  1. Why does everyone think that SoB will be one of the 2 destruction tomes? Doesn't it make much more sense that it would be Gitz and Ogors (given that SoB got a white dwarf update and these didn't)?
  2. I don’t love them. I mean i like the idea of secondaries, but these have turned into even more of a “have or have not” situation than warscroll battalions were (not that core battalions have been good either). Even the “neutral” BTs and GSs often skew toward certain factions in their general ease of scoring. Imo, balancing a game this complex is hard enough without adding in a rotating set of secondaries every year.
  3. They are sometimes a bit vague though. I believe the confidence interval is to account for our own imperfect interpretations of their perfect prophecies.
  4. Did Catacombs not count in that regard? It may not have had actual 3d walls and such, but it did definitely have indoor fighting rules and all that
  5. So are they even going to bother releasing the physical compendium then? Would it even be needed at all with everything they release for free online? I've got to say this is a pleasant surprise coming from GW, but it'll be soured somewhat if they keep back some crucial piece that I still have to buy the actual book for.
  6. I don’t recall reading this anywhere. Do you have source? As i recall, the age of myth was more “get the orruks pointed a different direction “ than “peaceful coexistence”. In fact, i believe there was actually some fighting between them that then finally reached a height when gorkamorka got bored of helping sigmar.
  7. Most of those entered obsolescence around 2 years ago anyway when the GA books dropped
  8. I do love this new warband. To my eye they look suitability “Roman” along with almost looking like evil CoS soldiers. Very cool new look to add the already diverse roster of Warcry warbands
  9. From my point of view the seraphon are evil!
  10. The answer is the same as always... at least 8 more! 😈
  11. I like this battlescroll update a lot! Khorne not losing all their points when they use any blood tithe power/summon is a nice little benefit. Additional Slaanesh drops seems good. OBR and FEC changes are small boosts, but nice to have. Took away the gimmick Living City (but it'll still be a decent choice without that). I also like the bonesplitterz change for my big stabbas! I don't have any complaints!
  12. Actual rumors? Preposterous!! This is a fun rumor though! I could get on board with this!
  13. I guess continuing my point a little because I just got done with another quick meeting. I'm seriously wondering if this actually will NOT be the "battleline" year. Like troops, sure maybe. Somewhat less monster-focused? Sure, maybe. But, I'm really struggling to find one of my 10 or so factions where I'm feeling excited about my battleline. Obviously, I could just be over-thinking it and/or overreacting, but cheap, chaffy battleline with minimal point-investment seems to be the way to use GV to me.
  14. Man I really really hate bounty hunters... I was so excited to be able to finally kinda use my Blood Warriors, or Bloodreavers, or Bestigors again since they could fight in two ranks... But taking double-damage from whatever three troop units get put in hunters is gonna suuuuuuck. You can put cav in there and wipe em out. You can put trolls or dragon ogors in there and wipe 'em out. You can even put other GV in there and STILL wipe 'em out.... I mean, I guess my Bestigors can be GV Bounty Hunters, but I'm seriously wondering if Bounty Hunters doesn't make this more of a liability than a benefit. EDIT: It also sucks that there's no way to opt out of being GV. It makes "tankier" battleline non-viable imo.
  15. Ah okay. This makes way more sense... good spot! I wonder what they would actually add to Slaanesh at this point? They seems pretty darn complete at thing stage models wise and probably just need rules updates. I wonder if the Dexcessa/Synessa weren't the capstone to their update, rather than a harbinger of changes to come?
  16. Actually, I don't think it does. IDK had one of those boxes and all they got was a foot hero (which seems to almost be the expected minimum this edition). I'm not sure what is meant that "kruelboyz" got a broken realms box... since they didn't and even Kragnos wasn't a broken realms "box". Also Nurgle had a box and only got a hero. If it were true that would mean that Tzeentch, KO and FEC were ALL up for lots of models too. EDIT: I think we can take it as a given that Seraphon, Tzeentch, KO, FEC, Slaanesh and Seraphon are not ALL going to get new stuff beyond 1 hero model in this edition.... I'd love to be wrong, but that seems like asking a lot. EDIT 2: Oh yeah and OBR, Skaven and Beastmen all had Broken realms boxes. There were 16 broken realms boxes and only 2 of those were for a repeat faction which was CoS.
  17. @Baron Klatz Thanks for your post! You clearly know a lot more lore (especially 1st ed lore) than I, but the point is clear. AoS lore holds up generally pretty well when you actually read the stuff! I've been in this since 2nd edition and I've read every battletome, core book, lots of wiki, every campaign book made since 2nd edition's launch. I've also read Dominion and plan to read "The Blind King" (or whatever the Idoneth one is called) soon too! Even just with this relatively small exposure to the lore, it's pretty awesome. Honestly the narrative has progressed a lot and many people saying otherwise seem to just not know what happening. Cursed skies is still a major problem for non-thunderstrike stromcasts (and it'll be the reason for Eternus' "reforgings" in the new StD book). 2 CoS got nearly destroyed which is a cool power-shift in the region (why does it have to be totally destroyed to "count"?). Kragnos hasn't been crazy interesting, but he's driving a lot of change in Ghur at least, certainly not nothing... and his arrival also heralded the "real" dragons for stormcast, which I thought was a really cool tie-in. That same era even brought us the new Kroak model. We also had the Necroquake have very permanent effects both game-wise and lore-wise. Lore-wise because endless spells continue to exist in lore (as of Season of War Thondia at least) and was the whole reason for the "life-quake" response and thus Kragnos and new Sylvaneth models. Game-wise, 2nd edition (aka necroquake edition) brought us 2 "new" death armies which tons of new models NH and SBGL, plus OBR as a totally new army. I suppose only NH was directly because of the necroquake, but it made for a really cool "death" edition of AoS with 3 hugely updated armies. It's just hard for me to understand how people get "The narrative never goes anywhere and nothing ever changes" out of the last 4 years of AoS. Even as a newcomer to warhammer, that's hardly what I've seen. 40k is cool too, but it has yet to grab my attention and interest the way AoS has, but that really is more of a personal taste thing, I believe.
  18. What makes you think that? 1st ed. was 2015, 2nd was 2018 and 3rd was 2021. Without evidence to the contrary, I'd assume 4th will be 2024.
  19. Also wouldn't it be sick if we got a mini of (Spoiler for the book 'Dominion') Your use of that title just made me think of it.
  20. If one of the two really is SoB, then that will be the first time we've broken the pattern of "faction's w/o WD updates get tomes before factions with WD updates", right?
  21. I'd bet good money they'll be one of the new kits. They have lots of weird zealot looking dudes in the new art for them!
  22. I got the sense (from their wording) that we can expect most if not all the current freeguild/human/collegiate-arcane/ironwel-arsenal models to get replaced by new ones, but that dispossessed/scourge-privateers/darkling-covens/order-serpentis/wanderers/phoenix-temple will all stick around. If not I'm gonna be seriously sad as a major CoS collector, but I'm not too concerned by the way they said it today. I do hope for some positive confirmations in the future though. Also, I just recently painted 9 demigryphs and a general on griffon, so I'll be slightly annoyed if a fancy new version of those pops up (just because I'll NEED it and then I'll be painting them all over again lol). Aside from their somewhat ambiguous phrasing though, this is EXACTLY the kind of thing I've been hoping for. Most Freeguild models look like butt, and I'm so glad they're not just squatting humans, but rather giving them a proper update. The Ven Densts were awesome and I'm glad to have more! Basically, if your models NEVER get refreshed then one decade or another they're going to get removed. So the fact that these models ARE getting updated is to me an indication that those concepts will be sticking around and getting refreshed, not necessarily that we're going to see a mass "Khemri-ing" for CoS.
  23. Which is really too bad since most stormcast seem to do far better than Prosecutors...
  24. This is super cool (especially those chosen!!!!!!!!!) The only thing reducing my hype at the moment is that some of these scroll names kinda imply we might NOT be getting a chaos dwarf army anytime soon I'd be okay with chaos dwarves getting mixed in with Slaves to Darkness, except that this includes none of their signature war machines. It won't feel like we "actually have chaos dwarves" till we get those bad boys back, at least not for me. I mean, technically we've had "chaotic dwarves" for a hot minute already thanks to warcry.
  25. Has anyone gotten theirs from this year yet?
