  1. I would be slightly less annoyed with a Psychic Awakening type deal with AOS as the warscrolls are online and it would hopefully not invalidate our current books and rules. If it were simply a supplement updating warscrolls and point costs, I would be less worried about losing out on potential new battalions and artifacts as long as I could incorporate any new units or changes to old ones into my existing armies without feeling pressured to buy the new book.

  2. @xking @Deepkin

I am loving these suggestions, I might even make an army of converted highlander Destruction Dwarves! I have my Chaos and Order armies already so this could be my next project waaay down the line.

Also I will use the Fyreslayers, as a base but I might try and remove their Ur-Gold Runes...

But Fyerslayers are nothing like destruction, they are far to orderly.

I think the aesthetic of Berserker dwarves lends itself to destruction but you are right that it would require a lot of narrative reshuffling and explanation. Maybe we could have an off shoot of the Fyreslayers that began to worship Gorkamorka.

    You are all wrong.

Every model that is not a dwarf is just a wasted model.

Ever since I started following this game I have wanted dwarves for each grand alliance: Order already has them, Destruction dwarves might be to close to Fyerslayers so I say switch their grand alliance, Chaos dwarves with an emphasis on demon bound artillery like the hellcannon, then an army of undead dwarves could be something novel and interesting.

I used to say this all the time! Orders too top heavy, and I kinda wish they would split the shadowy-aelfy stuff from order too.

Much to everyones chagrin, I keep on pushing forward the idea that Malerion is being corrupted by Slaanesh.  I think that it would be an interesting narrative to have him think that he could supplant Slaanesh and bring order to chaos, while actually playing into Slaanesh's hand. Furthermore, it would cause tension with his former allies particularly his mother.

  6. Hey all,

I am still slowly working on my Slaves to Darkness before I start my Idoneth Battleforce in earnest. However, social distancing will have me starting on my Idoneth earlier than anticipated. But I was wondering if anyone had some good references for sea creatures that they use to inspire their painting?

I was also wondering if the points drop on the Allopex  has improved their viability. I plan on running a shark no matter what but I am curious if I should just stick with one or run them both?

  7. Pre-release I was really hoping that the Eye of the Gods table would become less random and more in line with the summoning mechanics for other Chaos armies. Namely if your hero achieved certain actions they would get blessings that could be spent on the table and these would include spell casting.  I was actually hoping that the rules would follow the god specific point generation methods, so if you marked your character Khrone they would have to generate Blood Tithe points or Slaanesh Depravity points to spend on the Eye of the Gods. This would require developing a point method for undivided which would probably follow the current Eye of the God rules. To a further point I thought choosing your points on spawndom would result in the character becoming a spawn upon defeat; so there would not be a situation in which your general is randomly taken out. I think this would have been a fun and manageable approach to the Eye of the Gods but it would not have felt as in line with Chaos.

So in the end, I am glad that my idea did not come to fruition but I still may try and develop my own ruleset for this approach to see how tenable it is.

  8. Thoughts and impressions:

AOS: The Hammer models look amazing and I will need some of those crests they have on top of their helmets. The big Cow Mountain model is not my favourite, but I do like that evokes a Keeper of Secrets and look forward to seeing those two models go toe to toe.

The Scions look way cooler than I would have expected and I really want to get them. However I might use them as characters in my Chaos army as opposed to a unit. I might want to use the one with the staff as a Sorcerer Lord and the unit champion as a Chao Lord, maybe the Executioner as a Dark Oath Chieftain. Is this something that would be frowned upon?

LOTR: I do not need a Rohan army, I do not need a Rohan army... Éomer looks fantastic and the Rohirrim are my favourite of Tolkien's cultures. But I do not need a Rohan army...

40K:  Fabius Bile looks great and seems like a fun character. I am thinking of starting 40k when I finish up my Idoneth Deppkin and Emperors Children seems like it might be the direction I take (Chaos Knights, Chaos Space Marines and Necrons are my other interests).

Lion El’Jonson seems like a cool model and I enjoyed the animated work and might check it out.

Overall: I liked almost everything but feel let down after all the hype. Hopefully, we get some info about the Son's next week.

  9. I should clarify that  I do not expect my desire to see Malerion become an agent of Slaanesh will come true. However, my hope is to see Malerion become one of the most important figures within the Mortal Realms. I would want Malerion to be unwittingly following Slaanesh who would stay bound throughout this scenario. Malerion would see himself as a worthy replacement for Slaanesh and with the power of a Chaos God could bring about his version of order. He would unknowingly be playing right into the Chaos God's own hand. I also think the idea that Morathi has finally turned her back on Slaanesh only for the dark God to get its claws on her son could make for some compelling narrative potential for the Daughters of Khaine.

Again, it won't happen but it would create a cool faction that would be narratively grey as it would be aligned to Chaos but also tied directly to Order. Plus Sigmar's pantheon would constantly try and win him back as an ally. He could dramatically tell them that he is doing what he must to stop chaos by embracing it.

Despite not expecting this to actually happen, I still do think Slaanesh Mortals will be made and they will be Aelvish.

  10. I am inclined to agree that the release of Slaanesh will be a big deal. I am thinking that the reason we haven't seen Malerion yet, is that Slaanesh has been tempting him this whole time. I am hoping that his Aelves will become the mortal followers of Slaanesh.

Beyond that I think that there will be a narrative split with Order and Destruction fighting while Chaos and Death continue to duke it out. That way everyone is involved in a conflict and all players can be sold further supplements.

Exodites would be phenominal news, but I don't see it. If anything I'd be happier and surprised to see more Aspect warriors getting plastic updates. Eldar are one of the most backward armies in 40K at present in terms of having finecast models and old sculpts - what's surprising is that they are in really key positions too in the aspect warriors; a core part of the army rather than a support or hero end.

Plus unlike Kroot in Tau, the Aspect warriors aren't a part of the army that got left behind as another part stole the lions share of sales and attention.

As I said I am not super well versed in 40k. I have a general knowledge and have seen some speculation regarding those two factions. I knew that Eldar had lots of fine-cast but didn't know it cut into base infantry. I also didn't know that about the Tau and Kroot, very interesting.

  12. I am going to post my uninformed and baseless speculation.

AOS: I think that we will very likely get a fairly complete picture of the Lumineth range and a teaser for the Sons of Behemat,  I think there will be a teaser image that will hint at new armies. I imagine an image featuring a representative of each grand alliance, Lumineth,  Sons of Behemat, Vampires and Slaanesh mortals.

I think that there will be a new Warcy box featuring Scions of the Flame and hopefully 'a new season' of warbands. We will also get a preview of the missing Underworlds Warbands, if there are any still outstanding reveals (I have not been following the reveals very closely). Personally I would be intrigued by a new Warhammer quest box for AOS but do not consider it likely.

4OK: I do not play 40K so you can ignore this section entirely as it is entirely baseless speculation on my part.  I am hoping to see reveals for Dark Mechanicum and Exodites as those are two armies that would really make me consider joining the game.

I also expect a new Kill Team expansion box in the same vein as Rogue Trader and something Blackstone Fortress related. I would love for a return of Battlefleet Gothic.

  13. I know that this is entirely baseless speculation, but I am curious if the Scions of Flame were delayed to kickstart a second season of Warcry releases. If so this could be an entirely new warcry warband which would be neat.

I am also becoming more convinced that something interesting is going on with Slaanesh and Malerion...

  14. I absolutely love the new mage and the Daughters of Khaine Underworlds set. However, I am sad about no Warcy news and the archers are thus far my least favourite Lumineth models (I actually don't mind the hats, they simply feel to static to me).  Oh and I am totally converting those Necromunda 'Death-maidens' into Warqueens for my chaos army! 😃

So going in with no expectations, I am actually overall quite happy with these reveals.

    So rumour inspectors. What’s next?

As excited as I am for new rumours, I am also looking for a breather post Seraphon. Hopefully we get some cool models for Warcry and  Underworlds.

As for Adepticon I have no clues or even speculation. However, here are my biggest hopes: Lumineth for Order, Sons of Behemat for Destruction,  Slaanesh Mortals for Chaos (Aelvish followers) and something Vampire themed for Death.

I also would like a supplement for naval/aerial units with a focus on Idoneth, Kharadron, Scourge Privateers and hopefully Grotbag Scuttlers and or Vampire Coast.

Also as someone with only passing familiarity with 40k, I am still holding out hope for a Dark Mechanicum army.

I might switch the marauders for another 15 chaos warriors though. In my local meta people keep things very spread out. Also a lot easier to transport 30 CWs than 15 + 40. We'll see. Casual list so I'm not trying to go for super nasty.

I am playing 30 warriors in my list right now. 20 with sword and shield and two units of five with two hand weapons. It is fun and makes them feel unique, as I have a nice defensive core and two choppy units. They make a fun little hammer and anvil.

I also play casually and doubt this is the most efficient use of my warriors.

  17. Seraphon are sounding very fun and it seems as though they provide very versatile play options. I was originally contented with many of the smaller factions in AOS but this makes me think every army needs the option to, at least, run a pure monster variant.

... idk I am pro-new units because it’s healthy for army building yet gameplay-wise I am against a „Trollol look at my chariot, my chariot is amazing: For 100 points and a Warchanter buff I get a dmg potential of 44...“-Situation.

Is that not what I was stating? I think that chariots or warmachines would give Ironjawz new options that differ aesthetically from Bonesplitterz. I think it would diversify the range, especially with a hero option allowing a chariot to be built in two ways, but I did not know/think that chariots were that fundamentally broken in AOS.

  19. 5 hours ago, Gothmaug said:

Frankly, I feel ironjawz has plenty of heroes. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love a grunta mounted hero, but would prefer a new troop type. Something that gave us a new tactical option. A siege weapon, a ranged unit, or cheap cannon fodder, etc. Or even a miniature mawkrusha or other beastie that functions like  a flamers of tzeench

allying with the bonesplitters gives some  of that but you lose the heavily armored ironjawz aesthetic.

I have always thought that Iron-Jawz needed a warmachine option or at least a chariot, as I believe even rudimentary technology would help give them a distinctive identity from bonesplitterz. The chariot option would be especially nice if you could put a hero on it.

  20. @Koradrel of Chrace I suppose that superiority is something that I shouldn't be discussing as I just started collecting the ill formed abandoned sea dwellers. I have to say Aelven lore in AOS is so fascinating and the best carry over from the old world in my opinion.

Returning to the function of the thread, I am really excited to see what the future holds for Seraphon lore and I really hope that Oxyotl will return in some fashion.  But I do not think Chameleon Skinks made it into Warcry which makes me a little worried that they will not return at all.
