  1. In regards to TOW, it sounds like it‘ll be much mire focused on the human/empire-centric part of the world now than originally anticipated. I hope that the people that see TOW as their salvation won‘t be disappointed as it sounds to me like it‘s gonna look more like the Game of Thrones mini game than old Warhammer. I would‘ve liked the Asavar Kul era, many cool characters… out of all of Adrian Smith‘s amazing Chaos illustrations, Engra Deathsword was definitely one of the most deserving to be put into plastic. 😇
  2. ❤️ No need to be sorry, I got enough cool minis for my faction and like most Chaos players I started with classic Chaos Warriors so I also got lots of love for that look as well. Perhaps I‘ll get my wish for dedicated Tzeentchian sorcerer-warriors (and Forsaken maybe?) in the future. They‘re pretty much the only thing missing from my armies, so I‘m one of the luckiest collectors around. And if not, there‘s always the option to do your own stuff. As for my cabalists - sure, if I‘ll ever do them for real.😅 I bought quite a few S2D kits by now but I haven‘t even put most of them together. I‘m a terrible person.
  3. I dunno, I'm not sure putting Tzeentch weapons on them even looks good as the styles are quite different. I've lamented often enough that these warriors are too scratched up (and their armor too barbaric, I miss the sophistication we wear) to look the part of proper Tzeentch warriors (or Slaanesh ones for that matter but unlike us they got properly armored mortals), although I find the minis great if judged on their own. I might get a box (who am I kidding, I will for sure) but I doubt I'll convert them. Simply not worth the effort. I'd just change great minis but unless I start filling those holes and scratches and start sculpting details and so on, they'll never convey the style I deem right for true Tzeentch warriors. So I'll rather just build (and appreciate) them as they are and say they're hired or newcomers to the whole Tzeentch thing. It's kinda like with the 40k Chaos Space Marines... no reasonable amount of work would've turned them into decent Thousand Sons either, so I'll just accept them for what they are (and in 40k we got lucky with the Rubrics anyways). Also, I'm unlikely to use them much either. There's not too much reason to use most StD units in a DoT force, although I did get the box with the DP and Chosen (decent price, especially after seeing what they cost on their own). I'll have to take a deeper look into a Cabalist force, that is interesting though as a way to use more of my StD units. I also recently bought a box of Tzaangors. I'm perhaps the only dude that didn't have enough Tzaangors (only owned a single unit and the Silver Tower ones).
  4. Please be right and not just delusional. 😁
  5. Reach > strength unless there is a gigantic discrepancy. Any RL combatant would tell you the same. It’s a huuuge advantage. It‘s why the spear outclasses the sword (if you got the room to wield it that is). I‘ve said dwarves have their own strengths compared to humans but if I put let’s say a Chaos Warrior vs a dwarf, both with „long“ weapons, I‘d put my money on the Chaos Warrior, simply because he‘s got a superior reach. Obviously other factors play a part too and I‘m sure many dwarves eat CW for breakfast and lunch but size is important. The dwarves‘ short height is also the reason why I don‘t see them handling pikes etc. well… as the pikes would need to be shorter than ones for humans, as they‘re closer to the ground even if their superior strength and stamina would make it easier for them to wield it. It‘s down to „logistics“ at this point. An ogre with a long weapon would outclass a human or aelf with a long weapon too, even if we disregard their superior strength. Not trying to hate on dwarves. My hate is only reserved for Lumineth and myself!
  6. A dwarf‘s two-hander is a human‘s longsword. 😆 I think that might be why - using weapons with longer reach just underlines the inherit drawback a small stature in combat would have, as you would never match the reach of a larger creature. It might be better to play on their strengths (physical strength/durability) - they gotta get close to you but when they do, you‘re in a word of hurt… Or they just didn‘t want to stray from the classic axe-look 🤷🏻‍♂️
  7. In general I agree with you. But I found the tales of a Tantalus or Niobe more interesting than just exclusive stories about the Gods themselves. So a second „tier“ of named characters isn‘t bad. It‘s also not completely missing and thankfully the writers, as novakai pointed out, try to show the realms not just in the typical over-the-top style but I‘m dead certain that AoS will get much more love when the setting is better defined in the general fandom‘s eye. many people loved how defined Warhammer was after all. More room for creativity is definitely good but a healthy mix of the two extremes will help the setting I bet.
  8. That's what you get when your protagonists/antagonists are godly beings (or close to it) and vast realms where only the biggest players count for something... I almost never find the big bads too compelling and the setup of AoS did push them in that general direction. A smaller setting/story like Ulfenkarn is better for dramatic reasons. In 40k you at least got different planets, that feel more self-contained than invading realms. And while I just badmouthed the overall premise a bit, it shows that these concerns will go away as GW fills the realms with life so to speak. I'd like to see more "mundane" (well, they're far from mundane but I don't know a better word for it atm) heroes/villains like Egrimm, Aekold Helbrass (or Ludwig Schwarzhelm, Luthor Huss) and fewer ultimate bad guys like Archaon though. And when they bring back dudes like Sigvald, I hope that they didn't stylize him to be the ultimate avatar of their God too.... (No idea if Sigvald changed much, just picked him randomly) Despite the grand nature of AoS, we need IMO more smaller stuff and self-contained elements.
  9. I hope the unusual picks (for GW standards) for the anniversary models lead the way for this year when it comes to which forces get cool new toys!
  10. Some very deserving minis in the top 10 but this just once again shows that AoS didn‘t get enough juicy stuff this year. 😇 Personally I voted for the Curseling as I‘m very happy with it (I loved the old one too but him being in Finecast ruined it for me tbh)
  11. That list is actually quite similar to the one I've fielded in my last game (no Kairos, no pinks, Tzaangors instead of Horrors but I didn't play 2k points). I'm not sure that you'd be really happy with Kairos if you go for Guild of Summoners (too much overlap now, especially if you get two LoCs out). I've only used one blob of Kairics but had a unit of Tzaangors who are an absolute joy to use at the moment, especially if you make the charge. The Tzaangors and Enlightened are pretty killy. Kairics are a bit useless in my experience. I think a Sorcerer Lord on Manticore could add a lot of punch to your list if you play against fitting armies victims. Fatemaster is a solid pick, Thaumaturge is fun (but beware, he dies quicker than one expects), I find the Gaunt Summoner overpriced currently but perhaps I'm too bad to appreciate the deepstrike shenanigans enough for its tax. Changeling is just a waste of points ATM despite the amazing model, sorry for the harsh words.
  12. What I think makes the situation is worse is that people want to use the comp rules as it‘s the „definite/most balanced“ version of the ruleset… despite not wanting overly complex rules! It‘s a bit of a contradiction in itself but it is what is is… I don‘t find the rules that difficult but I think GW needs to explain them a hell of a lot better. You can‘t imagine how many things I had to explain to people in my group and that‘s before the latest additions… Personally I struggled quite a bit with Killteam‘s rules at first too. I mean there‘s a high probability I‘m an idiot but still, I think sometimes better wording would defuse this situation a lot. edit: that said, I don‘t see the benefit of more complex rules in most use cases. Sure, you can‘t create a second chess but people that play more tt wargame systems usually tell me the other systems habe better rules. I guess they‘re right, although I can‘t say for sure as I only wanna collect GW stuff…
  13. They need to stop messing with AoS rules. Everything since the start of 3rd ed has been detrimental to the game‘s popularity over here and I absolutely hate that. I can pinpoint the drop in general interest with each new rule change in the Warhammer discord here… 😖 AoS being a beer and pretzels game really was a hit here. I understand that one can omit a lot if rules bloat but I don‘t think they understand the situation - GW games are more about fun for most players and much less about balance, they‘ll never manage to balance it perfectly anyways. ….people actually suggested to play 40k now as they find those rules better 😂😂😂. GW desperately needs a better rules team. Has to be said. I‘m sorry for complaining, it‘s definitely not easy to write great rules but I‘m only complaining because I want the best for AoS. When it comes to the people I know who play, more and more difficult rules are not the answer. there‘s also a reason why people like to play Warcry over Killteam… (it‘stherules🤫)
  14. Same here, mate… I loved DS and they really seem to put a lot of love into the remake. Already preordered it. 🥰
  15. The looking mean one. 😄 In other news I've "owned" massive Nurglite fly spam despite not using a counter list. Tzaangors are indeed truly amazing now, although the main thing holding my opponent back (I'd say friend but that's only outside of Warhammer... he plays Nurgle after all) was his own list and a huge tactical error of using too many resources too kill my Enlightened (they died like flies too, excuse me) and actually deepstriking at a dumb spot. Too many Pusgoyle BL for its own good. Anyways, Fluxmaster and Curseling might become my go to heroes.
  16. Look, change all you want (I‘m an agent of change where it‘s feasible) but you always need to make it better if you do. Else it’s just failure and egomania. The Witcher series was mediocre from the start at best (with some decent aspects), I don‘t see how they‘ve improved on it. I understand certain required cinematic changes too (in fact I‘ve studied film, so had quite a few classes on script writing - not that this is of consequence here but I believe I’ve got a decent grip on the basics) but ultimately it needs to respect the source and its overall vibe. I think the recent backlash that some meh offerings have gotten is ultimately helpful to this cause - that‘s all I‘m saying. Personally all I want is an offering that doesn‘t reflect badly on the Warhammer universe and hobby. Definitely doable without twisting it need- and aimlessly.
  17. I can‘t imagine them not getting that right honestly, it‘s such a big part of the universe/lore that pretty much everyone is bad to some extent (and heroic in their own way), it would be a total failure on their part. Not gonna happen. I‘ll at least give them that. Surely we will get some glorification of Imperials but they‘ll definitely look behind the curtain, it would be a missed opportunity else…
  18. Yes, absolutely, but you know, I don‘t want them to focus on let‘s say environmentalism but showing what a rotten and nature-destroying place the Imperium of Man is is fair game but they should focus on the story more than some themes. I hope you understand the point I‘m trying to make. 😅
  19. Well, things fall into place for this favorably. I believe this will have the chance to be actually decent and I was always worried about a live-action movie or series - Amazon learned that thanks to the backlash of ROP that the writing quality is more important than budget, I think everyone learned thanks to Henry leaving the Witcher that you don't mess with the source material and with Henry being this involved, I think it will handled with lots of care, especially because GW are stern in this regard. I truly hope they will capture the bleak nature of it all and will present it in a grown-up fashion and they will present us with the themes and ideas of the 41st millennium and not shoehorn in contemporary commentary. Sometimes the writing from GW is amazing, sometimes it's a bit "childish", so I really hope they can bring their A game when sifting through it and focus on the best parts so that this will become a home run.
  20. I dunno why but it feels like it would fit into Mordheim. it's got that particular kind of vibe. I really hope we'll get an update to that one day, ideally with enough freedom to use some of the AOS or Warcry minis.
  21. That‘s my take on it as well… it‘s as if GW actively wants you to NOT buy S2D kits because they‘ll never perform as well as they should in DoT lists. 😅 I see a couple of useful exceptions but we really need our own mortal elite unit I think. Everything else we got now pretty much. 👍 It is my great joy to face nurgle fly spam (I got a feeling he‘ll use that) in a few days. Just 1000 points (I‘m not a big fan of small games with DoT) but I‘ll try to make my fellow birdbros proud. 😎 Dunno what else I‘ll run but Enlightened are gonna be in there for sure. 😇
  22. That git is so tuff and ’ard, I have no idea how he can be a gobbo and not an orruk with those stats. Loving the unit… interestingly, our GSG player isn‘t convinced. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I don‘t understand that git either…
  23. They could easily win everyone‘s hearts if they just added a ton of options/bits to said kit. I hope they find a way to provide enough variety.
  24. I‘m a soup fan IF the ingredients fit well together. What I love about Chaos forces is that the units can look very different, I find overtly cohesive forces often a bit boring but that‘s obviously just me. I understand that a lot of players like the direct opposite and want an army that looks very cohesive. So I voted for soup but I‘m not fully convinced of my own preference there as it‘s extremely subjective. It‘s difficult to do right by everyone here. Fyreslayers and KO for example I wouldn‘t throw together, they simply don‘t fit together. They‘re both short and bearded and got a couple of similar visual motifs in the losest sense (like runes), but that‘s about it. Orks and Gobbos are fine, I got to knew them like that and think they‘d still work well together, visually too. With the way the current rules are usually written, it makes little sense to use allies usually, which I consider a damn shame. I think this is one aspect they should focus their energy on but it would most likely take a new edition and lots pf change to make that balanced; so I think it‘s an unrealistic idea. I‘d like to see more if the power of units baked into their warscrolls than allegiance abilities so that players could mix up things like they deem fitting without using very weak lists as a result.
