  1. Indeed, very valid points - the cost of the consoles and/or PC have to be taken into consideration as well. At least nowadays you won't need a new computer every 2-3 years. I can remember the times when a PC was hopelessly outdated after like 3 years because specs got better so fast. Now I only got a MacPro (the trashcan) and for my work stuff it's good enough despite being far from perfect. I do play games on a WIN partition with it and most stuff runs reasonably well but I plan to buy a ridiculous gaming PC soon. It should light up like a christmas tree! And well, when I think what that'll cost me, Warhammer is suddenly a less expensive hobby. Edit: Oh and good luck with your hdd!
  2. Well, I don't want to brag but so far price increases haven't bothered me. Yes, it's far from a cheap hobby and compared to fun stuff like videogames it feels terribly expensive to shell out the same amount for a few pieces of plastic but oh well... going out and getting a few good drinks or an expensive dinner is even more expensive if I think about how much enjoyment I get out of these things - good food and/or drinks are literally gone the next day and I can enjoy them over the course of a couple hours at most, a videogame or minis can last me days to weeks to years, depending on how long I tend to stick with them. I always break down any kind of investment into just that: price per hour of fun. And with that kind of thinking it's not expensive anymore, really. I'd pay even more if I didn't have to clean mold lines. What might have helped me though is to stick with one theme - 99% of the time I only buy Tzeentch stuff or something I can use with a Tzeentch force (that limits me to DoT/StD and 1kSons/CSM, both with daemons, respectively). Obviously there are other cool factions and models out there too but seeing how I'm a very slow builder/painter I already got too much. When I was younger I was a more impulsive buyer and owned a few armies. in the end I sold most of them off, not even having opened the boxes. i still got some stuff like a lot of Death korps of Krieg minis from FW that I never took out of their pack outside of inspecting the casts. That's where i was dumb. Now I know that I'm very, very slow (and purposeful) and stick to my true love, big T. And suddenly it's not a very expensive hobby anymore for me.
  3. You could use them as troggoths I guess. I have no idea how big Fimir actually are but I think they should be somewhere in the troll range size? I don't think any guy you play against would mind as long as it's clear and the bases are the same size. And if they do mind, you might need to find other people to play with. Edit: Oh, and you are allowed to cry of course! It's a shame. Such beautiful models getting such a bad treatment.
  4. Okay, ****** it, just bought them. 😎 Maybe there'll be some model's rules in the new Slaves to Darkness tome that can be used for them. Trolls, the Fomorian's or maybe Chaos Ogors or something.
  5. I think I might order Fimir warriors right now before it's too late and use them as (chaos) trolls or something... (I play Tzeentch)
  6. I'll gladly stop but from what I've read the Fimir were always just a very minor thing in Warhammer because of their tasteless background... and that sucks. They deserved more. Like I said, I hate PC stuff with passion and think it's bad to change things that are supposed to be horrible to not be too edgy but since I don't care about that piece of fluff, I'd also be happy if they turned them into something else. I'd just love plastic minis... Okay, I'm done - sorry if the topic offended someone, it was not my intention. My intention was to get plastic Fimir minis.
  7. Neither do I but people are terribly butt-hurt these days. I could ramble on for a long, long time how this isn't good for society as a whole but this forum's management is also overtly sensitive (and it's too off-topic anyways) so I'll refrain from it. But let's just say that conflict - especially if no real harm is done as in heated discussions - is a mighty tool for personal growth and it's sad that anything slightly aggravating gets simply taken out to make things meet the lowest common denominator. Nobody loved something because of it being the lowest common denominator (this is especially true for 40k - I mean that whole oppressive empire thing... it's not ideal either and changing it would kill the setting). So yeah, they could stay as raping creatures for all I care. Truth be told, I don't even care for that aspect much, I just like their design. Blame HeroQuest. But despite me not caring too much about their background, I wouldn't want it changed for PC (political correctness) reasons either. PC is a cancer to society. Whoops, now I ranted. Sorry.
  8. I'm repeating myself but I'm saying it just in case people from GW read this: i'd instantly buy plastic Fimir models. If the background is too dark, then change it if that is what's needed in these times but they look awesome and I would be sad to see them go.
  9. I'd gladly take all of them but Chosen and Fimirs would be my preferred kits. The Chosen/Varanguard kit could also be used to make your own lord in theory but who knows what the future holds in that regard...
  10. While I'm thankful for your long and informative replies, I still think that the horse pointing downward in motion is simply wrong. The horse on the left simply looks weird pointing down like that, the angle is too steep even if the overall movement pattern is kinda correct. It can be easily fixed but a tiny bit less dynamic pose might've made for a better kit. But it's fine if everyone disagrees here too. I know less than ****** about horses but it doesn't look ideal to me with its butt far up in the air like that. Oh and regarding movies: The biggest thing apart from proper screen-acting (which is very different to theatrical acting) is simply the low frame-rate IMO. Neither Will Smith nor Gandalf can make high framerates not lose some of cinema's magical quality and stop things from looking kinda mundane as soon as the framrates goes above 25p (maybe 30p if we're generous).
  11. You know, a bit off-topic but if we're talking about static models and poses... Why does one of the Varanguards (and to a lesser extent, one of the new Chaos Knights) have a horse that looks like it's it's going to trip or at least throw its rider off? That pose with the horse's front part being so low looks kinda weird to me... 🤔
  12. Okay, you win. Fair point! Well, you could strike them better without a banner I guess.
  13. Kinda makes sense for Chaos Warriors in general! Which Chaos Warrior would want to be on music and banner-bearing duty when he could strike their foes instead?
  14. Oh and with a bit of work and some bits (maybe Liberator legs) they'd make fine "marked" warriors, I just made a Tzeentch mockup.
  15. Just wild speculation by me but perhaps the Warriors won't be able to wield two weapons and/or greatweapons because they'll make a new Varanguard/Chosen kit that will fulfilll that exact role. There are also Blood Warriors for 2 hand weapons. I think they'll look at Black legion for this, where certain "cult" units are a normal sight in an otherwise undivided force. Then the CWs being pushfit and no standard kit coming would be no problem. The huge cloaks would also make it hard for them not to be pushfit anyways unless the poses are quite generic. Obviously I'd gladly buy multiple versions of Chaos Warriors...
  16. Guys, can't tell you how happy I am with this new box. My Tzeentch army will have almost everything i wanted with these new guys (already planning how to make them a bit more Tzeentchian but i got some ideas.... Awesome update! Will buy 1-2 boxes asap.
  17. Or just give us proper Varanguard/chosen on foot, ideally with enough bits to make them look god-specific. Tzeentch and Slaanesh could use some armored troops to be complete, Nurgle and Khorne kinda got theirs already. Either way, updating Chaos Warriors would be a wise move - lots of aligned armies would be potential buyers and they are kinda iconic. And if I'm wishlisting: I want a plastic Curseling. The finecast one is lovely but Finecast is not. Or give us a proper Tzeentch Chaos Lord. You know, one that is like they used to be - very powerful in close combat (not as strong as Khorne champs) and a full-fledged sorcerer on top. Right now I really miss that Chaos champions and warriors are really good at what they are supposed to be good at. Why sell your soul if your're just average?
  18. I dunno, I've been here for the release of all other said factions (SC, KO, ID,...) and to me it feels very much like Bonereapers get the most bad comments and divide people more than even KO who are indeed very sci-fi for AOS. Of course there are also some that love the OBR dearly, I don't wanna badmouth the new faction. Just saying that I've never seen a faction divide the AOS fandom so much so far. Like I said before I think they'd be almost awesome but something irks me about their look in the end so they're missed opportunity - which is totally fine.
  19. I think it's safe to say that the Bonereapers are the army that divides people the most so far. Some love it and it seems like most actually don't really like them. Personally I like some visual aspects of them. The Yoshimitsu faces, the Samurai cues, the HR Giger-like design are all things I normally love but if thrown together with lots of bony plates (the big culprit) they somehow don't work for me. Personally I just think Morghasts suck - because they got way too many lines and other ****** on them - lots of bones for their limbs (like their legs) are okay but then don't add useless lines on their metal armor - it's too much. Their design is horrible IMO and pushing that aesthetic in there made the Bonereapers fall apart - it's a bit of a convoluted mess that is the direct opposite of what classical Undead are (on purpose obviously but less is always more). I love the Nighaunt and the Shadespire set of skeletons is awesome too. I think these new guys would've been better if they didn't make them cobbled together constructs and instead the undead remnants of a truly magnificent warrior dynasty. Or rethink their armor design.
  20. Hell yeah to those news. I was hoping for a bit more armored look but the Tyrants look promising already and will hopefully make a Varanguard on foot kit come sooner than later. That fomoroid thing is pretty damn sexy as well, despite the name sounding like a pain in the butt!
  21. They definitely share a few cues with other Slaaneshi stuff. The Unmade fit other aspects of Slaanesh as well though, so both could lean in that direction. As long as people stop claiming the Cypher Lords are Slaaneshi in any shape or form, it's fine. It's hard to find something more tzeentchian outside of Kairic Acolytes and especially the leader with the third arm just screams ol' T. Ideally Slaanesh would get a mortal kit as well. Would've been cool to see every God get their own spin on Chaos Warriors but hell, if we get vanilla ones, we could build lovely God-specific stuff too. I mean mix SCE with similar sized stuff like Blood Warriors and slap the Cyper Lords helmets on and you got a pretty nice Tzeentchian warrior IMO.
  22. Yeah, but still - no new Chaos Warriors after all this time is quite baffling. No single other unit is that beloved in WHF and even God-specific units can't replace them. If they wanna earn cash, they should release them. It's a bit as if they redid all 40k factions and updated Space Marines last. it makes absolutely no sense. That said, I'm happy we got a dedicated Tzeentch force, now I got DoT and Thousand Sons to collect - but 99% of Chaos players like Chaos Warriors and right now they are pretty bad and the kit (despite being great for its age) doesn't hold up, especially because they're too small. I hope I don't sound overtly aggressive but you gotta wonder why they don't release stuff people would instantly buy in a heartbeat. @Varanguard: And they're hardly usable in God-specific armies... and few play StD or Archaon's boys.
  23. Marketing-wise it makes absolutely ZERO sense to put Chaos Warriors/STD at the end as Chaos sold more than most other armies from WHFB combined. Sure, that itch got scratched with the god-specific armies but frankly in relation almost nobody gives a damn about ogors or Aelves in relation to simple Chaos Warriors who made up a majority of WHFB sales. That GW hasn't managed to get a new kit out for the single most iconic Warhammer unit is baffling at this point, especially because 5/6 are potential buyers.
  24. Lovely idea and very promising start - kinda makes me think of He-Man's Kobra Khan.
