  1. I like rocks and have a subconscious tendency to use them a lot, unless I’ve already planned a very specific basing theme that doesn’t go well with elevations.
  2. Akhelian King (Queen?) done! This completes my Idoneth Warcry warband. I’ve also managed to build, prime and base the whole Eldar Combat Patrol. All in all, a good month.
  3. When I saw a title (Battle Tactics Are the Key to Winning in Warhammer Age of Sigmar) I died a little inside. But it still looks better than the current edition. Not perfect, but maybe acceptable.
  4. Again, in many places you just go to the local hobby / games store, which usually has GW products next to board games, MTG, comic books, RPGs, painting materials an so on. GW branded stores are not always a thing.
  5. This is very much country dependant. In my city the recently opened GW store is... small & expensive, with barely any space to play. At the same time, we have a number of established independent stores with strong communities and various games played. Moreover, using the most popular local shopping platform I can get everything I need cheaper, using way more streamlined sales process and delivered to a parcel locker in 1-2 days. Fun fact: when I found this forum I was actually surprised that GW has a direct online sale - I assumed that they only use their shops (which are actually advertising / gaming clubs) and the online sale is exclusively done by third-party shops.
  6. They have multiple sales channels. And nobody I know buys directly from GW webstore.
  7. Such is the nature of this thread, to constantly speculate & dream, high on hopium and fuelled by pictures from Underworld cards or obscure references seeded in GW books. I think you are correct. I also think (with regard to the recent BoC incident) that there are many factions destined to exist in the lore for infinity without playable models.
  8. You are right, I've forgotten the Soulscryer in the Vanguard box. So, it's 14.
  9. Last time I counted IDK had 11 kits in total (I do not count Underworlds & terrain). Let's check! 1. Thralls 2. Reavers 3. Eels 4. Shark 5. Leviadon 6. Eidolon 7. Akhelian King 8. Thrallmaster 9. Tidecaster 10. Lotann 11. Soulrender I don't know where the above numbers come from.
  10. There are more issues. You are forced to build an army with BTs in mind, as some of them can only be achieved with very specific resources. They also effectively prolong the game - this may not be true for experienced players, but for casuals it certainly is.
  11. They removed GT and described BT as Warhammer Age of Sigmar’s equivalent to secondary objectives. We’ll have a whole article on changes to battle tactics soon! This leaves some hope that the whole BT concept has been reworked. A small hope, obviously, as the designers seem to be very fond of BTs, but still.
  12. The Megaboss is 8 3/3/1/2, fight on death and gets bigger as a reward for fighting and killing. I used him a lot in smaller games (1000 pts) and he always felt like a very competent melee brawler. He's very slow, though, and all his specific artefacts were better suited for the Maw-krusha version.
  13. I understand you very well! For me, the answer (or at least a temporary solution) is: smaller games. A Warcry band is much more manageable than a full army and still lets you taste the faction. For WH40k I recently agreed with a friend that we should try Combat Patrol - a single box is, again, something I can reasonably plan for. Could such projects grow into „proper” armies? Maybe, but I try not to pressure myself.
  14. And away goes my hope for heroes joining units to end the Age of (wholly within) Bubbles 😢
  15. Still, mechanical customisation helps, as do various assembly options- and both are largely missing from AoS.
  16. This is half-true. People complain because they feel that AoS is just a small step away from enabling this option and for some reason the designers are not willing to take that step. The newly revealed Weirdnob Shaman is Wizard (1). Would it break the game if there was “Wizard (2) + 30 points” written on this warscroll?
  17. Based on WHFB? With the right setup (Blood Dragons bloodline) you had a killing machine like no other, save perhaps a Chaos Lord. Slaughtering whole blocks of infantry in single activation was not uncommon. Think Megaboss on Maw-krusha level of melee threat with some magic abilities on top of that.
  18. I don’t know… I use a lot of contrasts and while I’m not any kind of expert painter, I can usually get decent results. Scales, fur, leather, bone - these are all “easy” surfaces to work with and so Seraphon or OBR are indeed Contrast-friendly. But hanging additional trinkets on an armour-clad and cloaked human model does not make it easier to use contrasts. I would argue that it is in fact more difficult, as contrasts are not necessarily well suited for such density of different textures, materials and elements.
  19. We still don’t know if they are able to join units.
  20. Good point. In a way, this hobby is very akin to gym routine - you need at least moderate consistency if you want to see the effects - and the effects fuel the motivation.
  21. Depends on the magnets. If too strong, you will have some problems, but with proper magnets minis just slide on the tray and the tray itself is almost flat and doesn't get in the way. For small units (3-5-6) these trays are on overkill, but for big infantry blocks they speed up a game significantly. That is, once you simply get the habit of putting the models base to base in ranks and thus stop concerning yourself with coherency rules and related positioning shenanigans.
  22. It dries up because the pot cap usually gets dirty and it quickly becomes impossible to close the pot properly. So, the caps need regular cleaning - which is just poor design.
  23. Correct. If the models are magnetised, these trays work like wonder.
