  1. I think you can do that with big blobs of marauders who get battleshock immunity. Don't see why would you pass up circle buff on varanguard but whatever.
  2. You are not wrong. Pretty much always pick the 18" aura. This is the case when new nerfed realm artifacts are ironically better than what you get in the book.
  3. Bloodletters aren't really run these days. If you want them the best setup would be Fury thirster (pile-in 6"), bloodsecrator and a +2 run/charge battallion with a Reapers host.
  4. Pretty sure knights are now THE default chaos unit. I am talking about the 3x3/3/-1/1 profile ones. Like compare them to our elite uhhh skullreapers, not even close. A case can be made for 9 juggers brick being better than 15 knights, but that's a very corner case, otherwise knights are better again. Ironically chungus does not make sense in Std vs. a Demon prince but seems pretty good in Khorne especially in Goretide.
  5. Consider the following: Chaos warriors with 2h Altar with +1 save blessing You now have have warriors with 3+ save and rend who reroll everything. Not quite petrifex, but still solid.
  6. We already had 2 faqs with point adjustments. It's very likely GW thinks we are fine.
  7. I'd rank them Thirsters > Archaon > mortals. I'd drop stuff from thirsters (skulls and priest) and archaon (battalion, both priests, warriors, skulls) to take more reavers or mongers for objectives
  8. Belakor can shut down big unit for a turn. Whispers lore spell can shut down a unit for a turn if it gets through all their negates. You can teleport stuff behind their dudes and kill the heroes, just don't engage the hearthguard. Varanguard in empty throne can pile in from 6" negating the strike first. Not like they will have damage to kill the hearthguard.
  9. Knights at 160 are very good. The question is why would anyone use other units now. Don't like karkadrak over mounted lord or DP. Rip marauder ponies and gaunt. Furies are probably strictly better choice than marauder ponies now. I also think Varanguard in Empty throne host are a sleeper. They are your best "hero" deal in the book and the CP ability to deny scoring seems nuts.
  10. One way to abuse Anvil is buying barebones priests/wizards. A priest will cost you 40pt, mounted priest 120 pt for following a cavalry unit (or 100pt if you want a 8" move priest on foot). The mounted commander guy is also good, he can give +1 save to crushers for a CP. Another way is making a dude on a dragon with 2+ save and giving him ethereal artifact from Goretide. Costs as low as 250pts with basic weapons and you have 150pt reserve to make him better.
  11. +1 stat is 30% more damage, double hit on 6s is statistically a +1 stat. -1 rend is roughly 30% more damage against 4+ and better against lower saves and rerolls. If you want offensive output take -1 rend. I'd personally put it on claws, having both weapons with rend feels better, I assume it can be mathematically better against rerolls. I would take the unmodified save or free CP ability since Goretide already gives you +1 damage. You may not need the free CP in Goretide since they don't spam CP abilities all that much.
  12. Mark doesn't matter much as long as it's khorne/nurgle/slaanesh. I guess khorne hits a bit harder. Ensorcelled for knights. Exalted is pretty bad but you need the aura bubble to go with warriors. Should be chaos lord, but I don't see how to do that without downgrading karkadrak to mounted lord.
  13. Now that I think of it the Aqshy artifact that gives you 2 hits on 6s statistically functions as a +1 to hit. I guess I'll use it as a poor man's amber glaive.
  14. It doesn't say "unbind" so it cancels it because the auto cast part references auto passing the check. I assume they will clarify it in the faq.
  15. 2x5 knights 1x karkadrak 15x warriors 1x exalted Ravagers, summon marauders
  16. For me the biggest loss is the amber glaive on the Rage. Makes me reconsider using Rage often and not wanting to take the battalion for the artifact.
  17. I want to clarify two things: 1. Blue scribes in Tzeentch book say they can learn any spell cast near them on 4+. Will they learn and be able to cast the std lore spells from allegiance? (i.e. having an std keyword isn't needed to cast the spell if you steal it) I assume yes. 2. Kairos in Tzeentch book says he knows all spells wizards near him have on their warscrolls. Will he get lore spells that std wizards get from allegiance? I assume no.
  18. Petrifex are in a weird spot where they aren't strong enough to be tier 0 like things that were nerfed, but are strong enough to curbstomp weak lists taking enjoyment out of the game for people playing those.
  19. I think it would be better as Murderhost or Blood host. Crushers really want some help charging.
  20. The first list is just weak, you're very pillow-fisted. The second is better because of knights and karkadrak, but chaos warriors are weak scroll, the less you take them the better.
  21. Consider doing the slaughterborn battalion, you have reapers anyway. Just swap aspiring for exalted, you won't get the blob into his 10" aura anyway. I think survivability will be more important than bigger secrator bubble, warriors will never punch hard enough without rend, but they can bodyblock opponent from advancing. Instead of banner it's probably better to take gift on WoK that gives out rerolls. WoK is much easier to position.
  22. 10 mongers have way more common uses than 15 reapers or 15 warriors.
  23. Letter herald, 10 dogs and a thirster. Herald is the cheapest summon, sometimes you just need that for point cap or CP use. Dogs are cheap and good, don't forget they also unbind/dispell. Thirster is usually last ditch effort, but Rage thirster can turn the game around with some lucky rolls. Also your insurance plan in case both armies destroy each other and Khorne mortals do like to do that with plethora of "attack on death" abilities.
  24. Personally I always use a DP as the only supporting hero for knights, crushers, etc. that rely on charging. With his CP ability he makes pulling off a charge very easy.
