  1. So I have been a little bummed out about my Warcry Warbands being undersized for 10 model units... then I realized I can use the Oathbound to fill out the ranks and get a cool little sorcerer and extra mounted model that I might use as a Chieftain on Warsteed.

Sure the bases will be a little off but it lets me continue to use some of my favourite models.

Now I have to source some aetherwings to make my Castigators Vanguard-Raptors with Huricanne Crossbows... maybe some gryphhounds.

Wouldn't be the other way around? They are gaining weight. Even the Incarnate, who has been surrounded by doubts for a long time due to its performance during the third edition, has its spot in the edition.

The easiest would have been to trim them out, considering that they come from China and all that. If we have them gaining weight in the new edition, IMO it is a signal that they will be around for long.

I think that it does gain weight insofar as the concept will continue to be supported but I am just not sure if that will hold true for say the Stormcast spells as they have had so much reworked... alternatively will the factionless spells be dropped if all the armies get bespoke spells.

In other words it is not that I am doubting their continued support but rather questioning how to buy into a mechanic where I am not sure if they want to emphasize the shared spells or the faction specific spells? Or both?

(Not sure if I communicated that well as I have a slight fever today and so probably have no clue what I am talking about to begin with)

Edit: Feeling much better and reviewing the article the fact that they specify the universal ones as universal makes me feel better.

If anything, this guy looks like a fantasy miniature. Not the other way around.

Yeah it really weirds me out that people are calling shenanigans on a monastic order of angelic paladins when they are okay with an order of angelic(themed) paladins in space? Warhammer fans really seem to have their generic tropes and schemes inverted.

Next you will see someone call foul on AOS having Goblins which are clearly a science fiction concept.

  4. I cannot afford to collect a horde army. I cannot afford a horde army... I can't affor...

Oh my god it is my worse fear! They are even better looking than I imagined!

Wait can I just get the starter set and then round it out with some elite options... 😈

Slaves to Darkness - here I lost 3 Warcry warbands along with 1 WHU team. Which is nearly another 100 GBP lost... Plus, this decision is, IMHO, very poor conceptually - I planned on using the Warcry warbands to give colour to my StD army. I was aiming for a wild, disorganized, flavourful army consisting of barbarians, heavy troops, kung-fu sorcerers, weirdo spider mutants etc. I was really stoked about the upcoming Darkoath box, as it would've tied all of this very neatly. Instead, GW will give us the Darkoath... which are awesome... but they will take away the colourful cultists. And the StD are back to the old, boring, strictly barbarians + armoured goons flavour. And my interest in this army suddenly drops a by a huge degree... And I have even made a custom female Chaos Lord and a custom Chaos Sorcerer for this army...

I always wanted a really complex but cool Warscroll for the varied Chaos Warcry Warbands. It would feature a generic statline that would be consistent across all the warbands. But then you would choose a specialization for the warband named after each individual Warcy unlocking an effect for the warband. For example Iron Golems would increase the save of the unit and Untamed Beasts might give deepstrike.

This would make a flexible and unique unit that would encourage people to buy multiple warbands to find fun combinations that feels fitting for Chaos Undivided. Cypher Lords and Scions of the Flame for a ranged harassment unit. Corvus Cabal and Tarantulas Brood for speedy objective takers. Darkoath Savagers and Spire Tyrants for a deadly execution squad. Of course the varied unit sizes, base sizes and different effects would make it nearly impossible to balance... but it still could have been a really unique and cool identity for some of GW's best sculpts.

  6. Hey folks wanted to make a bit of a proactive thread covering how you intend to keep some of your models on the tabletop.

Will your Beasts of Chaos become Slaves to Darkness or transition to square bases?
Will your Sequitors become fancier Liberators?
Will your Warcry units combine taking their Dark Oath?

  7. That was a hard read, seems like many of my models survived but I will need to make plans for my SCE Ballista (Castigors and Sequitors are simple proxies thankfully), and I will run my S2D Warcry units as Darkoath marauders. I was actually a little anxious about my beloved Beastclaw Raiders and will remain so with the attitude GW shows between AOS and Old World.

    As for my beloved Beasts:

Interestingly the teaser video liberator is, like usual, one of the early 3D print pre-runs that the studio gets for painting (nothing special about that) - but there are signs of significant manual processing on the face (ridge, right) and gorget (inner towards face), which is unusual to see. There are also visible pocks from the support point sheering that are usually well hidden (TMM is making them more obvious). It seems to indicate he's an early run of the internal prints.
    Just a little inside-baseball observation.

Also, he has had a rough time waiting around for his shoot lol:

This is why I get so insecure taking photos of my minis lol. They look great to me but the second I look at a photo I realize how bad my vision actually is.

Luckily even 2 inches from my face and I am still painting for arms length. Luckily my friends and opponents are kind to my abilities haha 😅

So I have always enjoyed the strange nose piece as it provides a bit of embellishment and ties them more into a medieval knight aesthetic. Honestly I love the thunderstrike proportions and these models will make possibly passing on the next starter very challenging. Luckily I am broke enough for wisdom to prevail. I have 2000 points of Stormcast and the only additions I can see making are a unit of Dracoth Riders and maybe Valius as I am likely to get Saviours of Cinderfall.

I am just going to stop seeing every twig, antler and horn as Kurnothi. You have done it GW you have broken my hope of seeing Kurnothi as anything more than supporting elements in side games. 😢

Curious how important the KO and FS are in all the versions.

Despite my earlier tongue in cheek references to soup, the lore has implied that Grombrindal and Grungni hope to unite the Duardin armies. I assume that Grombrindal will be playable in both factions (maybe cities as well?) if he ever gets a new model and rules.

And you would have a larger army. Two problems solve at once 🤐

I assume that zipped mouth is from Duardin fans not enjoying the suggestion of doubling the range of their faction.

Will this be the look of the new model?

I know Soup is a bit of a dirty word for Duardin fans but seeing Grombrindal leading Kharadron and Fyreslayers is such a cool idea. A horde of berserkers taking to the ground as heavy metal airships cover them from the sky reigning hot metal and support to the sharpened axes and battle focused slayers below!
