  1. Allegiance: Stormcast Eternals The Light of Eltharion (220) - Allies Celestant-Prime (300) Lord-Celestant on Stardrake (500) - Celestine Hammer Lord-Castellant (120) Knight-Incantor (120) 5 x Liberators (90) - Warhammer & Shield 5 x Liberators (90) - Warhammer & Shield 5 x Liberators (90) - Warhammer & Shield 5 x Judicators (140) - Skybolt Bows 10 x Vanari Auralan Wardens (120) - Allies 6 x Prosecutors with Stormcall Javelins (180) - 2x Stormsurge Tridents Dais Arcanum (30) Total: 2000 / 2000 Extra Command Points: 0 Allies: 340 / 400 Wounds: 104 I know the Prosecutors are pretty much not good. My hope is that they go with the Celestant Prime or capture objectives with their fly movement. I love the models and want to paint them so I can accept sub par. My thinking is that the Wardens have a pretty decent war scroll, and some durability. They don't get Shining Company AFAIK as allies, but still can self buff.
  2. Cool, that Shooting Mortal-wound attack is a good point. I forgot he could do that LOL. The combo of Prime + Eltharion killing a character is a good idea. He might even cause some targeting priority issues for my opponents vs the Prime heh.
  3. Thanks Maturin, I've got the Lumineth Battletome (and 2 sets of the boxed sprue) so it's easy to test out. I didn't realize that having the "mini Gotrek" would be a good addition for the Stormcast but it makes sense. Especially with the Battleplans that give a bonus for heroes.
  4. That list seems really frigging cool! What’s Eltharion adding there, because it looks like a lot of fun to play and I’m very interested. Also, is that artifact lantern worth 160pts in the list? I guess it can help vs the “mortal wounds on 6+” stuff out there.
  5. Cool, I'm going to try him out and see first then swap for a 'gheist if it doesn't work out.
  6. You clearly a Ghoul fan I've heard conflicting things about them from players. Some people don't think they're worth it in big blocks, but I like having a single big block of 40. I would love to put 120 on the board and drown the world in ghouls, but I don't have the patience to build and paint that many. 80 (40+2x10 and then 20 for summoning) is plenty for me. Likewise with the Archregent, I don't have another model but that is definitely a good choice! Thanks very much for the advice. If I dropped the Royal Terrorgheist from the Deadwatch list and Cogs, I can put a single unit of 40 ghouls in like you suggested, and replace the second CP with a Chalice endless spell to support the ghouls. Then the Archregent can summon in either a 20 ghoul block or a Vargheist.
  7. Thanks! I love the idea of using Mannfred, but I recognize he's not super great for his points. My alternate here would be a. Royal Terrorgheist and the Cadaverous Barricade and I also quite like this list (it's similar to List 1 but without the Mordants+Horrors and I don't know if the battalion is worth the cost).
  8. Hi all, I'm back to looking at FEC lists with a goal of assembling a competitive (but not "tournament winning" 5-0 style) list. I have 3 options I'm broadly considering, would love some input on them. Feast Day Royal Mordants: Allegiance: Flesh Eater Courts - Grand Court: Court of Delusion - The Feast Day Abhorrant Archregent (240) - General Abhorrant Ghoul King on Royal Terrorgheist (420) Varghulf Courtier (160) 30 x Crypt Ghouls (300) 10 x Crypt Ghouls (100) 10 x Crypt Ghouls (100) 6 x Crypt Flayers (340) 3 x Crypt Horrors (130) Royal Mordants (120) Chalice of Ushoran (50) Cadaverous Barricade (40) Total: 2000 / 2000 Extra Command Points: 1 Allies: 0 / 400 Wounds: 115 Feast Day Mannfred: Allegiance: Flesh Eater Courts - Grand Court: Court of Delusion - The Feast Day Mannfred, Mortarch of Night (340) - Allies Abhorrant Ghoul King on Royal Terrorgheist (420) Abhorrant Archregent (240) - General 40 x Crypt Ghouls (360) 10 x Crypt Ghouls (100) 10 x Crypt Ghouls (100) 6 x Crypt Flayers (340) Extra Command Point (50) Chalice of Ushoran (50) Total: 2000 / 2000 Extra Command Points: 1 Allies: 340 / 400 Wounds: 116 Blisterskin Deadwatch: Allegiance: Flesh Eater Courts - Grand Court: Blisterskin Abhorrant Ghoul King on Royal Terrorgheist (420) Abhorrant Archregent (240) - General Crypt Infernal Courtier (120) 6 x Crypt Flayers (340) 3 x Crypt Flayers (170) 3 x Crypt Flayers (170) Royal Terrorgheist (300) Deadwatch (110) Chronomantic Cogs (80) Extra Command Point (50) Total: 2000 / 2000 Extra Command Points: 2 Allies: 0 / 400 Wounds: 89
  9. This is great work from GW! I’m super excited to try this one out as well. Will probably experiment with some smaller Stormcast units of Evocators or Sequitors, possibly the Underworlds units.
  10. Path to Glory rules are a cool idea as well to stretch this out. And maybe even use the rules from the books What did you use originally? Blobs of Ghouls or the Knights? The courtier (non Varghulf) seemed a little weak to add in unless it was a fourth or extra selection?
  11. I’ve played Kill Team / familiar with the size and wondered if there was even movement LOL. When I first looked at the board setups I couldn’t figure out why they were so sparse, then saw the table size... I think if there’s more terrain it could be interesting making it more like 3x4 and have the falling rocks from the one battle extend out further. Especially if you adjust the rules so that far engagement reaction allows for move/run vs stationary when not in shooting range.
  12. I like this, elegant solution to the issue of non-shooting units doing nothing. Pushes it to a more generic type of reaction as well: If the unit is in range of any shooting attack/effect then as written, otherwise they close in varying distances.
  13. Awesome! The Vanguard units make a lot more sense in the “beast hunting” narrative TBH. And it’s one of the reasons I want to go with Death or Chaos as enemies (so I can justify the story a bit easier in my head lol). Ironically it’s Chaos that I’m having a harder time coming up with equivalents for the Trogs. The FEC have a more natural fit really, with the reaction table and base sizes being very close. I also have a supply of Death models nearly ready to use and need to borrow Chaos. If you or anyone else has any ideas for a good Chaos setup I’d love it! Only one I can think of off hand is a Demon Prince as the big boss.
  14. Thanks for the advice! Currently my goal is to use this as a motivation for painting up some parts of my planned 2k army. So far I’m thinking because it’s death magic this will be Sacrosanct units: Lord Arcanum on Gryph Charger, 10 Sequitors and 3 Evocators on Dracolines.
  15. I was thinking of: 3 Crypt Flayers 4w / 12” mv / 5+ sv / 10 br 3 Crypt Horrors 4w / 7” mv / 5+ sv / 10 br 1 Varghulf 8w / 10” mv / 5+ sv / 10 br Royal Terrorgheist 14w / 14” mv / 4+ sv / 10 br Further analysis from the Trogs: 3 Rockgut 4w / 6” mv / 5+ sv / 5 br with Regen, 5+ FnP, 12” ranged MW 3 Fellwater 4w / 6” mv / 5+ sv / 5 br with Regen, -1 TH melee, 6” ranged atk 1 Dankhold 10w / 6” mv / 4+ sv / 6 br with Regen, Magic resist MW melee aura and instant kill melee attack 1 Dankboss 12w / 6” mv / 4+ sv / 7 br with Regen, Magic resist MW melee aura and instant kill melee attack With all of that, my idea is to add Regen to all the FEC to represent rampant death magic that must be stopped by destroying a Charnel Throne guarded by the Terrorgheist. Then it’s roughly equivalent, and I’ll play Hard Mode so I always have at least the Varghulf and 2 other units with it.
  16. I am absolutely familiar with this dilemma Wayniac! I have been a casual/garage gamer since the 90s. When 8th edition 40k hit, I went to tournaments for the first time and got into the competitive but struggled with my desire to have “combined arms” or “fluffy” additions to my army that undermined its competitiveness overall. The biggest things I have done: 1) Evaluate why I am in the hobby. In my case, it’s to participate in a social game physically (as opposed to digitally) and to interact with the stories and settings that I enjoy. 2) Figure out why I was being competitive in the first place. Why did I care about winning? I like to challenge myself and improve at things, but I got tied up in the W/L being all that mattered. That was a mistake for me, personally, because I enjoy the lore and stories, and don’t have enough time to chase the meta, and practice enough to win consistently. 3) Pick a damn army, one that isn’t a “meta” army and that sparks the most interest in painting, converting, lore and playing . I have settled on Stormcast. 4) Set new goals, with a basic and achievable tournament perspective. For me: I want to have a chance of winning more than I lose, but not sacrificing “cool stuff I like” so that I can win even more. I’d rather go 3-2 than toss the cool Stardrake from my list, etc. 5) Accept that I’m going to lose because of my choices, but try to feel like a winner because these are MY choices. hope that helps a bit. Happy to chat more on this as it relates to your situation.
  17. I’ve been reading though the cool new mini-campaign/solo rules for AoS that were released, and I would like to adapt the contents to suit either Chaos or FEC enemies. https://www.warhammer-community.com/2020/04/09/solo-warhammer-troggoth-slayersgw-homepage-post-1/ 3 Rockgut Troggoths (160pts) - 50mm bases 3 Fellwater Troggoths (160pts) - 50mm bases Dankhold Troggoth (220pts) - 60mm base Dankhold Troggboss (300pts) - 60mm base I could always just use a different model to repesent the same warscrolls I guess, but I'd love to figure out some equivalents. The big wrench in the mix IMO is how important the Regeneration rules likely are to this setup. I could toss regen on whatever other models, which is one solution.
  18. I agree Nubgan. I took a look at LVO and CanCon/Call to Glory stats. Overall Stormcast didn't end up looking great, overshadowed by a lot of others and a win rate of 43.5%. However, overall "2.2" stats from The Honest Wargamer: Their 5+/4 win rate seens reasonable. They have 25 of those, which is better than Cities, Ironjawz, Legions of Nagash, etc... and equivalent to Deepkin 5 Current Podium, which is equivalent to Cities and Gloomspite Gitz Current Top 10 is 43, which is higher than Deepkin and Daughters of Khaine I'm aware that stats aren't the be-all-and-end-all and don't tell the full picture sometimes, but this seems to mean to me that when piloted by a good player with the right list, Stormcast can perform at events, but won't "win the whole thing" in the current meta because there are more powerful armies out there.
  19. Yea with only 6 models I expect a lot of rolls that end up whiffing. Is there a good source of re-rolls for them I could look into?
  20. Thanks again for the help! There was a Starcast list that had 1x20 Sequitors and 2x5 Judicators, and I had 60pts kicking around when all of them were Liberators and to be honest I have ~10 Judicators so figured it would be interesting to chuck 5 in and see what they do
  21. Thank you! I blanked on that one. I forgot I had chosen a specific Stormhost from a previous example. I'm reasonably new to AoS, still getting used to army composition. If I don't choose a named Stormhost I can still select any trait/artifact correct?
  22. I've been flitting between armies, but it looks like Stormcast Eternals are going to be the one I spend some time getting ready for the table. I love the idea of these Starcast lists, and they match up with what I have (basically) after a trade and some buying of stuff I like the look of/want to paint and play. I don't have or really want Kroak, so here's my attempt at a list variant from the ones I've read about here. Allegiance: Stormcast Eternals- Stormhost: Celestial WarbringersCelestant-Prime (340)Knight-Incantor (140)- Spell: Azyrite HaloLord-Castellant (120)Lord-Celestant on Stardrake (500)- General- Stormbound Blade- Command Trait: Staunch Defender- Artefact: Ignax's Scales- Mount Trait: Storm-winged5 x Liberators (100)- Warhammer & Shield5 x Judicators (160)- Skybolt Bows- 1x Shockbolt Bows5 x Liberators (100)- Warhammer & Shield6 x Prosecutors with Stormcall Javelins (180)- 2x Stormsurge Tridents3 x Evocators on Dracolines (260)Everblaze Comet (100)Total: 2000 / 2000Extra Command Points: 0Allies: 0 / 400Wounds: 92
  23. Experimenting with my first Nighthaunt List below. Advice really appreciated. I’d love to have a mounted Knight of Shrouds but didn’t have the points. Allegiance: NighthauntMortal Realm: ShyishGuardian of Souls with Nightmare Lantern (140)- Lore of the Underworlds: Spectral Tether- Infernal Lantern (Artefact): Beacon of NagashizzarLady Olynder, Mortarch of Grief (200)- General- Lore of the Underworlds: Soul CageKurdoss Valentian, the Craven King(180)Knight of Shrouds (100)40 x Chainrasp Horde (280)5 x Hexwraiths (140)5 x Hexwraiths (140)10 x Grimghast Reapers (160)10 x Grimghast Reapers (160)8 x Myrmourn Banshees (140)10 x Bladegheist Revenants (180)The Dolorous Guard (120)Extra Command Point (50)Total: 1990 / 2000Extra Command Points: 2Allies: 0 / 400Wounds: 122
  24. In theory it seems like a big block of 40 Chainrasps is actually fairly durable. 5+ ethereal and a 6+ ignore wounds should survive a single round, then give you a chance to run spectral lures and healing back. I know Nighthaunt are MSU but a single big block seems to make sense to me. Thoughts?
  25. Thanks for the info! If I'm honest I'm into Nighthaunt because I love the models, not so much for the competitiveness, right now. I just want to make sure my opponents and I have good games and not steamrolled (feel challenged). I really like the idea of using both the "Queen and consort" of the dead, and the model is really sweet so I'll give it a go. Any ideas what a good combination would be with both of them? Dolorous Guard I'm assuming, with Olynder as the general as you described and Kurdoss as the beatstick being aggressive with Olynder. Other than that I know MSU is typically the way to go, but it seems like having lots of small units just gets them removed.
