  1. Chorfs takes also from Persians (achemenid and Sassanids). Instead the "whole demon sacrificial worshipping " is mostly taken from the Carthaginian and the Caananites human sacrifices as Romans and Israelites talked about them (the whole "bovine" iconography of Moloch and sometimes Baal, the being burnt alive part and so on). Seeing the warcry warband i think GW will stick to that (also considering TOW) probably just "modernizing" some aspects.
  2. I like the "new exo armor",just wanting to se the full helmeted options though. Also:i was watching again the first Votann Trailer and the various shadows does not seems to be any of the models already shown...so probably the trailer was full of heroes?
  3. They can't change the whole cities concept though. But who knows....it would not makes sense to eliminate elves or dwarves from cities. Even if gw wants to squat the whfb leftovers they could still finally make some azyrite\Sigmarite dwarves and elves that worship Sigmar and the pantheon, and the whole religious thing should just be expanded to them (dawnrbinger crusades uses the help of DOK even so...).
  4. MMM.... I like the warband but don't seem too distant to old world empire. I think some "non-human" elements would have improved the rendition....something like a dark elf torturer or dwarf gunman. Hoping for some "aosifying" in the project like over-the-top technology for ironweld, more mystical\holy elements to Order of Azyr(i liked the priestess\prophet of Cursed city) and obviously a new look for freeguild.
  5. The tenth was expected before that dubious leak though. IIRC even Valrak (who got everything acccurate so far) said something down the line about "the tenth approaching".
  6. Liking Angron as model but....Khorne is boring. And another "big reveal" for 40k is just a letdown when they already clogged the hypetrain for Votann with HH\CSM\WE\Imperal guard...:P. Only good news is that probably Blades will get Khorngors. I'm a bit sad we're left in shallow waters for some time tbh...we don't even know what destruction tomes are arriving but 40k got spoiled nearly everything already. GW imho is dropping the ball hard considering AOS,and the next year we'll get the tenth edition of 40k so probably another year of "space marines". Also a thought i got today: Votann got Ironkin, and the name is similar to Gholemkind...what if, as Votann already borrows from KO,ironkins are a "foreshadow" for some Gholemkind in Aos? I could see something like that.
  7. I hope Bloodbowl will finally get the chaos dwarves team.
  8. Imho we're getting Sons of Behemath this fall surely. They Rumor engines and also Sons are a "quick" battletome can could get shoved in a week release with 1 multipart model without too much problems.
  9. Revelaed the full Hearthkyn warriors unit: https://www.warhammer-community.com/2022/06/20/the-mighty-hearthkyn-are-the-core-of-the-leagues-of-votanns-armies-and-here-they-are/ Some of the heads are a bit small but i think is the armor egg shape. Can't wait to see the rest.
  10. With a Kharadron mask it becomes a perfect cogmunculus....
  11. It would have been even worse. Being a 40k centric year didn't help though...(thanks also to HH i say).
  12. They also mentioned the subfactions: -Urani-Surtr regulates -Thurian greater league (it should be the "main" color scheme judging by the icon) -Trans-Hyperian Alliance -Kronus Hegemony -Ymir Conglomerate The names feels very "sci-fi"(as the symbols as they seems more "corporations symbols of sort") and imho a bit calls out the various "trade federations" tropes.....maybe we could expect some Kharadron inspiration?
  13. It seems more a spite or faerie thing. The ones from the Rumor engines are more feral/weird.
  14. So...next White dwarf will contains rules update for World eaters that are pretty much the new 40k "standalone codex" after Votanns (so probably coming in 2023). So considering this,i'd say that all white dwarf armies AOS got rules update in the white dwarf are just waiting for having their 3rd edition battletome with new units?(slaves were one of them iirc and they are getting things late this year). So there's still hope for those armies?
  15. If they wanted they whould've done already, like COS and Warclans already did.
  16. Because i remembered Ghyranite knights faithful of Alarielle of the cities are literally Bretonnia 2.0(see eight lamentations). Hysh iconography was always "egyptian themed" and the Nekeharan's lore was similar to Hysh magic (and the Liche used also light magic),Hysh is full of deserts and is a highly holy place...if Aos will have some sort of Nekeharans\not!Egyptiam themed free peoples will definitively come from that realm(or simply they'll give hyshian themed bits to make that thing even possible).
  17. TBH i'd prefer the design team to stick to the old artworks than import the "total war version" of those units(while they are similar in many cases also). I'd love some older things back from the game like Zoats\Fimir and such also.
  18. Order pantheon still is with many gods so we'll have people of many faiths other than Sigmar. This reason will never make free peoples analogous to imperium.
  19. I could see the other way around and them trying to unifies the whole idea of Cos having the various species in every "subgroup" tbh,so freeguild with duardin and elves alike and so on.
  20. I like also that they feels off considering the weird proportions of the heads, but i agree. The idea of cloneskeins seems to put an old sci fi classic in 40k in an interesting way (or at least a new part of that idea, as clonation\bioengineering is already present in 40k in many forms). Despite all is not even "true clonation" but is more a boengineering production mode for a viable population...i just hopes they'll ramp up the throwback to Daot era humans and the similar aesthetics we already saw with some model (Kastelan and the man of iron).
  21. But it will be remade into a more boney and perfect form probably, if the stars and Nagash machinations are right. Can't wait to see the new Ossiarkhan!
  22. @HawkeI'm sad now because dwarves got pretty important reveals in Broken Realms but no models... :I
  23. Another lore article. https://www.warhammer-community.com/2022/05/10/the-lore-of-the-leagues-who-are-the-kin-and-where-do-they-come-from/
