Mortal Realm: Ghyran

    Leaders
    Poxbringer Herald of Nurgle (120)
    - General
    - Trait: Grandfather's Blessing
    - Artefact: The Witherstave
    - Lore of Virulence: Favoured Poxes
    Morbidex Twiceborn (260)

    Battleline
    5 x Putrid Blightkings (160)
    5 x Putrid Blightkings (160)

    Units
    3 x Plague Drones (200)
    3 x Nurglings (100)

    Total: 1000 / 2000
    Extra Command Points: 20
    Allies: 0 / 400
    Wounds: 84

I The biggest weakness I see is lack of bodies for objectives.  Thinking about removing Blessed Sons, Harbringer and Gutrot to add in 2 units of 15 Chaos Warriors or 3 units of 10 Chaos Warriors.

I think this would be a mistake. Blessed sons and harby makes those kings an immovable brick that can also dish out a butt load of mortal wounds and regular wounds. Most objectives are tap and go. if you need to leave 5 behind to guard an important one then you still have 10 with lop, sorc and harby.

As for Glottkin I'm not really sold on him.  Hes amazing, but very squishy and takes 1/4 of your army (1/3 if you include the 40 marauders he needs).  For 20(?) points more you can get 30 Plaguebearers and a GUO, who have more staying power.

He is squishy if he is run into the heart of the enemy like a beatstick. I wouldnt treat him the same I would Prince Vordraior say a war mammoth. He is a support character who is also really good in combat. He makes marauders potentially one of the most devastating units in our army and also one of the best tarpits in the game. Plus I spent WEEKS painting him and he single handedly won me runner up best painted at NOVA last year. So Its VERY VERY hard for me to not take him.

I like your list a LOT. Especially with plague cyst and blessed sons in there. Im clouded with "model bias". I spent a LOT of time converting horticulous and painting him to a high standard (for me) and since my army is HEAVILY converted to be in the middle of a garden it is hard to not include the Grandfather's head gardener! And now I am getting that same attachment to the CLoDM! I need tos top converveting before I run out of lists!! haha. Let me know how the game went PLEASE!

I'm a big fan of the GUO with the bell and blade, Favored Poxes, Cogs and Pestilence Breath.   Its a wizard and a tar pit.

Why would you give cogs and favored poxes to the GUO? If it went off he cant move and then you would be wasting 3 casts next turn! Also GUO with cogs, endless gift would be straight up unkillable. LOL

Guys! Today I Used 30 plague bearers and used LoBlights to Get -4/-2 hittings and My opponent Get a Little mad with That do you think is unFair?  The Both Buffs Stack dont They?

Tell him tough ******. Its not a cheeky gotcha-hammer move.. its a warscroll ability combined with a command ability.

  19. @wayniac I will listen to video and maybe give plague cyst some more testing. Thanks for the link. Agreed on horticulous. He just does everything well except move fast. But he is a snail so.. lol

Do they talk about blessed sons at all? It’s a big battalion cost but for 100 points it’s good. Mystic shield on all units, artifact and cp for 100...

Also while the harbinger is nice, the blightkings got so much tougher with the extra wounds. 25% -30% tougher actually. Which is the similar to a 5+ fnp. So for a 160 points for him to twiddle thumbs, soak command points and not add a whole lot in combat...meh. I think an extra unit of blightkings would be a better use of 160 points. They are just so good.
