  1. Daybreak Miniatures is the source for STLs for WoW-like orcs. I’ve bought a few in the past (minis, not STLs) and they are really nice.
  2. The confusion is partially justified, but the answer is in a different place. Section 14.3 of the core rules states that the ward allows you to roll a dice to negate a wound or mortal wound. This means that the correct approach to Weird 'Un is: This model has a ward of 4+ against mortal wounds: (i) caused by spells and (ii) [caused by] the abilities of endless spells.
  3. Thanks 😄Truth be told, the santabeards will get darker. This is an exercise in speedpainting and for this I based all the metal parts with Vallejo Silver or Steel. For the gold I then apply thinned Nazdreg Yellow, while the beards (and some other metal parts) will get a hefty amount of Drakenhof Nightshade.
  4. Funny how different people can feel about this. AoS already requires a lot of cognitive effort; for me, the passive time during the opponent's turn is much appreciated. When do I swallow my beer & pretzel if I have to analyse and react constantly?
  5. Only if you accept the initial assumption that not all armies are created equal. Otherwise your statement might be hard to swallow for the factions that have 6-7 warscrolls (I'm not counting leaders), while others have twice the number.
  6. I have two endless spells and a squad of Arkanauts planned for July. Let's see how this turns out.
  7. It is an Oldhammer concept, and rightly so; witch hunters belong in late medieval Holy Roman Empire. We can have humans who seek and fight the taint of Chaos, but they don't have to make the same fashion statement every time. Crimson Court? Good models, weak concept. Fan service.
  8. You are being very nice. This band... the models themselves are ok, I guess, but why even reach for this bland, overused witch hunters trope when there's a whole new world of wonders? What's next? Human pirates band? Forest bowmen band?
  9. More than I expected. Will not break the game in any way - but it is a welcome addition.
  10. Ironclad has been mentioned a few times; as I've just finished mine I have to say that the model may be outstanding, but the the flight stand is a glaring designer's mistake. The current stand may (at least for some time) work for a display piece, but for gaming purposes... just fix this, GW.
  11. This is true with regard to virtually whole Lumineth range (Dawnriders and Wardens may keep their helmets). The model itself is really nice, even if somewhat similar to Isharann Tidecaster.
  12. Done. I’ve never painted anything of this size before - and I’m so, so happy that it’s over. Also rather pleased with the results.
  13. He is very good. But there is also an unnerving moment in the LRL hero phase when the the lady-narrator starts her usual Teclis casts Total Eclipse; Teclis casts Protection of Teclis; Teclis casts Speed of Hysh on himself; Teclis casts Lambent Light on whoever needs to die.
  14. Yes, I was aware that there is a conflict of rules here (sort of), which is not easy to settle if you insist on applying the classic rules on interpretation (does the new rule from AoS 3.0 take precedence or the specific one from the KO tome?). But the correct question is different: Is there any reason to assume that the designers' intent was to immobilize the ships after the unit leaves? Does it make any sense (game-wise) or is it just an unintended interaction? I have my answers and so the way I play is - the unit disembarks (which is the unit's movement) and the ship can freely move.
  15. True. Though I still fail to understand how the problem came into being in the first place. It never crossed my mind (before I learned of this controversy) that you cannot move the ship after disembarking the unit, when the rule states that units cannot join or leave this model’s garrison if it has made a move or flown high in the same phase (they can join or leave before it does so).
  16. So I suspect; my point was that the difference between my rule and the rule will make actual difference in fringe cases only. People will not measure unless it really matters.
  17. Will you actually make any measurement? For me the rule is bases touching or almost touching, if you can't get them together due to the models' shapes and that is good enough.
  18. The effort is relative. People learn and internalise the rules at various pace; I have a close friend who is really into board games. Now, every time we played he used to bring a different game; I could handle this, but past a certain point it just becomes a chore to learn the rules. If you play AoS once a month then maybe it’s better to stick to the core matched battle pack (Contest of Generals).
  19. So cool! These are some bold moves that will really affect the game.
  20. Why? If true, you have an interesting dynamic here. First, you can rank the infantry (good). Second, you have now very strong choices (multiplied objective holding power and/or increased melee damage) to move away from the one drop battalion. Third, all of these (and hopefully battle tactics as well) will only apply to infantry and melee, which should indirectly force a "proper" army composition, building around standard troops.
  21. Definitely; this puts a lot of restriction on KO list building. Funnily enough, when I decide to field typical Ironjawz force (i.e. Bloodtoofs) everything is battleline. Why? Don't know.
