They pair very well with Sisters of the Thorn as the +2 save dance (and if in cover) means they are bouncing mortal wounds back on a 3+.  Re-rolling saves too.  The classic 1987 models alone mean that's an option worth looking at.

Honestly hard to say but I would be more shocked if you didn't get a good 3-4 more years of playing them.  GW is stocking stores with the kits.  That alone is significant as shelf space is key in a retail store.

Guardians of the Forest was a Graham MacNeil novel released in August 2005 for the reboot of the army.  Guy Haley has done both a short story and audio drama on a Nomad Prince (who rides a great stag) set in the current time line that is quite good.  Buy them both to support more Wanderer stuff (Guy has indicated he wants to continue with the character).

Are they on Black Library? ...do you get them through the GW site?

It would be really interesteing to see how they are portrayed in the fluff set in AoS! I'll also check out the Guardians too.

    Cheers :)

Will wanderers get fazed out? Doubtful, most of our boxes are the white age of sigmar boxes with round bases, and we do have allegiance traits and synergies inside with our units.

Is it a great army where you have a decent shot of winning each game? Well thats debatable, but honestly, its a no, we have a uphill battle and why i can understand the nerf, the hit to realm wanderers hurts.

Will this army be supported in the future? If games workshop see it as a viable avenue for sales and the story warrents it, then yes. Narrativly, Slaanesh is our best bet for some limelight, we as a community of players need to show games workshop that wanderers has a fan base. So play in local stores, pist up pictures on thier facebook page, buy the ebooks that we have.

    Hey @adreal

I loved the Orion trilogy, but what other Wanderers lierature is there?

I didn't know that they released anything mentioning Wanderers, except for the core rules book, Order book, and possibly Sylvaneth book?

  3. @Seadee- Caravan of the Golden Stag is an awesome name for a Wanderers army! :)

    I've called mine "Hunter's Moon".

I think that the War/Shadow Dancers could have been a really amazing combat unit for us.

My Wanderers are taking solace back at the forest for a while, except for maybe some use as allies. I genuinely can't use them well enough to actually win a match. I was having some luck with the GHB2017 realm-wanderers set-up, but now in GHB2018/V2 I don't stand a chance. I feel like I'm just playing to see how little I lose by, or how long I can last.

I'm starting to build up a Deepkin army, so a Waywatcher will be welcome.

  4. @Aezeal, I completely agree wit your last few posts.

We simply don't have enough hitting power to capture objectives, but I was able to defend mine lie a boss.

I played my first game of AoS 2.0, I used the Waystone pathfinder list.

    • Waystone pathfinder battalion
    • Waywatcher - General/ masterful hunter
    • Nomad Prince - Starcaster longbow
    • Spell Weaver - viridescent shawl
    • 2x Waywatchers
    • 2x10 Glade Guard
    • 1x20 Eternal Guard
    • 1x5 Sisters of the Thorn
    • 1x10 Wild Riders (defintely not what they were in 8th)
    • 1x10 Sisters of the Watch
    • 1x3 Kurnoth Hunters(w/greatswords)
    • 1x Quicksilver swords (Endless spell) ...this was amazing!!!

I really liked the list, but unfortunately I didn't really have the opportunity to use th bonus shooting due to the board set-up etc.

Definitely wouldn't take 10 Wild riders again, but overall enjoyed.

Addendum: also I really REALLY felt the difference not having our usual realm wanderer allegaince ability.

I honestly didn't think it was broken before, it just allowed us to actually flee somewhere. Maybe the hidden paths trait was too exploitable, but that's something that they could have amended specifically.

Speaking of painting, I really like the greenish skin of the GW Wild Riders. Does anyone know how they got that look, or a similar one? I checked the WarhammerTV channel but while there's a tutorial on painting the stags there's not one for the riders.

I just tried Ionrach/Biel-tan (watered)/Deepkin/Pallid Wych but it may be a little too yellow for me.  Maybe a Waywatcher glaze will fix it?  I think next I'll try Rakarth/Biel-tan/Pallid Wych next.

I used Rotting flesh/ Nurgling green, then washed with bieltan green, then highlights of rotting flesh, and for a final highlight of Nurgling green mixed with a little bit of white.

    I hope this helps :)

This also might be a silly question, but does the missile units need to be in their own missile range to be able to shoot the enemy unit within 12” of the Nomad Prince that he nominates? ^^

    I would presume so.

I don't think a unit of Sisters of the Thorn would be able to shoot beyond their 9" or other units getting a bonus 6" to top up the range.

  7. Hey everyone,

Can I please get some confirmation that this is a valid Waystone Pathfinder list.

I haven't chosen any artefacts, but will take the Wanderers allegiance and will be playing a Nurgle army in the realm of Life.

I'm open to suggestions on the artefacts, command traits, and who to use as general.

    Nomad Prince

    Spell Weaver

    3x Way Watcher

    1x10 Wild Riders

    1x5 Sisters of the Thorn

    1x20 Eternal Guard

    2x20 Glade Guard

    1x Sisters of the Watch

    Battalion: Waystone Pathfinder

    Total: 2000.

    Thanks :)

Game on Sunday, I'll give feedback. :D

Edit: ...Also it's my first time using the Waystone Pathfinder battalion and playing at 2000points.

  8. So to keep up morale, I'll show my army project.

I am committing to fully painting each unit before building the next. I may start a blog on TGA if anyone is interested. I hoping to capture a tropical theme.

My inital inspiration for the eels was a Blue Ribbon Eel.

    I hope you like.

In terms of army building, so far I have a generic Akhelian King and 3 Ishlaen guard (here's to hoping they keep the rend resistance)

  9. I haven't got the app, but I hear that it has updated all of the warscrolls today.

This has been after the FAQ update, as the ID Leviadon was updated in the FAQ then given additional missile weapons on the app.

Can anyone please share whether there have been any Wanderers updates?

  10. I just found this whilst looking through the faq's: https://whc-cdn.games-workshop.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/age_of_sigmar_grand_alliance_order_designers_commentary_en.pdf

Q: When I use the Wending Wand, do I still have to set up the unit more than 9" from enemy units? By the same token, if I use the Stalker of the Hidden Paths command trait, must the unit still be set up wholly within 6" of the table edge? A: Yes to both questions.

Q: Do the shields that come with Sisters of the Thorns/Wild Riders models have any special rules? A: No.

Q: Can I use the Waystrider’s Heartseeker Arrow ability on a general that is set up after the battle begins? A: No.

  11. Thanks @awcamawn.

Yeah I'd like to try a unit of 10 actually.  Like you said, they have excellent bravery so that shouldn't affect losses/battleshock too much.

I think I'll use the Waywatcher as a general to get the SotW battle-line, but also take a Nomad Prince because they are awesome!

  12. Hey guys (and gals),

With the new edition coming out and points changes, is there any thoughts on using Wild Riders?

Wild Riders have always been my favourite unit (aesthetically and in 8th edition functionally).

I'd like to ask for some advice on using them. I want to include them and would like some guidance on the role that they fulfil and any combos/ compliments etc?

    Thanks in advance.
