  1. There we go! This month: 1 Deepkin Warcry Warband: 4 Thralls, 4 Reavers, 2 Eels, 1 Soulrender (big head strt on this one) 1 Cypherlords warband (if I can find suitable heads. otherwise another warband) IF i finish the above I'll buy the catacombs set and paint up the terrain before january.
  2. So that's a winter errata then? 😂 Seems pretty janky if i'm honest. But those little unintentional interactions are very cool. Or maybe it'll stick as you can still counter play it a little bit.
  3. 1 great to see how those sentinels have learned the little mermaid lesson and now want to live underwater. 2. great to read the use you got out of the sharks. So thanks for that. 3. The midnight cloud thing is basically: cloud says can’t shoot me. Allegiance says you have to shoot me. Opponents army 404’s if both are true? have I understood that right?
  4. Yeah I still struggle to understand how they... struggle with that so much.
  5. haha yup. Although if i'm completely honest if they didn't do stuff like the malign portents updates, new scenarios, special sieges rules, cities of death, Endless spells!, all that good stuff. Then even by adding new armies I would get bored of the hobby. Because I take at least a year to paint a new army, so just updating the armies wouldn't do it for me.
  6. Haha have you never played capture the flag* as a kid in a dark forest? It’s literally a game of screening. Or watched rugby. or even the first few battles in the series vikings. what I like most about the free form that their are specific advantages to stringing out and keeping your unit compact. It adds depth without adding extra rules. * in case it doesn’t translate. 10+ kids per team and you hang a flag in your territory. On the word go you need to grab the flag of the other team and bring it back. If you’re tagged you need to restart at your own flag. Brilliant fun. But both teams usually have conga line as a screen to prevent the opponent getting to their objectives.
  7. I though it was just general flashes from time before and yet to come. That's why their coins called glimmerings right? Because you see glimmers of your future which might be worth more.
  8. first part a very good point. But whenever have GW made and more importantly kept rules simple? Second part I always struggle with that idea. Just like you said people burn out painting, people struggle with the numbers. There are so many downsides to massive units as well that I think it very likely that it also hurts the sales. Especially if you make them very expensive.
  9. Personally I really really hope not. you say units have become bloated, my issue with the direction of AoS is that the rules have become bloated. If they then add different unit structures with all the rules that come with it in fantasy... Even with half the rules of reforming, flanking, ranks. It was impossible to get friends interested due to all those rules upon rules upon exceptions and special circumstances. No I'm very happy that those rules are gone. I do agree that elite units need a bit of a boost, or hordes a bit of a hit. Maybe not both be better at scoring objectives and fighting due to having more models.
  10. Can I just say. With that voluptuous hair, two blades, arrogant sword on shoulder pose.... I think House Esher is joining the fray. Direchasm is a Necromunda housing block.
  11. For what it’s worth I’d say it’s in the word pick. I as the casting player pick. So I pick target 1. Resolve mortal wounds. . Pick target 2. Etc. but here, and I feel online as well, with area of attack spells, multiple target spells, everything really it’s the attacking player who decides who to attack first. but I’ll let it rest. Just out of curiosity the people who say it’s the defending player who decides where to start. Do they have any sources or similar circumstances?
  12. Oh sorry I misunderstood the question then. but then the answer is quite simple right? The attacking player chooses the order. just like with any action. The player that makes the action decides.
  13. But the wound allocation happens after the attack sequence. in this case a spell. Which happen d3 times according to the spell. then when the attack is resolved the defending players gets to allocate to that specific unit. See above. so to me the order seems clear: I cast spell. Roll d3 for amount of targets. Pick the first target unit. Resolve attack which is just rolling for d3 mortal wounds. You allocate them one at a time to the unit that I target. once that is done. I move on to the second and third unit if I rolled high enough to select them. The harvester rule does let you roll the ‘harverst’ rule after every model is slain it seems. But I’m not familiar enough with those rules to be honest. im struggling a bit with the interpretation you suggested as it would mean, Imo, to fuse three separate attacks together. (Which immediately breaks down if it’s units with different mortal wounds saves in this example)
  14. First off this is going to be spoiler free as I haven’t finished the book yet but: Can I just say the new Covens of Blood is really blowing my mind with little tidbits. to the point that I feel the writer might have overstepped a bit. what do you think. Contrary to the gotrek novel this suggest that the world that was, is common knowledge.
  15. comet's call specifies you 'roll separately for each' so the mortal wounds suffered are specific to those target units. So you treat all D3 as separate instances. "Mortal wounds caused at other times are allocated to models in the target unit as soon as they occur" So the mortal wounds are allocated by the defending player to a model in the unit. (I think you are right that it reads like it's written for attacks that target one unit. Which are most of them to be fair. But comet's call has D3 separate targets for purposes of this rule and every one suffers a specific amount of mortal wounds per target.) Regarding the second part of your question. It would very rarely matter, but since it's an action by the casting player I would say it's the casting player not the player who allocates the mortal wounds. I'll see if I can find the time to find some actual sources to support the above. But I feel it's mostly down to the interpretation of the word Target unit. For me there is no argument to be made that it would include all D3 units affected by comets call as one target unit.
  16. And beneath the grotbag scuttlers clock that’s floating by the ceiling.
  17. Haha yeah they are not ideal. I haven’t tried pinning on metal models in a long time. (Albion giants being the last) but is that an option? Cut of the slotting piece. File the underside flat. Small pin trough it. and that champion model 😍
  18. Love those execution models. They are so much fun to paint. Still have 10 somewhere in a box. and Hag Karun has moved them a bit forward 😁
  19. Haha tell that to my gravedigger, halfling, dragon army
  20. I agree tho. The pirate element feels more fandom echo chamber than anything. It started because of the rumour engines that turned out to be part of the kraken eater as far as I can tell. And now it just repeats while, to me at least, the nautical elements isn’t there.
  21. Yeah we got to 1,5 k building up from 1K for newer players. It has a nice amount of synergies without becoming overwhelming but it still has enough to be challenging. the battalion idea is nice as well. that way you could get all kinds of mixed armies going as well. With the prosecutor and KO battalion for example. You do need a big collection thiugh to keep thinks varied On a related note I’m thinking the whole ally system will be replaced with the 1 in 4 system for different sub factions we’ve seen lately. And the game would be better for it I feel.
  22. Yeah good point. he's a strong independent wom... Frostlord. And due to not needing synergies, it's speed and being very survivable, it is a great threat to just throw into your opponent while the foot bois take the points.
  23. Its nostalgia. So I’d keep them and just keep adding to them, even if you are never taking both Khorne lords with dog, it’s a nice way to see your own progression. but I have way to many boxes of Armies that don’t see enough play.
